Ok if you understand how you feel when you see a cheezy comedy but still....it makes you laugh and cry and junk...Than that's what you got here. The SIngles Ward was the first Comedy About Mormons, for Mormons, by Mormons.

In a Ferris Bueller type narration, a man named Jonathan Jordon, a member of the Church, has slipped down that path of Church inactiveness. So it's obvious the ward is trying to reach out...and in a montage of scenes we see how many ways they usually try to, and what Jonathans responces are. We first see"We're having a ward Barbeque! THought you might like some Chicken..." (the line is said hilariously and the facial expressions knock you out), The next we see "Our releif society baked some cakes and we thought you might want one!" and The other is "Hey Brother, Our wards going Paint Balling we thought you might wanna join us". His responces...In order are...
"Oh sorry...I'm a vegetarian", "Oh....sorry guys I'm on a diet", and "I'm not allowed to handel fire-arms...I dunno if Paint Ball guns count but I can always ask my probation officer".
All in all though...their is a romace story thrown in with this quirky comedy....and it's Hilarious...
In the Mormon Movie Genre, a recent wave a movies made by members from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, (of which I am a Member of), has started.
In fact it started a while ago, with a movie called "God's Army", made by Richard Dutcher...Who is presumed to be the "Steven Spielberg" of LDS films. The next film to follow is, again, a movie by Richard Dutcher called "Brigham City", a murder mystery set in a small Mormon town in Utah. Both were good LDS films. Brigham City, ranking the best...(In the Drama/non-comedy selection...The comedies are an entirely different thing that I'll get into once Halestorm or Excel can make a 10/10 comedy...)
A while ago, a movie called "Saints And Soldiers" pretty much smashed all other LDS films down, winning over about 15 film festival awards and winning audiences around the U.S.
"The Work And The Glory" falls behind all of the films I named, but is above most of the rest.
It is a story surronding historical events of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, shown through a ficticious family, the Steed's.
Overall the movie is good, with above par acting, a good cast, and a good written flow. It's based off the Novel by Gerald Lund.
Other than that there isn't much to say...It does capture the time period excellently, it shows some of the struggle's the Mormons had, and some of the things Joseph Smith and his Wife had to deal with...though, mind you, the movie isn't focused on Joseph Smith...Rather, the Steed family.
So yea it was good...I await the sequel(s)...and I hope that they can do better than this one...
I've just returned from my High School feild trip to view STAR WARS EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH, and well, in a word...If you give this movie lower than an 8/10...YOU SUCK! You Plain SUCK!
I have seen STAR WARS EPISODE III: REVENGE OF THE SITH, the final installment of the great Star Wars saga. And let me inform you, Revenge of The Sith is the best of the Star Wars films. Period. Definatly the best of the prequel trilogy, and it matches with "The Empire Strikes Back". It is a film that will be very emotional, especially if you are a Star Wars fan.
The movie is quite amazing. From it's stunning scenes to it's intense lightsaber duels (This one gets the award for most lightsaber duel time, most action, and most excitement). Despite the fact you know Anakin betrays everyone and become Darth Vader, your heart is RACING through the entire time. My heart rate shot up through to the end of the movie, when the final credits rolled and I stood up and clapped and nearly cried...I was shaking, ,and my heart was just starting to slow down.
Some amazing things are in this movie, for instance the lightsaber duels are longer, faster, and much better than ever before. They are stunning. Yoda's duel with the Emporer is breath-taking...You just sit there, and you're like "There's the best good guy...and there's the Best Bad guy...AND THEY'RE DUELING IT OUT!!!!".
I am not giving away any of the already known details, nor the unkown (unless you really want me too...All questions be sent to BrothaFritz@gmail.com and I will answer them).
Hayden really stands out this time. He is REALLY evil, I mean...EVIL! Man, his acting in this is sooo frightening...He's amazing in this...
The one who stole the show overall was Emporer Palpatine, who becomes very scary looking, and uses that old, memorable evil toned voice (from Return of The Jedi)
One of the scenes that gets to you is when the suit is dawned onto Anakin Skywalker's charred body. When the helmet goes on, in particular. The front part of the helmet is placed on his head, and than the back...Then complete silence...then...*Vader's First Breath* That scene was amazing.
I can see George Lucas sitting at Skywalker Ranch right now...saying "Who sucks now! Idiots!" If you thought the first two were below par...when you see this, you'll regret you EVER uttered those words.
..And yes of course...I am planning on viewing it within the end of this week.
Pearl Harbor is based on true events with a love story connected around it. Now I only like some of those love stories...they're not really me though...That and I didn't think this was beleivable. Am I going to give the typical guy answer here and say I liked all the war scenes?
Hey war is harsh and it's nothing fun or cool...They did a good job filming it. I never "Love" that gore and all that. But if it's telling a story that happened sometimes I will go and watch.
Ah anyway...I haven't seen this in a while and really don't have any plans to blow a day off on watching it...
7/10...Just making it fresh...
The Russians Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming! is a hilarious little comedy set in WWII America. It's about a Russian submarine which comes close to the shores of America...The Russians inside that submarine just wanted a close look at America, they had never seen it before. They're submarine ends up stuck and they have to go find a "but" (That's Boat in Russian....or...a Russian Accent I should say). Anyways they have to go land bound...They don't want to kill any Americans they just wanna get the sub moving and get out before they're captured.
So as they start walking around, people notice them one after the other. The Russians are trying to remain inconspicous so they do cut some people's phone lines...So one by one the entire town starts saying they've seen Russian Soldiers around...and as rumors get passed you know...a little adding of the story goes...So eventually they end up thinking The Russians have invaded when really there is only 7 of them...and they just wanna boat to move their flippin submarine.
Ah...anyway....it give's ya laughs...It's a good old movie.
