Movie Ratings and Reviews

The Innocents

Certainly dated, and slow. Fun, however. Be patient.

Saving Private Ryan

First 28 minutes is a masterpiece. The rest of the movie is just OK.

Emily Blunt is terrible, and Josh Brolin is annoying and a Goonie. But, the rest of the movie is a beast. Del Toro is a monster and one of those actors that should be in your Top 5. No punches pulled and that's another reason I love it. A little slow at points. I could probably delete about 30 minutes and it would be better.

Idea doesn't pan out well for a 99 minute movie.

The Boy
The Boy(2015)

If you give the story time to develop, then it is rewarding. Jared Breeze is completely believable, in his role.

A Teacher
A Teacher(2013)

Very slow, but I think it has to be to get inside the head of the teacher. It's watchable.

Out Of The Dark

Boring. The little girl has a British accent, but the parent dont?

The Hateful Eight

A wild and fun ride! Every actor is terrific. Typical example Tarantino style. I will probably watch it 10 more times, this year.

Not since "E.T." has a movie ... Kidding!
This is a fresh idea, good cast, funny movie. Maybe could have been trimmed to 90 minutes, and less use of the F' bombs. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it.

Watched, again. I love it.

The Revenant
The Revenant(2015)

The name won't do it any favors. But, the movie is so beautiful. The cinematography is second to none. Dicaprio is in a league of his own. Movie just sucks you in and doesn't let go.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens

It's okay, nothing special. Not as good as the first three, but not as bad as the last three. Harrison Ford sleepwalks through. Black character was crowbared in just because. Nothing original.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2

I don't consider myself a fan, but I found this movie boring. I don't think I'm alone, because you can tell when the theatre gets restless.

Bridge of Spies

A downright snooze fest. The critics would never bad mouth a Spielberg/Hanks move. But, it is boring.

In all honesty; not exaggerating. I would rather watch fish swim.

The only thing that makes this movie halfway enjoyable is Gyllenhal's performance. He is a strong actor. What makes it almost unwatchable, is the obvious direction and the performances by 50 and Whitaker. The whole side story of the boy who was murdered was a joke.

Inside Out
Inside Out(2015)

Boring. Tries too hard..

Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation

Very good action. Story is the same. The formula works.

Cop Car
Cop Car(2015)

Interesting at first. But, very quickly becomes dull and boring.

The Tortured
The Tortured(2012)

Just a ridiculous movie.

Final Girl
Final Girl(2015)

Was not interested. It's too dark for me.

Labor Day
Labor Day(2014)

A decent, Sunday movie. Nothing surprising. Last scene should have been deleted, in my opinion. Well acted.

Jurassic World

I will say pretty much what all the reviews I e read have said. It's good, not great. Would have benefited from subtraction. Get rid of the stupid love story, and the kids parents. Other than that, I enjoyed it, very much.

Mission: Impossible III

Much improved over the second. Phillip Hoffman makes a great 'bad guy', and Tom isn't jumping on couches!! It's pretty awesome!

Danny Collins

A bore feast. Pacino is officially a has been.

Silent Hill
Silent Hill(2006)

Fun movie. Graphics are very good. Story is a bit long winded and messy.

Careful What You Wish For

All the twists you've seen 100 times. Not one good actor.

Wolf Creek 2
Wolf Creek 2(2014)

It's a movie that I considered turning off about 20 times. For some reason, I kept watching and watching.

Boring and overacted.

Reminded me of "Into The Wild". However, not as moving and without Eddie Vedder. The film is gorgeous. Witherspoon is terrific. It's what I think is the performance of her career. Probably would have benefited by deleting 20 minutes.

A movie you won't soon forget.

The Gambler
The Gambler(2014)

If you can get through the first ten minutes....well, I couldnt.

The Theory of Everything

Well acted, but drawn out to the point of being boring.

Incredibly boring.

Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in The Hood

Funny, and well done. On the same line as "Scary Movie."

Artsy-fartsy and boring.

This is a very well done adventure. There is a lot to it, so you have to pay attention, to everything. It draws you in and makes you think. The acting is par, but the writing is what makes it "float."
I think I'll have to check out more by Christopher Smith.
Watching it, again. I'm tempted to give it five stars. But, then I start comparing it to movies like, "Pulp Fiction", and "The Shawshank Redemption". Those are on a different level.. That's where the half star comes in.

We Are What We Are

When I see that the critics like a film, and the audience doesn't, that usually says the same thing. It means the movie is over the top in one way or the other. The acting is solid. I would, maybe develop the father a little more. I certainly would have cut the scene towards the end, at the trailer. Ambyr Childers is the stand out actor here.

American Mary

A very strange movie. You have to have an open mind to even remotely appreciate it. Good, but not great.

Masterful writing. Hold true, today.

Still Alice
Still Alice(2015)

Julianne Moore is an incredible actress. She does a masterful job. Kristen Stewart is very annoying, to me. Almost ruins the movie. Not really sure what her role is, anyway.

Gone Girl
Gone Girl(2014)

Not a fan of Ben Affleck, but he nailed it in this thriller/ mystery. The twist are very well done, and thought out. Not sure if it all comes together, at the end. Good movie, overall.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Haven't seen it. Can't delete review.

American Sniper

Lone Survivor is better. This one is getting all the attention, I believe because of the love story. I don't believe in the war, but I do believe in the military as I am a Veteran of the USN. Platoon, much better. Lone Survivor, much better. Black Hawk Down, much better.

Bradley Cooper is always good. No surprises, when it comes to him.

Gyllenhaal is a hell of an actor. He is always convincing. This is just another movie, about a guy who will do anything to succeed. You've seen the story. Nothing new; not bad for a one time view.

In all fairness, I couldn't get through it, so I didn't watch the whole thing. I just can't stand Ethan Hawke and this movie seemed lame, from the beginning.

At The Devil's Door

Not enough bad things to say about it. Horribly directed.

I couldn't figure out why critics hated this movie. I enjoyed itt. It ran about 30 minutes too long. Would probably have benefited from a few deleted scenes, and those would have been obvious choices.

Woodley is a stunningly good actress. Haven't seen her in anything else, but I will be watching, now. Her acting is so good, others actors fall way short around her. Kinda like a pickup game at the park with Jordan.

The Interview

Sony did a really good job hyping this movie. Too bad it doesn't deliver. Does have a laugh or two, here and there.

The Equalizer

Is the story silly? Beyond silly. However, if you like Denzel kicking a little ass, like I do, then this is for you. I liked it, except for the dumb storyline. Could have easily been called, "Man On Fire 2".

Born on the Fourth of July

Very different than Stone's other Vietnam movie, "Platoon". This one, is much more dark. Cruise spreads his acting wings, and does a terrific job. While I prefer "Platoon", this one is pretty good. If there's any doubt about Cruise's acting ability, this eliminates any doubt.

6 out of 10.

The Judge
The Judge(2014)

A lot of mumbling, a lot of clichés, and a lot of wasted talent. The movie is boring. The actors are just sleepwalking through their roles.

A Most Wanted Man

Very slow. The actors are superb in their roles. However you really don't care what is happening.

No End in Sight

Very well done. Should be required viewing.

The plot is ,basically the same as "Misery". The acting is subpar, especially Epps, who sleep walks through his gangsta brother role.

Live Die Repeat: Edge of Tomorrow

Didn't even hear about this movie, but glad I did. Cruise is in top form, as usual. The pace is very good and very well done.

Rabbit Hole
Rabbit Hole(2010)

Typical Nicole Kidman movie. Very depressing and slow. Good enough acting, actually, really good by Kidman. But, not enough to amount to anything. Very much a Lifetime movie of the week.

The idea is fresh. Acting is pretty good. It's just a little confusing. You have to really watch to catch everything.

Dick, sex, pussy, fuck. Just not that funny.

Million Dollar Arm

Quickly becomes uninteresting. The acting is pretty bad, Walt Disney would roll over in his grave with the sexual innuendoes.

Interesting if it were 10 minutes. But, 83 minutes and it becomes long winded.

Capturing the Friedmans

The same thing over and over. Interesting at first, but quickly becomes boring.

There Will Be Blood

A Masterpiece! Cinema at it's finest. It's like watching Picaso paint. Daniel Day-Lewis is unsurpassed. The best performance by any actor I've ever seen. Watch it several times. Paul Thomas Anderson is a brilliant director. "Boogie Nights", and now "There Will Be Blood", make him elite.

The Sacrament

So, it's the story of Jim Jones.

Creative, and entertaining. Keeps you guessing. Very well done.

Just as shitty as I thought it'd be.

The Lookout
The Lookout(2007)

Incredibly messy, over and poorly acted. The movie info should tell you about the number of cliches that are to follow.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

An amazing adventure. Superb story, and a great, great movie. Superior film making.

Trees Lounge
Trees Lounge(1996)

Kinda like watching an ant farm with people.

Mean Creek
Mean Creek(2004)

Feels like a homemade movie, but with a pretty good one.

Rocky III
Rocky III(1982)

The best of the series. 'I pity the fool' who doesn't see 'the ultimate male VS the ultimate meatball'.

I would say this movie has it all. I love Mr. T and Hulk Hogan in this, too.

Rocky II
Rocky II(1979)

Although not as good as the first, it is still very good. A little slow in the middle.

Five Easy Pieces

It's 44 years old, now. Movies have really evolved because this is very boring and tedious. Jack Nicholson, of course is the best part of the movie.

Good luck finding a better , well...g'gladiator' movie. This is top notch everything!

Offbeat and boring.

