Between an impassioned, frustrated performance from Riz Ahmed and experimental, suffocating sound design and mixing, the film fires on all cylinders as it examines the unexpectedness of change.

A sweetly written film set in a stunning, beautiful landscape manages to be elevated to an entirely different level due to the unbridled chemistry between a veteran of acting and a child actor and an offbeat sense of humor that could only come from Taika Waititi.

Beautifully animated, Pixar's depiction of the afterlife pushes new bounds of the studio's ability while also serving as an ode to render black culture through their animated lens. Trent Reznor's jazz sound track makes the animation come even further to life with every passing moment of dazzling cinematography.

The movie survives on the chemistry of Chris Pine and Gal Gadot and admirable, amazing fight scenes but feels hampered down by subpar writing and clunky direction.
