Hollywood has certainly gone amuck lately trying to destroy everything about our history and culture. This movies continues down that foolish path. Kris Kringle comes from roughly 1850 German culture, okay? In this movie we have Kris Kringle married to a black woman named Ruthie. I seriously doubt that a German in the 1850's ever saw a black woman, let alone married one. Would Hollywood make a Kwanza movie with white people in the lead? I doubt it. Let's stop destroying culture by ramming fiction down our throats.
Beyond that, there's not much to this movie. In fact, having seen it just a couple weeks ago, I can't tell you anything about the plot. Seriously, a waste a time and shocking to see Mel Gibson star in such garbage. I guess times are tough for him.
Might as well have put Ironman in the movie, it was such a hoax. 50 guys wearing armor get taken down by Wick and he walks away without a scratch. He fires 30 times before grabbing a dead guys gun for 30 more shots. C'mon man. He knocks the armored guys down with 2 shots to the head then fires 4 more into their necks, which seem to be the only vulnerable place. And all while the other 45 guys wait for their turn.I expected some unrealistic stuff but I was calling BS throughout the entire movie. Then at the end he takes 2 in the chest, falls about 4 stories and is still alive. C'mon man. He's not an X man, he's human so don't make him Superman on steroids.
The original Death Wish with Charles Bronson was awesome. This remake shows just how far Hollywood has run from reality. Start off with the premise that nearly every rotten murderous thug in Chicago is .... wait for it ... a white guy. Apparently nobody from Hollywood has ever visited the south side. After getting past that walk away from reality we find that the revenge seeking tough guy is a ....wait for it .....surgeon. Do you know any surgeons that would risk their delicate hands fighting tough guys? A movie like this has enough fantasy in it. At least make the believable things believable.
Only a Hollywood hater that considers Jane Fonda a patriot would not like this movie. This is about a man's life and the dedication he felt to the men he served with. It's a movie about struggling with those emotions while trying to balance it all with family and home. It's good to know we still produce men like Kyle in this country and that we haven't all become Seth Rogens. I sat in a packed theater and not one person moved as the credits were run and then the audience broke out in loud round applause. This was a very good and entertaining movie. Clint Eastwood really knows how to put together a story.
This movie fires a shot of reality at the liberal American press. That's the only reason I see for why critics wouldn't like it. In WW2 soldiers would have shot the goat herders and nobody in the press or govt would have them up on charges. Sadly in American politics today, a soldier must first think about what the liberal press would do to them first. Because of the CNN's of the world all those soldiers died. That's the real lesson of this movie. Getting past that, this is a great action movie, very realistic, superbly done, and executed. Well worth seeing.