Insidious: Chapter 2

This movie could have been so much more, than it turns out to be. I jumped
more than a few times. But, it just doesn't keep the story very well, and doesn't tell it very well. The acting is very bad, as well.

The Expendables 3

Let's see if I can put into words how bad this movie is. It's beyond bad. I'll call it insulting to audiences. The entire cast should be ashamed. At first, I was sympathetic to Stallone in it being leaked three weeks early. But, NOT NOW, Enough, already of these guys kissing each other's asses.

Since it is the end of July, and I'm pretty sure I won't see a worse movie, this year, going to call it, "The worst movie of the year." I challenge you to sit thru it. Horrible! The series is over. Stallone should hang it up, before he ruins himself. I thought "Cobra" was his worst film. This is one of the worst movies ever made.

0 out of 10.

I find Jimmy Stewart very annoying. That being said, I couldn't look past his annoying cadence. "Vertigo" is beautifully shot. However, is long and drawn out. It is 60 years old, so I have to take that into consideration.

Hot Fuzz
Hot Fuzz(2007)

Pretty damn funny.

Blue Ruin
Blue Ruin(2014)

It's shows glimpses of being very good. But, the pacing is off. The acting is off. I find myself thinkink, "do I like this". In the end, I don't.

In all fairness, this really isn't my cup of tea. Gorge Clooney is so overrated.

Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa

Fun, laugh out loud movie. Better, in my opinion than "Jackass".

The Bay
The Bay(2012)

A ridiculous waste of time. Almost insulting.

If Salvador Dali wrote a movie, this would be it. It's very thought provoking. A movie that you won't get out of your head, for days to come. I find myself, searching the internet for answers.

Run of the mill, lost in the woods so called horror film, that doesn't work.

Enough Said
Enough Said(2013)

One of those movies that only comes along, AND WORKS, every now and then. Gandolfini and Dreyfus are in top form. I'm the biggest Sopranos fan around, and yet, I never once thought of him as Tony, during this movie. For that matter, nor did I think of Elaine. The chemistry of the two actors is about as good as you'll see.

Very we'll written, nicely paced, and very well acted. Probably, the best movie I've seen this year.

Seven Psychopaths

Quickly, fizzles out. The acting is pretty bad.

Paths of Glory

Probably my least favorite of the Stanley Kubrick films I've seen. Performances are all very good.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind

Masterful and original. Watched again, 2014 and it's just as good, if not better than I remember.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit

Messy, terribly acted and incredibly uninteresting. It's so bad , I wouldn't use the Blu-Ray disc as a drink coaster.

Veronica Mars

It seems very phony, from the sets to the actors.

The Killing
The Killing(1956)

Long before "Heat", this little heist gem. Outdated, but a very fun, detailed story.

Enjoyable. Acting is solid, so I appreciate that.

Paper Moon
Paper Moon(1973)

Delightful gem of a movie.

Bullet to the Head

A story that goes nowhere, slowly.

The Pledge
The Pledge(2001)

In true Sean Penn fashion, the movie is incredibly slow with visual scenes that mean nothing. Wait for it...., wait for it.....

Donnie Darko
Donnie Darko(2001)

I don't think the movie woukd have worked as well as it does, without Gyllenhaal. His performance is believable. Nice twists and fresh.

A bit slow.

As soon as you know that, one, it's written by Stallone. Two, it's about an ex-DEA agent. You have it all figured out. It's fun, despite be as corny as squirrel turds.

Mean Girls
Mean Girls(2004)

I was pleasantly surprised at this movie. Sure it's "Can't Buy Me Love" all over again. But, it's fun. Well done.

August: Osage County

Too slow for me. Feels like I've seen it 100 times on Lifetime. (Not that I watch Lifetime).

Barton Fink
Barton Fink(1991)

Not really sure how I feel about it. I like that it's not your ordinary movie. You have to figure things out. It's better than Blood Simple, and nowhere near as good as Fargo.

I'm sure Ill probably watch it again, and change my mind.

Dallas Buyers Club

McConaughy has truly separated himself from the rest of the class. His acting and dedication are phenomenal. This, I woukd consider to be his Picaso.

Its good, but not "Shawshank" good. The movie seemed to be a little long. But, I did enjoy it. I think the performances keep your attention, The supporting cast was really, really good.

Prison Terminal: The Last Days of Private Jack Hall

Moving. Reminds you that there are good people out there.

One of the best movies ever made.

Who are the 6% that didn't like this?

The Wolf of Wall Street

A heck of a ride. DiCaprio's performance is amazing. Don't get me started on Margot Robbie!!! (Or Do!)

The Whale
The Whale(2011)

It's amazing how much we don't know about this magnificent animal. You fall in love with this whale from the very beginning. The movie does a really good job on keeping focus and using real footage. A touching film that I'll probably watch again. Maybe there's more to the world than just us.

It's O.K. Alot of build up, with no payoff.

American Hustle

Critics have fooled people into believing this is a spectacular movie. It is a borefest that goes round and round.

All Is Lost
All Is Lost(2013)

Redford's overacting is incredibly bad. Not sure what the critics saw in this. I found it to be rather boring and uninteresting.

Blue Valentine

Oscar-worthy performances by Williams and Gosling. They are both masterful in their roles. The story is the typical love turns sour. But, this movie develops the characters so well that it seems fresh.
One side note: I woukd have dumped the jealous boyfriend scenes. They seem pointless.

The LEGO Movie

A complete borefest. There is NOTHING interesting about this movie. My son (12) and I walked out after 1 hour.
The critics below, who seemed to have loved it are mostly critics I've never heard of. Who's that?

What makes the movie work, is the excellent acting of Jackman and Gyllenhaal. The movie is a bit long. But, I suspect that it's necessary to develop the characters.

Tropic Thunder

Just watched again, for the first time in years. So great! One of the funniest movies I've seen.

Lone Survivor

The story is amazing. I saw the special on "20/20", so I knew the story. The cast is magnificent. Glad to see Emile Hirsch, again. Wahlberg did his best acting, IMO since "Boogie Nights". A few corny, unnecessary lines here and there.

Even as a child, I felt wrong for going to the zoo and staring at animals caged. When I was at SeaWorld, the first hinge I noticed was the collapsed dorsal fins. Humans are cruel. This is sad, but informative. Makes me want to put on a T-Shirt that says, "Free The Whales!".
There was a statement made towards the end of the film that stuck with me. I'll paraphrase. In 50 years well look back and think how barbaric and cruel this practice was.

,!!!!!A MUST SEE!!!!!

The East
The East(2013)

The idea is unique. Which is what made me want to see it in the first place. However, the execution isn't as well done as "Man On Fire". Not bad, but not great.

Killing Season

It's a long fall from "Casino" to "Killing Season".
It's a long fall from "Pulp Fiction" to "Killing Season". A really bad, boring movie. Travolta's accent is the worst.

The Conjuring

What starts off with great potential, quickly fizzles to another "Exorcist" wannabe movie. 90% of the movie is setting up the story, and 10% is the wrap-up. About half way the movie takes a turn for the worse, as does the acting. Strange, to see that happen.

We're The Millers

Not very good. Started with pretty good potential, but quickly becomes another shock comedy movie.

Dog Pound
Dog Pound(2010)

It's alot like "Bad Boys" without the talent of Sean Penn, and without direction.

Olympus Has Fallen

Modern day "Die Hard". It's far fetched, yes. But, it's pretty entertaining. Just relax and enjoy.

The Colony
The Colony(2013)

Despite the horrible reviews it got, I enjoyed it. I'm somewhat partial to Fishburne, and he doesn't disappoint.
The movie doesn't look as good as other top movies (Star Trek), but it is entertaining.

The Iceman
The Iceman(2013)

Acting is pretty solid, but the story is all over the place.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

Almost being 30 years old, it does seem a bit dated. I'm sure, at the time it was cutting edge. The story is good, somewhat theatrical at times.

Sound City
Sound City(2013)

I like Butch Vig, and Dave Grohl, anyway. I have seen "Classic Albums: Nevermind", and this seemed like an extension of that. Well done, and interesting. Too bad my ITunes only downloaded half of it. :(

The Cold Light of Day

Acting is so bad, the movie doesn't stand a chance.

Terms of Endearment

The cast is outstanding. Nicholson, MacLaine, and Winger are a hard trio to beat. I thought some of the characters could've been better developed. Some of the screenplay felt a bit sloppy. However, decent movie. Without Nicholson, The movie surely would've suffered.

Punch-Drunk Love

Anderson is my favorite director. This attempt is very odd. Cant believe I watched the whole thing, because it never pays off. Boogie Nights! There Will Be Blood! Magnolia! ....Punch Drunk?

56 Up
56 Up(2013)

Good idea, however I found it incredibly boring.

The wardrobes on these subpar actors are ridiculous, at best. The story is such a borefest. It's unwatchable.

A Good Day To Die Hard

Feels more of a mockery of Die Hard than a serious movie. Willis is terrible, as usual and the story is preposterous. "Yippie ka" ....oh forget it!

Identity Thief

A laugh here or there, but ridiculous in every way.

While McConaughey does his best acting to date, the movie doesn't work. It's so long and so pointless. A couple of the scenes are so staged, it loses credibility. You're telling me Witherspoon just happens to be standing on the balcony when McConaughey decides to come out of hiding? OK!? Witherspoon has become a has been.

Side Effects
Side Effects(2013)

Right when I thought the movie was getting boring, it was actually picking up. I'll have to watch it, again because I got a little lost.

Fast & Furious 6

I expected much more. The story is beyond lame. The love story, especially is bad. The Rock is so big, it's disturbing. So boring, my two teenage boys and I walked out.

