Spectre (2015)

The opening sequence was as good as it gets. Pure unadulterated Bond. The title sequence was exceptional. Loved the animation. Then it went to hell in a hand- basket. Why Mendes has been hell bent on showing the touchy feely side of Bond is beyond me. The Bond that I grew up with would have "popped a cap" in Oberhauser for Queen and Country. Mendes's last - in the British tradition - the king is dead - long live the king and thank god for that..

and if they could tackle the show would be perfect.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

I know you are going to say why would I want to watch a Scandinavian flick with sub titles and after I have already seen the American version. One word Noomi Repace. This movie is bare bones stripped down story telling that coupled with the two lead actor's chemistry will blow you away. I have nothing against the umpteen million dollar budgeted American version but it ain't the best version going. Also the two other films in this trilogy are worth watching. Just writing this review makes me want to rent it again.

Hedwig and the Angry Inch

A beautiful cinematic treat. Not Hedwig cause as cross dressers go 6 out of 10 but for anyone wanting to see how to make a entertaining low budget film this one is a must. Location planning, low end graphics, costume design all worked to give the viewer less to be angry about. You can like it for its camp or swoon misty eyed at the end but for a number of reasons you will enjoy this film and appreciate the skill of doing a lot with a little. And yes the pun is most definitely intended.
