Mission: Impossible III
11 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

went to a special critics/promotional screening of Mission
Impossible III. All I'm going to say is this is one of the best action
flicks I've seen since the original Matrix. It starts out intense with
one of the best (and rather brutal) openings and pretty much had us on
the edge of our seats throughout the entire film. Just when you think
JJ Abrams is giving you time to breathe, he has you right back into
the action. It's also very uncompromising...and in one part, kind of
grisly.

Phillip Seymore Hoffman is psycho. I mean, the scary kind of
"absolutely shows no remorse" kind of psychotic. He's such a good
actor.

JJ Abrams puts more of the original series into the movie. From
certain camera angles to the late 60s/early 70s bongos in the jazzy
like score as they're sneaking around. Ethan is also back to being
part of a bigger IMF team (including Ving Rhames) than the last film.
You even get to see them planning a few of the major stunts (such as
Ethan flying off the side of a building attached to a swing)...even
doing a little of the math to estimate angle and trajectory. :)

I know a lot of people are turned off by Tom Cruise. Tom cruise can
act though, and he does a pretty good job in this film. All I'm saying
is that if you miss this movie, you'll miss one of the better "balls
to the wall" action films ever made. Most importantly, it's a hell of
a lot of fun.

Look out for a funny cameo by Simon Pegg as the tech guy. :)