Minority Report

I just watched it, again on Blu-Ray and it is VERY entertaining. Tom Cruise is at his best. Not since the Matrix has a sci-fi movie kept my interest like this one. The 'spiders' that are released and look for people were way cool. It's hard to believe this movie is 8 years old.

Assault On Wall Street

So, yes I know it's kinda lame and drawn out. Every cliche' is there for the taking. Could've been a bit shorter.

House Hunting

Despite the low budget feeling, it's actually pretty interesting and fun.

Star Trek Into Darkness

As good as it's predecessor. The visuals are stunning, and the story is very good. Can't wait till the next.

Texas Chainsaw

So a screaming girl, constant sex, a chainsaw, no real plot. Sounds about right.

Pretty good movie, especially seen with your son. It's a little over the top with it's cornball, AMC feel. I can just see this movie played to death, like "Shawshank Redemption". The makeup is bad, too. I know I'm picky, but lay off the powdered faces, a bit! I would have like to have seen the other side of Robinson, too.

The Jackal
The Jackal(1997)

BAD, BAD, BAD! This movie is so bad, Richard Gere has to be trying to buy the rights and have it destroyed, when he watches his performance. Typical, however of Willis. How Bruce Willis became a movie star is so unfair of life! He's as bad as Keannu.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

A Take-it-or-leave-it ridiculous film.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

The way cinema was intended to be. Masterful acting by all. Nicholson is the best!

Django Unchained

I expected much more. The story, quickly becomes stale. The overuse of the "N-word" got to be too much for me. Disappointing, considering the cast and director.

I can sit through it, once.

The Goebbels Experiment

Informative and well worth a look.

The Last House on the Left

It's okay. I would say better than most horror movies, because it has a few unpredictable scenes.

Mercury Rising

It's watchable, but it's really dumb. Bruce Willis just can't act, I'm convinced. Every little thing is made to be a really big deal by a really bad actor.

Oz the Great and Powerful

Maybe the worst movie Ive seen in the last 5 years. Impossible to sit through.

Zero Dark Thirty

Long, dry but an interesting enough story to sit through once.

It's not terrible. In fact, I was enjoying it, for the first hour. But, then I just lost interest. I think it went from a cute story, to just typical, weird Burton over-the-top(ness). It's almost carbon copy rip of "Frankenstein".

With a cast like this had, I expected a lot more.

Internal Affairs

Besides being a bit long, and some bad acting (not Gere), this was a fun movie.

The Gift
The Gift(2000)

By the time we get to the "who dun nit", you don't care. All the actors do a pretty good job. But, all the surprises are like a wrapped bowling ball. You pretty well know.

Blanchett deserves much better. She's a terrific actress.

Good Morning, Vietnam

You have to be a Robin Williams fan to like this movie. Well, Im not a Robin Williams fan, and I didn't like this movie, at all.

Safety Not Guaranteed

Entertaining, and fast paced. Very well done, with a surprise ending.

The Shining
The Shining(1980)

The writing is brilliant. Then, to have Nicholson perform like he does, makes this an incredibly good movie. Nicholson has to be the best actor ever.

The Karate Kid

Wonderful picture about building character, and love. Very well acted.

The Cable Guy

Ill go out on my own here, and call this Carey's best movie. The only weak spot, is the ending. The rest had me laughing, the whole way through. "Itsssts no swwweat off my ssssack"!

Quickly, becomes predictable and boring.

The Impossible

All over the place. Felt like the movie just completely ran out of story.

I found it really strange, when the camera zoomed in on Naomi's breast, not once but twice. What is that? When can we set the shaky, handy cam down?

Tears of the Sun

I'm becoming convinced that Willis is only good in "Die Hard". His acting is pathetic, as is this film. What the SEALS sneak in but take their time rounding up a bunch of people, negotiating terms of their leaving, and walk out singing songs? Probably not.

I thought it was the perfect role for Richard Gere, and it he played it to perfection. There's not a bad actor in this movie. I found that REFRESHING! The story sucked me in and kept me interested. If you liked "Wall Street", you'll like this, too.

All you need to know about this movie are two things. First, it stars Nicholas Cage. Second, It's not "Leaving Las Vegas". Therefore, you know it sucks.

If you're interested in WWII, check out the amazingdocumentary, "The Last Days of WWII".

Napoleon Dynamite

Watched it, again and I must say I love this film. It's original, well done and makes me smile.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

An absolute gem of a comedy. Still holds up, 30-years later.

King of Devil's Island

The direction is quite messy, at times. The acting is superb. It's not "Shawshank" or even "Sleepers", but worth a look.

Ice Age: Continental Drift

Nothing cute, nothing funny, and horrible CGI makes for a very long hour and a half.

A bunch of bad ideas, characters, and twists hastily thrown together. The story takes forever to develop, and about 5 minutes to wrap up. The direction is third-rate.

Awful movie.

The Crossing Guard

If not for Jack Nicholson, I would have called this one really bad. Jack, like Denzel has a way of making a bad movie seem OK.

The supporting characters (Robin Wright) are wasted with little development. I don't understand if Jack's character is a pimp, jeweler, a guy with lots of money, or what. You never really see what he's all about. The direction is quite messy.

Last Man Standing

I think it works...kinda. Reminds me of a Steven Segal western.

Doing Hard Time

Very cookie cutter, low budget movie, where scenes are too long and acting is bad.

The Bourne Legacy

Damon is the face of Bourne. But, if you consider the Bond movies and how they utilized new actors, as too can the "Bourne" films. Renner is a good action star, but not as good when it comes to dramatic dialogue. But, that's OK with me. I liked this movie, and hope the franchise continues.

One thing the story could do, is lose the "Treadstone" reference. I'm tired of it.

Brooklyn's Finest

What's good: Cheadle and Gere. What's bad: The movie. What's worse: Ethan Hawke.

Hall Pass
Hall Pass(2011)

I thought it was hilarious. Funniest movie I've seen in a long time. Starts to fizzle, a bit towards the end.

Nicky Whelan is distractingly hot.

Might have been better served, minus 30 minutes. It was nicely shot, but a bit confusing, at times. Overall, it's worth a look.

Beneath The Darkness

An incredibly bad movie.

0 out of 10

Not much of a script, here. The story quickly becomes boring, because there's nothing really happening.

The Apparition

The 4% rating, by critics is a little harsh. However, something has happened to cinema, and it's not a good thing. Seems everybody with a camera can make a movie. This one is really bad, that relies on a girl, who walks around in her underwear. Two problems, with that. There a lot of porn on the Internet, and the girls not hot. I want to watch a movie with substance, and I havent seen that, in a long time.

Silent House
Silent House(2012)

If following a girll around a poorly lit house, for an hour and a half, with NOTHING happening, no plot, no surprises is what you want, then this is for you. Could have deleted 95% of it, and not missed a thing. A terrible movie.

Glengarry Glen Ross

Superb, and extraordinary acting.

#6 on my all-time favorite movies.

Set up the movie with two of my favorite actors, Washington and Cheadle and already you've got me hooked. However, this one is a little bit over the top. Denzel does what he does, and I love it. Easily, could've deleted about 35 minutes and the film would have benefited, greatly. Fun movie.

(The girl at the beginning was HOT)

The Way
The Way(2011)

Again, I appear to be in the minority, I didn't like the film. The editing and direction is awful. The movie tries way too hard to be clever. When it tries to pull on your heart strings by a staged scene, and the never ending startup of some guitar strummed ballad, it trips over it's own feet.

Sloppy, and corny. 4 out of 10.

We Need to Talk About Kevin

Very slow, depressing movie. The acting is superb, but it's a familiar story, and not that interesting. Gilda Swinton is in top form.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Should have just left it alone. Terrible movie.

Mr. Popper's Penguins

Remember a LONG time ago when Jim Carey was funny? Remember how the movies were halfway interesting? Well, forget it!

Jeff Who Lives at Home

Uninteresting, to the point I fell asleep.

Too long, and too many dumb jokes. Wahlberg is pathetic, as usual. It's been a long time since "Boogie Nights", my friend. Does he have asthma? What's with the breathing heavy all the time? So annoying.

The 5th Quarter

Amaturish, at best. Poorly acted, poorly written and very poorly directed. I find myself insulted, as an audience. What's with directors and the never ending background music? Is it to cover up the smell of the movie?

Some computer-generated monter goes around raping women while some kid watches? No thanks.

Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father

Powerful is the best description. Wonderful presentation and narrative insight. I'm going to watch it, again. Documentmentaries, this good are rare.

The best documentary, Ive seen since "Loose Change".

I can honestly say, I hate this movie.

Law Abiding Citizen

Much of the script is far-fetched, but for entertainment purposes I was very satisfied. Fox became a little annoying with his overacting and I would have edited his family out. It's not necessary to know his wife and little girl, and their acting is horrific. But in spite of that, I'm going to watch it again, soon.

Watched it, again and I love it.

2016: Obama's America

Very dry. Honestly, I'm not as interested in a person's background as I am in what, or who they are now. I believe a person changes, sometimes for better, sometimes worse. I don't think Obama is a bad guy. I'd rather Colin Powell be president over anybody else.

Friday the 13th

Nothing new, but I liked it.

The Amazing Spider-Man

It's not good, and it's not bad. My 10-year old liked it, I lost interest.

The Bride of Frankenstein

For 1935, it's good. For 2012, is still pretty good.

The Pyramid Code

I found it interesting. A little fast paced, for me, as I know nothing about the pyramids. The first 2 of the series are the best.

