4 stars for really only two things.
1. The graphic effects were superb. The dinosaurs looked so real. Sound effects as well. Anytime these animals were involved I was on the edge of my seat.
2. Chris Pratt played his role very well. He was the only character that I enjoyed watching.
The story itself was lacking credibility and didn't seem plausible. I feel like there needed to be better back story and explanation as to how this park was even a possibility.
Look, when it comes to the 5th movie in an already B horror series, you have to appreciate the work done here. The graphic effects were well done and I appreciated all the blood and guts that were flying around. Maybe I just have a soft spot for Jamie Kennedy since his role in Scream, but I enjoyed his performance.
Very well done movie and definitely did the book justice. Everything was just about spot on except for how the kids get out of the maze. If I remember correctly, in the book they come to the end of the maze which looks off into a vast endless sky and they jump through an invisible hole to get out. Outside of a few little differences, everything else was enjoyable. The acting was really great and the sets were very well done as well. The reavers were designed very closely to what I was imagining and were scary. This was my favorite book in the series and I didn't much enjoy the others and how the story played out, so if they make another movie I probably will not watch.
For not having that many positive reviews, I have to say that I enjoyed this movie. It definitely could have been worse. I like how the writers decided to directly tie the story with the original and it worked in my opinion. Of course, lots of good blood and gore. There was nothing really innovative regarding the killings but they were brutal and authentic looking. That helped to keep a real feel to the movie instead of some movies that are just trying to hit you with shock value. The ending might have been a bit of a stretch. I thought the mayor was out of hand and deserved what he got, but the sheriff should have arrested Jeb for all the innocent killings. I'm sure those kids have parents that will be looking for them and it won't take a genius cop from another city to figure out what happened.
I had been waiting to see Moon for a long time and finally got the chance to sit down and watch it. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. I have to say that the acting, directing, effects, and sets were all great, but I just felt something was lacking in the overall story. It broke down for me at the end. I really didn't care if a clone got the chance to get away and meet his daughter. I thought that maybe once they found out they were clones that they should have come up with a way to stop the seeming injustice of using clones. Go down in a blaze of glory type of thing.
