An ambitious spectacle of high budget goodness brought down by an overly crowded and unfocused narrative.
A run of the mill origin story spiced up by absurd violence and raunchy humor, from dumb sex jokes to smart picking at the superhero genre. Deadpool manages to separate itself from the crowd but finds itself a notch below greatness, due to an overly-familiar narrative and uninspired cinematography.
Disappointingly low on laughs and too poorly edited and paced to reach the heights of previous Goldberg-Rogen collaborations.
Emotionally hollow and with poor character development, Black Mass is a partially underwhelming attempt at telling a compelling story, and dwells in the shadows of other, greater gangster flicks of the past.