The Expendables 2

The story is ridiculous, the acting is horrific, cliche' after cliche', but I like it.

Well done, and informative. Makes me appreciate the doctors and nurses that care for people with brain injuries. I feel for the parents. What an awful thing to have happen to your child...

The Invisible War

While I'm sympathetic, I was not interested.

Last Days of World War II

There's not a better documentary. I enjoyed every single minute of it. Sad that I'm 40 years old, and knew about 5% of the material in this brilliant film.

Murder in the First

Mediocre courtroom drama Nothing special, very overacted

End of Watch
End of Watch(2012)

Endless profanity, and the handy cam work makes this not very good. Amateur dialogue, at best.

Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap

Seriously, how many times can you talk about where rap came from? We've heard it all before. One thing Ice-T does do, is have top rappers give their two cents.

A better documentary are the "Beef" series. Much better, in fact. ( In my opinion).

Script is great, and Witherspoon and Broderick are perfect.

Exit Through The Gift Shop

After continuously hearing about this movie, Im a bit disappointed. It felt as if I watched two completely different documentaries. First one good, second one bad.

Ronald Reagan: An American Journey

Very well done, in-depth look at one of my heroes, Ronald Reagan.

My Dinner with André

Sorry, just couldn't stick with it. I bailed after 30 minutes.

Reindeer Games (Deception)

Ben Affleck is terrible, the script is horrible, and Charlize is so frekin' hot!

"Rocky", is nothing less than a masterpiece in writing and cinema. It is Stallone at his best. He builds the character to one that you truly care about. You want him to win. Root for the underdog. The supporting cast is first rate.

Smokey and the Bandit II

This is as bad as the original is good.

Smokey and the Bandit Part 3

This makes Part 2 look great. You know it's REALLY bad, when even the main actor won't sign on. The series should have thrown in the towel, after the first one.

Guess Gleason needed the money?

The Dictator
The Dictator(2012)

A laugh, here and there. Not good, but yet not bad either.

The Basketball Diaries

The good: DiCaprio's acting.
The Bad: Mark Wahlberg's breathing.

The movie drags and drags. Depressing.

American Reunion

Nothing new. Dirty jokes and toilet humor and same ole situations. However, I enjoyed it.

The Hunger Games

I can see where people would like this one. However, for me it has major flaws. For one, it is a complete ripoff of the japanese movie "Battle Royale", which is much better. "Battle Royale" develops more characters, "Hunger Games" centers on one girl, along with a ridiculous love story.

About 30 minutes could have been left on the cutting room floor. I think that would have really helped I was, quickly getting bored with it. I do like the idea of the sponsors. My kids, absolutely loved it. So, what do I know.

The Dark Knight Rises

So what comes to mind:
1) poorly directed
2) poorly acted
3) cheesy one-liners
4) obvious choreographed fight scenes that are worse than wrestling
5) way too long
Christian Bale sleepwalks thru his role. Michael Caine's crying scenes are unwatchable. Too many holes in the plot.
4 out of 10

The Rainmaker

Just an O.K. Courtroom drama. Almost carbon copy Erin Brokovich. Too long. Very good performance by Devito.

What Lies Beneath

Good, lazy Sunday movie. Nothing special.

We Were Here
We Were Here(2011)

An intelligent and heartfelt look at the aids epidemic. Intelligent being the keyword.

Men in Black III

Talk about green-screen overkill! Its as if nothing is real, and it's horribly done. This is 2012, and "Star Wars" looks more realistic.

The story is not bad. It's "Back To The Future" carbon copy.

5 out of 10 stars.

The Sandlot: Heading Home

If you compare it to the first, then you're in for a BIG disappointment. It provides nothing special, and the cast is really bad.

4 out of 10.

I enjoyed this movie, very much. I'm a big fan of original ideas, and unpredictable twistsand turns. Reminded me a lot of "Flatliners". Sutherland would have been great for this.

The Dark Knight

Wow! This is how a movie is supposed to be made. In my opinion, the BEST superhero movie ever made. It kept my attention from beginning to end. Everything about it is just superb.

If there's a better action movie, I'd love to see it. (There isn't).

10 out of 10

Source Code
Source Code(2011)

I admit, the first time I saw it, I didn't think much of it. But, after a second and even third view, I was wrong. It's very entertaining and Jake Gyllenhaal is very good. The ending could've been better thought out. Would like to see a second installment.

Feels a lot like a Dateline, or 20/20 episode. I was disappointed in it. I agree, Bullying is a huge epidemic. But, this is not a very good movie. I would even say, boring.

One thing that bothered me, how was it filmed? Hidden cameras or did the kids on the bus know that they were being filmed? How creditable was what we saw?

As predictable as a movie could be.

There's not a word to describe how bad this is. I'm going with 'SHIT'!

Horrible script, even worse acting. A terrible mess of a movie. Looks like a home made disaster. Wait, Cage in another bad movie? No way! It's been a long time since "Leaving Las Vegas". He and Kidman should be ashamed to have their names associated with this.

Gets my vote for one of the worst movies of the year. Make that THE worst.

Becomes more about Chris Evan's character's drug addiction, than the case itself. It becomes boring, quickly. Better direction and editing, and it may have been good. But, it's not.

The Sitter
The Sitter(2011)

There's NOTHING funny about this garbage.

Jackie Brown
Jackie Brown(1997)

You have to have patience. Step back and see the big picture. Character development takes time, and is worth it. DeNiro is superb, and Fonda is perfect for the role.

Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol

For an action movie, it's everything you'd want and more. The story, however is weak. The IMF team has to stop a Russian nuclear missle? Really? I think, too I spotted a chink in Renner's armor. He's not quite the actor, in this one, anyway that I've come to expect. To go with Simon Pegg, and try to be goofy-clever is a mistake. The ending is too long, and too corny. ( Gotta slip that love story in, somehow).

While it might seem like I'm bashing it, I'm not. I really enjoyed it, and highly recommend seeing it. Especially, on IMAX.

Makes me wonder if we just saw the torch passed from Cruise to Renner? I thought Renner was going to take the role of Jason Bourne.

The third is still the best, by a mile. I would rate them, from best to worst: 3, 1, 4, 2.

Man on Fire
Man on Fire(2004)

[img][/img] Great acting by Washington, and Walken. Balls out. I love that they didn't pull any punches in this movie. I mean, C-4 up the ass? Hell YEA! Only bad thing is the acting of Marc Anthony and almost laughable acting of Radha Mitchell. She must be bangin' the director, or something.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Remake that is actually better than the original. Johnny Depp (from Louisville, KY. BTW) is perfect for this role. It blows fresh air into the original with color, song, and different situations. My favorite being the squirrel scene.

I love to watch it with my 2 boys and laugh at the same parts and see there faces.

Wonderful film.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy

Kind of like waiting in the drive thru at Taco Bell, only to get what you get, with very little cheese.

3 out of 10 matos.

Joy Ride
Joy Ride(2001)

Even though it's corny and badly acted, it's entertaining. Breaker one 9!

5 out of 10 tomatoes.

To Kill A Mockingbird

Even half a century later, it's a really good film; largely because the acting is so good.

The Benchwarmers

Spade is terrible, as usual. Schneider does what he does best, and that's suck. However, I shamefully enjoyed it.

What a story. It's a bit 'long-winded', but worth it.

My only question, where did she get the money to do the things she did?

6 out of 10.

The scenes from Willowbrook Mental Hospital are disturbing. Movie feels like a 60 Minutes episode.

The House of the Devil

How long should a person have to babysit a movie, before it becomes interesting? 30-mins, maybe an hour? What's fair? Well, I'll give a movie about 40 minutes before I cut my loses. Thats one of the reasons that directors have deleted scenes.

Almost, the entire first 30-minutes could have been dumped. Once she gets to the house (I'm guessing it took 40-mins to get there), it starts to get interesting. But, by then I've tired of it. I feel like I should be the one getting $400 to babysit.

3 out of 10.

Into The Abyss

A very disappointing documentary. One I had been waiting to see, for a while. But, it's painfully slow, and the subjects are painfully .... Let's say, challenged.

4 out of 10.

When I think of the best-movies, of all-time I think of these:

1. Pulp Fiction
2. The Shawshank Redemption

Titanic is right there, with them.

MASTERPIECE IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD. Acting, script, cinematography, score, etc, etc. If somebody was to say this is the 'greatest-movie of all-time', I would have a VERY hard time arguing that point. It may, very well be.

Just saw the 3D version. It's done really well, but shows signs of age.

I find it hard to believe, that this movie is only an hour and forty minutes. It is so dark and goes nowhere fast (fast meaning slow). Very similar to "Brooklyn's Finest".

One thing I can say, is that it is terrifically acted. Harrelson holds the screen as a lead actor should. Brie Larson and Robin Wright are terrific. As a director, I can't imagine investing so much in a movie and then casting Ice Cube! I love "Friday", like the next man but he's out of his league.

It's not a good movie, by any stretch of the imagination. I wouldn't classify it as "horrible" either. 4 out of 10.

The Woman in Black

Very difficult to get passed the 'type-casted' Radcliffe (Harry Potter). He has to carry the entire movie, without all the magic, and cant. The story, on the other hand, is descent, but not original.

Wait for the video.

Kung Fu Hustle

Refreshing, original, and loads of fun. Not since "Blazing Saddles" have I seen comedic originality. Can't wait to watch it a third time. Why didn't this get the attention it deserved. Don't miss it.
7 out of 10.

The Pursuit of Happyness

"It was right then that I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson on the Declaration of Independence and the part about our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And I remember thinking how did he know to put the pursuit part in there? That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue and maybe we can actually never have it. No matter what. How did he know that?"

