Just not my kind of movie. Too strange for me.
I really liked the black and white filming and the camera shots of Cold War. I watched this on Amazon and kept thinking it was shortened and scenes were left out. I love watching foreign films with subtitles but I found myself lost with this storyline. Also, I do not need a subtitle of a dark barking or a cow mooing, that was irritating. I did not feel it was Oscar worthy and almost turned it off about 3/4 of the way through. Decided to stay with it for the conclusion but did not feel the ending was fitting.
You could feel the tension which made me feel as if I was there during the 2nd greatest tennis match in history. I enjoyed this film. It was unbalanced between the film time for each tennis player. I thoroughly enjoyed learning about Borg's childhood and how he got to be where he was. I would have also liked to learn more about McEnroes childhood, coach and how he got to be one of the greatest players of all time. The acting was very good.
Very sad but eye opening portrayal of the experiences of a 12 yr old. At age 22 yr he tries to make sense of his traumatic childhood and calm his demons. It must have been a very difficult assignment acting in the role of your own abusive Dad. Shia did an excellent job and should have been given recognition with an award for both his screenplay and acting.
Wow! This is a beautiful film with great plot twists. The actors were superb. One of my favorite movies I watched this year.
