well, despite what the title says it's not your average Christmas movie. will it win awards? no, but it will keep you amused and entertained. Allen is in a way different role and it was kinda nice to see him do something that doesn't normally seem like him. overall well acted and wraps up nicely.
this definitely won't be for everyone. its a slower, strange movie that seems to it fit in its time period but at the same time, it manages to work through it all well. it has its funny moments and leads you on a weird journey but ends kind of abruptly without a full sense of closure.
its not a terrible watch, it keeps everything fairly entertaining but the movie is a bit misleading with where the story takes us. the trailer looks like a straight adventure/survival but then switches into romantic drama in the last act of the film. decently acted, nicely shot but not a memorable film that will be talked about for long.
the movie looks amazing, the cinematography of the whole film is beautiful, sadly that is the highlight of it all. it has a mystery to it but the sluggish moving pace kills the whole film. there seems to be scenes that drag out too long or were unnecessary.
a remake that wasn't really necessary. it held about the same story as the original but in the end it didn't come close to the original. relaying on most cheap scares with no tension to the scenes there wasn't much going for it