As much as I don't care for Will Smith, this is a fantastic film. The father-son angle, and the work hard to get where you want angle really works well.

8 out of 10.

You know exactly what you're getting, with this one. Mindless, rogue cop vs. cop killer. No surprises. Cookie-cutter action.

4 out of 10.

A movie that is more about making you think, than any special effects, or powerful acting. Reminds me, a bit of "The Matrix" theory that were just batteries in this world; good for three years.

6 out of 10.

The Darkest Hour

First thing that jumped out at me, was how bad the set looked. The movie is so phony looking, how can I take anything seriously? I read, somewhere that it was filmed in Russia? But, it really looks like a stage at your local college.

The acting is really bad. What's happened in Hollywood? Are there only a handful of good actors, anymore? This truly felt like I was watching a play. A bad play, at that.

Really boring and bad!
2 out of 10.

Slumdog Millionaire

It's good, but it's not what it's been made to be.

Me, Myself & Irene

I don't understand the bad reviews. This movie is really funny and Jim Carey is in top form.

Dog Day Afternoon

[img][/img] Dog Day Afternoon was made in 1975. So, when I say it's out dated it goes without saying, "duh". But it has enough to it that it lasts as being a great movie. It's based on a true story, so that adds a little, for me. So says Roger Ebert, too. "..a film made brilliant by its deeply seen characters, in a plot that could have obviously been cheapened and exploited but is always human and true."

"No, I don't want to be paid, I don't need to be paid. Look, I'm here with my partner and nine other people, see. And we're dying, man. You know? You're going to see our brains on the sidewalk, they're going to spill our guts out. Now are you going to show that on television? Have all your housewives look at that? Instead of As The World Turns? I mean what do you got for me? I want something for that."

Fight Club
Fight Club(1999)

[img][/img] Good movie, but I can't say 'great'. I really like Ed Norton as the narrator. I do love a good Narrator like Norton, and Morgan Freeman. Love the ending, too.

Tyler Durden: [pointing at an emergency instruction manual on a plane] You know why they put oxygen masks on planes?
Narrator: So you can breath.
Tyler Durden: Oxygen gets you high. In a catastrophic emergency, you're taking giant panicked breaths. Suddenly you become euphoric, docile. You accept your fate. It's all right here. Emergency water landing - 600 miles an hour. Blank faces, calm as Hindu cows.
Narrator: That's, um... That's an interesting theory.

The Changeling

I saw this movie a very long time ago. It scared the sh@t out of me. I still love it.

Touching the Void

[img][/img] Roger Ebert wrote: "I didn't take a single note during this film. I simply sat there before the screen, enthralled, fascinated and terrified." That's how I watched it, in fascination. Don't miss.

I think he said it would
be a challenging day out. It was the last big mountain
face in this range of mountains, that hadn't been climbed.

Requiem for a Dream

A movie this good only comes around once in awhile. Don't read what it's about or watch the stupid trailers. It is an excellent movie, one of my favs.

"I'm somebody now, Harry. Everybody likes me. Soon, millions of people will see me and they'll all like me. I'll tell them about you, and your father, how good he was to us. Remember? It's a reason to get up in the morning. It's a reason to lose weight, to fit in the red dress. It's a reason to smile. It makes tomorrow all right. What have I got Harry, hm? Why should I even make the bed, or wash the dishes? I do them, but why should I? I'm alone. Your father's gone, you're gone. I got no one to care for. What have I got, Harry? I'm lonely. I'm old."

The Doors
The Doors(1991)

Powerful, and wonderfully acted by Val Kilmer. I wasn't even a Doors fan, until I watched this movie. It loses a little steam towards the end, maybe on purpose.

[img][/img] Fun. If you're in to Texas Hold 'Em, you'll really love it! Ed Norton is great (as usual), perfect role for Damon, and Gretchen Mol never hurt anything either! [img][/img]

[img][/img] YES

"Listen, here's the thing. If you can't spot the sucker in the first half hour at the table, then you ARE the sucker."

The Hurricane

[img][/img] My top 10. This is an amazing movie. Denzel Washington is at his best. Which he usually is. The only thing, I didn't like the cast of the Canadian's, but it is a great, great movie.

You are very persuasive,
and I thank you for all the things you send me,
but you people are a bad influence on me.
I'm startin' to like all this stuff a little too much.
You're lettin' me get loose.

Fatal Attraction

I loved this movie for a couple of reasons. First, Michael Douglas. Second, Glenn Close is at her absolute best! Third, the story is something that we can all relate to, which ever side we're on in an affair.
I was surprised how much cinematography has come in 20+ years. This movie definitely looked dated.

Leaving Las Vegas

In a great big world, with many, many people we're really not that different. We all have faults. In this movie, Cage's fault is a bad marriage, and alcohol. Shue's is in a different light. That's in the RED light district.

Now, when I saw this in the theater, I hated it. Turns out, I was wrong. This is a fabulous, wonderfully crafted piece of 'Americana'. The more I watch, the more I learn.

It's hard to appreciate certain aspects of this drama, unless you've lived it. It's like tasting fine wine with 'virgin lips'.

Superior acting by superior actors. It's just what you would expect from Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks. The only reason I didn't give it 100% was the weak supporting cast.

La Bamba
La Bamba(1987)

Of course, I saw this years ago, but recently saw it, again. Classic. Arribita y arriba!

Loose Change 9/11: An American Coup

Best documentary I've seen.

By the way, if you try and download it on Itunes, it will tell you that it's NOT available in the U.S.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Michael Jackson's This Is It

I've been a Michael Jackson fan since 1983, when I was in 7th grade. Of course, I loved 'Thriller'. When I heard of the child molestation charges, at first, I thought 'no way'. But, I really didn't know, and it sort of put a dark cloud over Michael.

I saw the Beshear documentary, and I even thought that Michael had lost his mind. Then, I read the stories, and saw the interviews, and watched the court drama. I started to think that I may have been wrong to love this man and his music. I was convinced he was a 'freak'. Well, I can't discount everything but after seeing this I can tell you that I don't believe he ever molested a child. I think he loves the world too much. I know this is only a 2 hour documentary movie, but the man is a talent that the world will miss. I cried for the entire movie, and I hate to cry. This man, I believe was special. If you don't feel the same way, I respect your opinion. But, you will not change my mind.

[img][/img] Best Documentary of the past few years.

White Light/Black Rain: The Destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Powerful! Everybody should see this documentary, and then tell me if we should nuke Iraq. It's, especially important with the situation in North Korea, and Iran.

I believe that Nuclear technology, for weapons is the worst thing that has happened to the world.

The Caller
The Caller(2011)

I rented 5 or so horror films, expecting them all to suck. 4 of them did, but the other one was very entertaining. It, of course being, "The Caller". Well worth a rent.

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly

Not as spectacular as it's made out to be. It's interesting, but you really have to be in the mood for it. Feels like watching a painting.

In the Electric Mist

A complete mess of a movie. Halfway, it seems like the director didn't know if he was coming or going. A shame, because Goodman, and Jones are pretty good actors.

The Grey
The Grey(2012)

It's all the hype, this week. But, it will be forgotten, quickly. So tired of flashbacks to old girlfriends, and bartender, get me another drink. Cut to a bad 'Breakfast Club', around the fire, with a howl or two off in the distance.

The action is a fumbling mess. Just take the camera, and shake, shake, shake. The wolves.... Never mind . It's a bad movie.

The Double
The Double(2011)

Most of Richard Gere's movies are bad. This one, is no exception. Messy, and terribly acted.

The Fat Boy Chronicles

Screams of low-budget. The acting is very poor, and the story is predictable. However, it is watchable. Especially, with your child, who may be experiencing these problems.

The Innkeepers

Painfully slow and horrifically acted.

The Snowtown Murders

Daniel Henshall does a terrific job convincing us that he's a heartless serial killer. I didn't know the real story, so I had trouble following it. Nonetheless, it kept my attention and curiosity. Maybe, a little long. But, it might have to be that way, to develop.

Shark Night 3D

Incredibly bad. The worst acting without a prescription.

Paranormal Activity 3

Easily, the best of the three. Which, is not saying a lot. I did jump a couple times.

I can see why audiences liked it. Gordon-Levitt does a good job of acting. I didn't get the warm and fuzzy feeling that I was supposed to get. Nor did I really care how it ended. So, for me the movie is watchable, and fair.

The Guard
The Guard(2011)

Much of a ho-hum experience.

Act of Valor
Act of Valor(2012)

No real direction, and no real story. Could of been titled, "Modern Warfare". Lots of shooting, cool boats, and kick ass explosions. But, what is it all about? Even when it ended, I wasn't even sure what was accomplished. Kind of like real war, I guess.

Navy Seals are bad asses! Thank you,for your service.

The Wizard of Oz

Stands the test of time. Great movie for the whole family.

Real Steel
Real Steel(2011)

While silly, and predictable it's enjoyable with the right company (my kids). The story is almost carbon copied "Rocky".

Watched it, a second time. Enjoyed it, again.

A very hyped up movie. The only question is, does it live up to the hype? I say, "no". Brad Pitt is an 'over actor', and this film is no exception. Cliches like the daughter situation, seem crowbared in and unnecessary. Deleting these scenes might be better fore the movie even, because it cuts down the ridiculous run time of over 2 hours.

Worth a rent, but not this 'great' movie everybody makes it out to be.

For Hill to receive a nomination for best supporting actor, is an outrage and disgrace for the Oscars.

