Andy's Review of The Amazing Spider-Man
The Amazing Spider-Man(2012)
Have to say thought this was very average. The cast is a slim improvement over the original films (though Garfield's stuttering started to grate towards the end) but really Webb seemed to paint himself into a corner by retelling the origin story, obviously he felt he had to, but he rushed over various elements of it, leaving little sense of wonder or discovery, almost because he couldn't wait to get on the newer stuff.
Uncle Ben and Aunt May (particularly Aunt May) seemed to only speak in soundbites, Parker and Stacey go from asking each other out to being in a relationship immediately and if an antidote was really as simple as walking into the lab pressing a couple of buttons and hey presto we have a blue vile that fixes everything why on earth didn't they test on humans years ago.
Action wise there's not much to get the heart racing, there's a handful of nice 3D moments, but that's all they are moments and frankly nearly all of them had been spoiled in the trailers.I know i sound like i hating on it, but i am genuinely interested to see a tale that Webb is truly invested in telling and not half scared of just repeating other peoples work
