Really solid comedy from Stiller and company. Vince Vaughan is fantastic and all of the supporting cast gave good performances. The movie really begins to get cranked up when the actual dodgeball playoffs get under way. The ESPN announcers, played by Gary Cole and Jason Bateman, were just a scream!! They almost stole the whole movie for me.

I heard of this russian film from Andrei Zvyagintsev long before I saw it. Despite how much I'd heard, I was completely unprepared for how good it was. Two young brothers are surprised by the sudden reappearance of their father, who has been gone for twelve years. He takes them fishing and the trip doesn't go all that smoothly, to put it mildly. It's stunningly shot and wonderfully acted. It's a drama and not a particularly fast moving one so it may tend to frustrate some viewers but it's well worth checking out.

Mission: Impossible III

Can you believe it? I can't either.

First off, the movies. Without Warning kind of blew me away. It was so sad. It was a made for tv movie about meteors hitting the earth. It was filmed as a faux news broadcast and I guess when it originally aired, it put some people in a panic. I'll be watching a similar movie called Fail Safe, starring George Clooney and Don Cheadle. I can't wait. When that one was originally aired it was a live teleplay. Happy, Texas was a great little movie. At first, I didn't really care for Steve Zahn but, as I've watched more and more of his movies, he's grown on me. Mission Impossible III..... let's just say it was a bit better than that second one and leave it at that. The action was kind of entertaining but that was really the only thing it had to offer. Well, that and Simon Pegg.

It grows a bit closer to Mark's next arrival. Less than a month now. I told him I'm starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. A few candles burning there now. We finally got our RFE in the mail from Immigration. That's the request for further evidence form that's been holding up most application that were made between January and mid-June of this year. It was filled out and in the mail the very next day. Were incredibly anxious and excited about it. That's probably a gross understatement. Now we just have to wait for the next step.

And a big HI!!! to jen, who made her next big trip to Canada recently. I'm sure she's over the moon right about now. ;)

Oh, Jericho is on tonight and the season 3 premiere of Battlestar Galactica is on later this week. I'm nearly wetting my pants in antici------------pation.

Until next week!

Hello, all. I'm going to try and update this thing every Wednesday from now on. Even if it's only to tell you what crappy movies I've watched that week. I've just upgraded my Netflix to the 3 at-a-time plan, so they will be plentiful. Pee Wee's Big Adventure should arrive today, with The Street King and Strange Fruit coming on Friday. Huzzah!

It's been a really long ass summer. Mark and I applied for our fiance visa back in June. They've JUST NOW looked at it for the very first time since they first acknowledged receipt of it in June. And probably it was only to move it from one pile of application to another. But they've touched it. It's still there! The waiting is killing us. When he comes for his next visit, we've decided that he won't be leaving for a while. We'll have to keep a tight hold of finances but that's the least of my concerns. I just want him here.

I shall continue this a little later perhaps. My tacos are done and a movie with Lance Henrickson is calling my name in the living room.

Added later: Okay, nevermind. That Lance Henrickson movie is quite boring. *lol* It's called The Garden. I guess I should have expected that though and paid a bit more attention to what it's about. I think perhaps I might watch The Proposition instead. I've heard an awful lot of good things about that one. It's a western, that stars Ray Winstone and Guy Pearce. Should prove interesting.