Another boring, familiar Mark Wahlberg movie. One thing that stuck out, Some of the movie seems to be missing. Towards the end, it seems as though the editors said, "F it, let's wrap it up, already.". I told myself that I wouldn't see another Wahlberg movie, unless it was Donnie. Guess that's what I get.

Nothing special, wait for the Blu-Ray to rent.

It goes without saying, John C Riley is one of the best actors Hollywood has to offer. This is no exception. "Terri" is a really good movie, because it's not in a hurry. It follows Terri, in day to day activities, so you get a better idea of what his life is like. A big, fat kid in a superficial world of high school kids.

Enjoyed it. Well worth a rent.

Evil Things
Evil Things(2009)

I'm definitely in the minority, because I thought it was terrific. It's "Blair Witch" and "Paranormal Activity" rolled into one. I think it's much better than those,. There are more surprises, and much better acting. I think the movie suffers a little from the characters and how they come across. They're spoiled rich kids who if they don't get their way, they sulk. That leads you to not care about them, and maybe even root for the other side.

Best horror movie since "Insidious".

The Presence
The Presence(2010)

I don't think a word is spoken, through the first half-hour. When they do talk, it only gets worse. The movie is extremely dull, and has no direction.

Final Destination 5

Well done. I enjoyed it, and want to see the 3D version, now. 5 is a surprisingly good number, for the sequels. This one, and "Fast Five" were both entertaining.

Side note: Miles Fisher bears a striking resemblance to Tom Cruise.

Cowboys & Aliens

What is this movie even about? I see cowboys and I see aliens, but what's the story? There is no method to this madness and messy film. Don't waste your time.

Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark

Feels more like a scary movie for kids, rather than adults. Bailee holds her own, and could pass for Katie Holmes real daughter. I didn't hate it, but surely didn't like it either.

I believe this movie could've been something special, if given direction. The cast is a good one, and the stories are interesting. The only problem, they go nowhere.

Hostel: Part III

Even being a fan of Hostel, I can tell you that this movie SUCKS! The F-word had to have been said 50,000 times or more.

My Week with Marilyn

So who can compare to Mariyn Monroe? Well, it's not Michelle Williams. To be fair, it's nobody. The movie is good for a rent. But, really nothing special. I would rather see a documentary on Monroe.

Liked the idea, but this movie is terrible. Which is a shame, because Ari Graynr is delightful. I'll have to keep my eye out for any of her other movies.

Waste of time.

A Perfect Getaway

The whole movie should be a deleted scene.

Another Year
Another Year(2010)

I tried to be patient with it, but it's just too boring.

Margin Call
Margin Call(2011)

I found it a bit difficult to care about anyone or anything going on. Except, for the dog dying. The movie is very flat, and never develops any of the characters.

The Kingdom
The Kingdom(2007)

Lots of mumbling dialog. Jamie Foxx has a 'Mark Walhberg' tick about him. He does a lot of 'no big deal, I have everything under control' acting. That's the only way I know to explain it, other than annoying and not believable. Stop whispering! I need to know whats going on, and I dont want to have to use subtitles to do so.

There's not a wasted moment, in this very well done documentary. I'm not a racing fan, but that didn't matter. It's the story, that is fascinating. I enjoyed it, from beginning to end.

I Saw the Devil

Pointless torture porn that just goes on and on, like Stephen Bishop. The revenge idea was at least a fresh idea.

The Loved Ones

"Misery" and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" on on one horror kabob platter. Fast paced, flawed, but fun.

Wake Wood
Wake Wood(2009)

Pet Cemetary for humans.....sort of. Honestly, I checked out after 20 mins. Not my type of movie.

Project Nim
Project Nim(2011)

Humans can be very cruel. What gives us the right?

Good documentary. Maybe, a little messy.

Cave of Forgotten Dreams

While the cave is amazing, the documentary of the cave is only so-so.

Hannibal Rising

This is just an awful movie. Silence of the Lambs is one of my favorite movies. To associate the two, is a disgrace.

Honestly, I don't know what the critics see in this one. The movie couldn't be any slower, or uninteresting. The "Ducky" outfit is so ....uhhh!

Take Shelter
Take Shelter(2011)

"A Beautiful Mind" was in the back of my head, the entire time. It's a good movie, not great, with no real ending. The acting is very good, and it probably will stick with me for a while.

On side note: What did the little deaf girl have to do with anything? I felt that could have been built upon more.

Dolphin Tale
Dolphin Tale(2011)

No surprises, You can predict every scene, and the acting is second-rate. My kids were as bored with it, as I.

Looks to me, Ashley has had work. Please stop!

Straw Dogs
Straw Dogs(2011)

James Woods, single handlely ruins this one. I had seen the bad reviews, so I wasn't expecting much. But, I was surprised that it got me interested in the story. Then comes Woods' over-the-top acting, that completely deflates anything the movie had going.

I enjoyed the movie for about 40 mins. Then, it seems to become repetitive and dull.

The Descendants

So, your wife that's cheating is in a coma. Your daughters are out of control, and say "fu-k", and "twat", every other word. You take them to find the man that your wife was cheating with, and somehow this is supposed to be interesting or even funny. It's not. It's bad.

The one good thing, is the performance by Shailene Woodley.

Barney's Version

It's rare that a movie has such terrific performances by the entire cast. Every character is so wonderfully acted, you forget it's only a movie. I never watch trailers, so I was surprised to see Hoffman, and Minnie Driver. (I think Minnine has gotten better looking with age).

It's been a while since a movie made me laugh out loud. This one does it without crowbared-in gross out sex jokes, that aren't funny, anyway. (The Hangover 2). The story is fun, but seems to dull a little towards the end. The picture gets a litlle messy at times. But, it is a fine film.

Room 6
Room 6(2006)

It's worth a look.

Red State
Red State(2011)

Best movie I've seen this year! Michael Parks put on a clinic of acting. Kevin Smith is becoming one of my favorites, because he takes chances and puts away the cookie-cutter..., well...

I love Muhammad Ali. But, this movie is flat. I can't really put my finger on it. It felt like a bunch of reenactments strung together. Jon Voight's makeup is the worst.

The movie does not do Ali justice. I'd rather just watch a documentary like "When We Were Kings".

Muhammad Ali is my hero, and although I appreciate the movie's efforts, he deserves better. What a great man, who changed the world.

Everything Must Go

After an hour, the film comes to a screeching halt. It is in no way funny, or interesting.

I feel like the only reason this movie was made, was for IMAX. The plot is pitiful, and the direction is some of the worst.

Wrong Turn 4
Wrong Turn 4(2011)

Sooooo bad, that I'm not going to waste my time with it.

Crazy, Stupid, Love.

I was enjoying the movie, but then all of a sudden I realized that it doesn't know how to end. End, already! The last scene, at the graduation is ridiculous, and almost ruins the entire movie.

Not sure why the critics didn't like this one. I thought it was pretty funny.

Apollo 18
Apollo 18(2011)

I do like the idea, very much. However, the movie is meiocre.

I would describe the movie as "Blair Witch Project" on the moon.

It's good, it's bad. It's whatever.

Paranormal Activity 2

An-tic-ipation, an-tic-ipa-aaa-tion is making me bored.

Dream House
Dream House(2011)

If I were the director, the entire dumb movie would be a deleted scene.

Wrong Turn 2: Dead End

If you're browsing thru the horror section, at your local video store, you'll come across a thousand really bad movies and a couple descent ones. This falls in the descent category. It bloody, and gruesome, and holds your interest. The acting is what you'd expect from a "B-movie".

Win Win
Win Win(2011)

Giamatti is too good of a talent, for this VERY "Hallmark-type" movie of the week. Take it, or leave it.

Scream 4
Scream 4(2011)

It is as bad as I thought it would be. I was more interested in how bad Courtesy Cox's plastic surgery looks.

Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead

It is what it is. It's better than most horror movies you'll pick up.

What's good: Jude Law, Matt Damon, and the idea.
What's bad: It's too long, and slow.

Wait for the DVD.

Killer Elite
Killer Elite(2011)

Director Gary McKendry wins worst director of the year award. This movie might have well been in Chinese, because I couldn't follow or understand it at all. Robert Deniro is doing a really good job of ruining his career and credibility.

An awful, awful movie. Worst I've seen, this year.

I came away thinking, "this could have been good", but, it wasn't. It's painfully slow. When I say slow, I'm talking they could've cut 50 minutes of it.

Of course, there has to be a love story, and a bad one at that. For a movie to be called "Drive", and represent itself as such, there's not much driving in it.

Hard Eight
Hard Eight(1996)

Love Paul Thomas Anderson movies, so this gets graded, somewhat on a curve. The movie does hold your attention, because od Phillip Baker Hall's character. Outside of that, it's nothing special.

Jack Goes Boating

If Ambien were a movie, this would be it. ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz! I wish Hoffman would do a good movie, every once in a while.

Love Liza
Love Liza(2002)

Not even Philip Seymour Hoffman can save this very depressing, boring movie. I only give it a 20% because Hoffman gets a pass.

The Sweet Hereafter

I'm not as blown away, as all the critics seem to be. I don't like movies, where it seems a writer sat down and makes a "cookie cutter" story. Kids killed on a bus, people are sad.

When I'm told it's based, loosely on a true story, I throw up a red flag. Other than boring, the only thing this movie does is remind me that lawyers are, mostly scumbags.

The Wrestler
The Wrestler(2008)

The parallel lives of two individuals is similar to "Leaving Las Vegas". Mickey Rourke is superb, and the acting and script is outstanding. 4th on my all time favorite movie list.

Rourke not getting the Oscar, is 'robbery' in the first. (Sean Penn won, for "Milk").

