Seth's Review of The Bird People in China
The Bird People in China(1999)
This film was not made in 2004, it was in 1998, so the listing on RT is wrong. Anyway, this is a nice little film after you get through the first 30 minutes or so, which were kind of boring, IMO. But once they get to the village, the story starts to come to life, and stops resembling Planes, Trains, and Automobiles like the first 30 minutes of this film did. This is different from other Miike films I have seen, but apparently he can tell a good story too, not just a horror/ over-the-top action film. My biggest reason for liking him as a director, is that his films have never bored me. I've liked some more than others, but overall, he does well on that front.
Until next time....
