An Anglo-Kiwi Western movie filmed in New Zealand taking place in Colorado with a German-Irish actor, American, Australian, Kiwi, Scottish and South African cast. Why not? There is enough action to make it interesting to watch.
Very difficult to watch. Mostly dark, even with the lights off. Must have been filmed by candlelight. 2 hours and 2 minutes of slow filming about a skinny cow that barely produces any milk. How did our ancestors survive 200 years ago?!?
The costume budget must have been huge for this attempt at a film but Matthew McConaughey as an English peer of the kingdom is not believable although he is sharply dressed. The film falls flat and comes across as a runway display of male fashion with a side of wannabe thuggery but tasteful.
While I never cared for musicals on film or on stage, this film hits all the spots from an ode to Los Angeles and missed opportunities to great music, singing and choreography. A winner all around.