Sarah's Key
Sarah's Key(2011)

I couldn't take my eyes off of this fascinating story. The acting isn't very good, but it doesn't have to be.

Another Earth

An extremely bizarre, unlikely, adventure. This one had me wondering if somebody slipped me some acid in my diet cherry coke. If somebody showed up at your door step, offering a free cleaning trial, would you let them in and start looking through a telescope at another Earth? I wouldn't. This film is ridiculous.

Fright Night
Fright Night(2011)

I was bored from start to finish. The scene where Farrel is 'borrowing' a six-pack from his neighbor is so bizarre and insulting to the audience. He keeps putting his foot over the door's threshold, like a school yard 5th grader. I kept looking around the quiet theater to see if anybody else was bored to tears. Finally, I decided I have better things to do with my life, and left.

8213: Gacy House

So, let's take our handy dandy cameras to where John Wayne Gacy's (a man who killed and tortured helpless boys, and was a disgusting human being) house used to be. Let's try to capitalize on that and make some straight to DVD shit of a movie.

Starts off pretty good, but then just seems to lay there. Clive Owen is not believable, and that kills it. Plus, the directing is bad, so the movie is all over the place.

Nightmare Man

Horrible film with even worse actors. The "After Dark Horrorfest" has suckered me into the last film I'll watch by them.
The beginning couldn't have been more annoying. "Bill. Bill, where are you? Bill. Bill. Bill, are you up there? Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill, Bill?" Shut up!!!

Throw out the ridiculous first 10 minutes, and you have a descent horror movie. Better actors and a little polishing, this could have been something special for the horror genre.

The Crimson Rivers

I think Jean Reno is one of the worst actors, Hollywood has to offer. This is a borefest from the opening credits.

The Ward
The Ward(2011)

It's been a long time since "Halloween", and a long time since Carpenter made a good horror film. This one is insulting. Enough already, with the endless, severe thunderstorm and it's fake strobe.

It is what it is. Cliche after cliche.

Small Town Murder Songs

I'm not here to babysit your movie! This is painfully slow and boring.

30 Minutes or Less

SHALLOW. You usually know, a movie doesn't have a lot of good ideas with a run time of 1 Hr and 23 mins. This one didn't have anything good, and felt like 3 hours. I'd be curious to know the number of times the F-word was used. "F this", and "F that", and "big ass titties." The plot is dumb, it's not funny, and the acting is really, really bad.

I probably shouldn't have gone to see it. I knew what it was going to be. I got what I deserved. BTW, nobody was laughing in the theater. I found that more interesting than the movie.

I'm sure in 1972, (the year I was born) this was a 'shocking' movie. In 2011, it's a bit dated, but still worth watching. Slow and deliberate, all actors do a very good job of convincing you, they are up a river, without the paddle.

The Town
The Town(2010)

Jeremy Renner is the real stand-out. Lots of action. Just what I was looking for. Yes, it did remind me of 'Heat'. But, not as good.
The one 'hangup' I had, was the ridiculous love story. As usual, Hollywood thinks they have to put in a love story.

UPDATE: After watching it a second time, I was very annoyed at how the actors set up each others lines as if they wer bowling. " youre talking to the F.B.I.?". "Yes, I don't know if I should tell them about the tattoo I saw on the neck of the guy.". Ben Affleck is a terrible actor.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Damn near, unwatchable. The computer-generated graphics are beyond bad. The acting, if you want to call it that is terrible.

Laughs are often.

Smokey and the Bandit

Of course, it's dated. "Breaker, Breaker, can you hear me now?" But, it's a great classic and Sheriff Buford T. Justice is just the best. Avoid the sequels, at all costs.

Cast Away
Cast Away(2000)

I believe the older (or wiser) you are, the more you can appreciate what this movie is all about. What I mean is, in today's busy world the more important you think things might be, they're probably not.
Hanks carries the movie, and the cinematography is incredible.

The Lives of Others

For the casual movie goer, I think this movie would bore. It is extremely slow, and having to read it doesn't help. However, the ending and the way it wraps up is worth the wait. I think it may have been much better had scenes been deleted. You could easily throw out an hour.

It's probably the best horror movie in years. Most movies in the horror genre rely mostly on gore. They seemed to have forgotten about the scare tactic. But, this one is loaded. I jumped, several times, and even yelled "O shit", once or twice.

The few negatives are: 1) I felt it was rushed at times. The run time is an hour and 40 minutes, but easily could have been two. 2) The two goof balls that do their best T.A.P.S. Impressions, were very lame. They come dangerously close to single-handedly ruining the movie. 3) The scenes of the husband at school could have been deleted. These three things keep it from being a great movie.

Captain America: The First Avenger

I quickly lost interest in this one. Spends way too much time developing the character, and the background music!!! Does there have to be a love interest in every movie? If so, can we at least make her hot?

The Switch
The Switch(2010)

Too scripted and predictable, but somewhat entertaining. Bateman deserves better.

Personal Effects

Kutcher can actually act. I can see where people would bail on this movie, because it's very simple. Simple, but if you're patient, tells a story that is heartfelt. Worth a rent.

The Social Network

It's entertaining, but it isn't what everybody says it is. Jesse Eisenberg talks so fast, I had a hard time keeping up with what he was saying.

The Lincoln Lawyer

Couple good ideas, but very sloppy. One minute McConaughey is on top of the world, and the next he's downing a bottle of Jack and giving the old, "My father..." speech.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

Very cookie cutter horror. Worth a rent, though. The voice of Freddie is awkward.

Torture him, no don't, yes do, no don't, yes do, no don't.

The Tourist
The Tourist(2010)

Like a dog that chases it's tail, round and round it goes. With Depp and Angelina, I expected much, much more.

A waste of Diane Lane, if you ask me. Bargain bin material, at best.

Bad Boys
Bad Boys(1982)

Fantastic movie. This is where you kinda know that Sean Penn is more than just the stoner from 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High'. It is a bit out dated, but the story and acting makes you forget the year it was made.

Horrible Bosses

This is not funny. Bateman is way too good for this. I'm supposed to believe that Jennifer Aniston sexually harasses a guy, to the the point he plots to kill her?
I feel movies are in this cycle where it's funny, just to say, "cock" or "fuck". It's really not enough.

Not bad for a B-movie. Predictable, but entertaining. A little too long in the warehouse, makes you aware of the movie budget.

Black Hawk Down

Sets the benchmark of great war movies. A kick-ass movie! A little slow at the beginning.

The Tree of Life

If Salvador Dali made a film, a bad film, this would be it. The only thing good about it, was the child actors' performances and Sean Penn. The concept for the story might have been interesting, but played out to be BORING!! Several persons got up and left the theater. I should have done the same.

Love Love Love this movie. Give me a pill like that!! Deniro....finally, a good movie.

Back to the Future Part III

Not as good as the first, but still good.

Back to the Future Part II

Not as good as the first, but still pretty good.

A Few Good Men

I believe the movie is overrated. Having said that, I don't think you'll find a better performance by any actor, in any movie, on any given day than what was displayed by Jack Nicholson. He plays a marine like a marine would play a marine. R. Lee Ermey from 'Full Metal Jacket' comes to mind.

I also, thought Keifer Sutherland was outstanding. What a performance. But, the storyline is just pretty good; not great. (is that where you'd use a semicolon?) After seeing it 10 or 20 times, the only part, or parts I'm interested in have Nicholson in them. If not for Jack, this movie would probably not have done so well.

Bad Teacher
Bad Teacher(2011)

"Bad Movie" would be a better title. Nothing funny about it. Cameron Diaz doing her best Daisy Duke impression is really shameful. I might be in the minority, but she's not that hot. Timberlake should stick to singing.

Roger Ebert said, "You know those annual Bad Sex Awards for the worst sex scene in a movie? Their dry-humping scene deserves an award for the decade. The scene itself is pathetic."

There's no reason to like Elizabeth Halsey (Diaz). Her character, or lack there of is never developed, nor is any character, for that matter.

It's a movie that will be forgotten.

Groundhog Day

I've never been a big Bill Murray fan. Doesn't mean I'm right, but it's my review and here goes. I really liked the concept. It's a movie that you can't forget, because it's very clever. However, that alone doesn't make it great. I think if it'd been Jim Carey playing the part, I would probably have liked it much better. Murray just seems so uninterested. I know that's probably what he was going for, but it's annoying.

-----Little humor, I couldn't resist.

Man Push Cart

I've seen some boring movies in my day, but this one takes the cake. Sooooo BORING. I had to bail, halfway thru it.

Black Swan
Black Swan(2010)

I couldn't take my eyes off of it. Even as the credits rolled, I sat there and said to myself, "Wow"!

Darren Aronofsky sucks you into the mind of 'Nina' (Portman) and won't let you leave. A masterful job by Natalie Portman, who I remembered as the little girl in 'Heat'. But, she has 'spread her wings'.

Best movie I've seen this year.

The Hangover Part II

At the time of this review, it got a 34-percent from critics, and a 94-percent from the audience? What's with that? Turns out the critics are right. Take out the word "Fu@k", and the standard sex jokes and the movie has nothing left.

I read other reviews, and people say they couldnt stop laughing, and it's the funniest. But, as my theatre was packed to capacity, the laughs were few and far. The Tyson cameo was unbearable to watch.

Kill the Irishman

I enjoyed every minute of it. Great mafia movie, with a different flavor. You'll recognize most the characters from previous movies, and 'The Sopranos'.

Super 8
Super 8(2011)

Note to J.J.: Lay off the imposed lighting effects. They've become annoying and unnecessary. Also, the voice-over dubbing is quite noticeable. It takes away credibility from the movie.

The film is slow, and dull. The characters aren't developed enough to really care about, and the ending is rushed and unbelievable. Too many cliche' type relationships. "Dad, you don't understand me since mom tragically died." Come on, really?!

The New Daughter

Worth a dollar rent, but that's about it. That's a shame, too because I do like Kevin Costner. Reminds me of "What Lies Beneath", except not as good. The ending is rushed, the story is messy.

Dear John
Dear John(2010)

This predictable, boring borefest drags on and on and on. If I were in a car and had it on Blu-Ray, I would throw it out the window.

The Mechanic
The Mechanic(2011)

Watching this, I couldn't help but wonder. What makes Bourne, Bond, and Mission Impossible work so well, and movies like this fall way short? Could be the acting or the writing. But, I think it's when the actors become aware of the camera. They overact giving lines like, "You're the disease, and I'm the cure." Once that happens, the movie loses credibility and then it's all over.

While the movie's not bad, it's not good either. It's just sort of there, like corn at Thanksgiving dinner.

Fast Five
Fast Five(2011)

A fun, action packed adventure. Acting is sub-par, but duh. I knew that going in.

Sniper: Reloaded

You know it's going to be bad, and it is. Most of the shooting is from the mouths of bad actors.

The Experiment

A good idea, but a not so good movie. Whitaker does his job on giving credibility to the film, but bad direction usually takes you nowhere.

I bailed after 30 minutes.

Scary Movie
Scary Movie(2000)

It's a parody, and for that I love it. Could have done without 'Shorty', but the rest is great.

"I said don't bother me, when I'm cleaning my room". -Special Officer Doofy

All Good Things

The acting is solid, but I lost interest at about the halfway point. I think what goes wrong is that you've seen this story many times. The story is just very stale; poor rich kid.

Charlie St. Cloud

Take it for what it is, a teenage chick flick. But for me, I couldn't have been more bored. Cliche' after cliche' and predictable..

One other thing, the green screen and fake woods was pathetic. The cinematography gets an F.

The Last Exorcism

After hearing bad things about it, I didn't expect a whole lot. This movie delivered.

Like a week old 2-liter bottle of caffeine free diet cola.

500 Days of Summer

Young love hurts, and this movie does a
superb job at capturing that. I'm glad I saw it, very glad. This is one of those movies that will be the benchmark for those that cone after.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps

An hour, or so into this one, I was wondering why I had tuned out. Michael Douglas is one of my favorites, and I liked the fist Wall Street. Then, it hit me. I just don't care about the characters, or the story. You might have to be into the stock market, and S&Ps to get much out of this "Stone".

The Next Three Days

While there are some major flaws, this was a very entertaining ride. I wish there was more time spent on why his wife was arrested, that seemed to be an afterthought.

The Adjustment Bureau

True to form, Matt Damon does another bad movie. It's been a long time since 'Bourne' and 'Good Will Hunting'.

"This is the trouble with "The Adjustment Bureau." It reminds you of lots of other movies that are better than "The Adjustment Bureau." -James Verniere from the Boston Herald.

Fair Game
Fair Game(2010)

If you enjoy politics and conspiracy theories (which I do), then this is your kind of movie. Penn, of course is very good, and I could watch Naomi Watts all day.

WOW! What a fun movie.

Many people will probably want to compare it to Toy Story 3, and I'd say it's comparable. I'd like to see it, again.

P.S. Glad it wasn't in 3-D

Prodigal Sons

Documentaries are my thing. I love 'em. Especially, the real good ones like "Loose Change", and "Food Inc". This is a good one. While not an informative documentary, it kept my attention till the end.

The best thing to say about this documentary, is "Thank You" to the men and women of our U.S. Military.
This is an outstanding look into what our soldiers go through, day in and day out. I am humbled.

The acting is so bad (namely, Billy Bob), that it's insulting. The only good thing in this movie is the '71 Chevelle SS. I like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, but not in this.

Saw 3D
Saw 3D(2010)

Mandylor is a terrible actor.
Having said that, this is a terrible movie. "Bobby, Bobby, Bobby, Bob-----by." Shut up!!!
The "Saw" series is officially over, for me.

The King's Speech

A wonderful movie about perseverance, and friendship. Colin Firth really does a fantastic job and deserves the 'Golden Globe' for best actor. But, the real stand-out, in my opinion is Geoffrey Rush. Just a brilliant performance, as King George VI's speech therapist.

Let Me In
Let Me In(2010)

From the opening scene, I knew that this was going to be a different kind of 'horror' movie. Different, meaning good. The young actors do a stellar job for a stellar storyline. The perfect ratio of gore to dialogue makes it better than most.
This isn't your average 'cookie-cutter' vampire movie. This one has flavor, and is different. I'd go so far as to say it's the best since "The Lost Boys".

The Art Of The Steal

People are greedy, and money rules everything. Go figure! But, this one bored me.

The Rite
The Rite(2011)

Hopkins does his best, but can't wake this snoozefest. Just a bunch of meaningless chatter that quickly becomes annoying. Other than Anthony Hopkins, the cast is amateur and bad.

Robin Hood
Robin Hood(2010)

I kept watching and waiting, but got very little of anything. The story is just not there.

Good acting, good story, and believability overcome the low-budget obstacle. The believability was quite important. There weren't any of those 'yeah, right!' moments. Reminded me of 'Cujo'. Worth a rent

Dead Air
Dead Air(2009)

To even bad-mouth this dumb movie, wouldn't be worth the effort

Not since 'Casino' (182 times) has the F-Bomb been so abused. It's used so much, that it really becomes irritating. The acting, in this DREADFUL movie is laughable. Some of the worst I've seen. Makes Keaunu Reeves look like Jack Nicholson. With a shameful cameo by Laurence Fishburne. He has a scene where he babbles for some 20-minutes about ...something. Come on, Larry you're better than that. Or, at least I thought you were.
On a positive note (which is hard to do), the Blu-Ray looks spectacular. But, it's like putting rims on a Gremlin. I'm glad it flopped, at the box-office.

Family Guy Presents: It's a Trap

As usual, Family Guy brings major laughs!

Tron Legacy
Tron Legacy(2010)

Heavy on visuals, VERY light on plot, and never develops characters that you care about. Honestly, I couldn't sit through it, again.

Despicable Me

I never could get into this one. That's a pretty shallow review, but so is the movie.

Good, but far from great. Very similar to '127 Hours', with the same sort of problem. Not enough story to fill the typical 90 minute movie. I really started to become annoyed with how often the cell phone was used. Flashback to the era of 'Smokey And The Bandit' and the C.B. radio. ("Breaker, Breaker to the Bandit").
Good ending too.

Death Race 2
Death Race 2(2010)

For what it is, it's entertaining.

True Grit
True Grit(2010)

I don't think that any of the actors did anything special. Nothing worthy of any awards. But, when it came down to it I really enjoyed it. I won't be seeing it, again. Once was enough.

On a side note, Matt Damon is bordering on becoming ' just another actor.'. His last three efforts have been suspect.

Skeleton Crew

Remember way back when video renting first began? You'd go into your local video store and just picked up a horror film, and it turned out to suck donkey balls? Well, relive those moments with this piece of s@it movie.

I truly can say that I've seen the worst acting ever. I mean worse than Keanu Reeves (Woooh!) I enjoy a young girl running around a mental institute in only her panties and shirt, just like the next man. But, I do need a little and I mean just a little more.

This movie is so bad.... well, you get the point. I know it says I voted 10% but that's the minimum they let you. Truth be told, it owes me change!

The Kids Are All Right

Two of my favorite actresses, Julianne Moore (Boogie Nights) and Annette Bening (American Beauty), grace the screen with their impeccable acting talents. Having said that, the script seemed a bit skinny.

Roger Ebert, said it best, "'The Kids Are All Right' centers on a lesbian marriage, but is not about one. It's a film about marriage itself, an institution with challenges that are universal." That's exactly right.

Bening is so convincing in her role, that the movie works. Without her, I feel this might have been forgettable.

Death Sentence

Poorly written, poorly acted, and the cinematography is horrible. That's a shame, too because Kevin Bacon is much better than this crap.

127 Hours
127 Hours(2010)

About a year ago I saw a movie called "Touching The Void." I really loved that movie, and was suspect that this one would be very similar, and it was.

It's just about the right running time, too. If it had been longer, I might have become bored with it. Just the right amount of hand-cam too. I was afraid that hand-cam, "Blair Witch" deal might get out of control, but it did not.

It's not a movie I would watch over and over, so I'll skip buying the Blu-Ray. But, I"m glad I saw it.

The Pelican Brief

Without Denzel Washington, I would have turned the movie off after an hour. The acting is bad, which surprised me considering the cast. It is definitely dated to '93 and doesn't hold up. I bought the cheap DVD but it'll make a good $5 coaster.

The Fighter
The Fighter(2010)

If you've ever seen the Mad-TV skit where Mark Wahlberg talks to animals, then you know the type of performance to expect. If you've heard the recording of Christian Bale going ballistic on a member of the lighting crew, then you can understand why I can't nominate him for "Person of the Year." Saying that, Bale's performance is magnificent. Far superior to that of Wahlberg's. (I don't think he's had a good performance since Boogie Nights, where his ego was overinflated).

The real credit to this movie should go to the supporting acting crew. When I say crew, I mean Amy Adams, Melissa Leo, Mickey O'Keefe, Jack McGee, and the fine, fine actresses that played the 'sisters'; Brilliant performances by them. It's not often that those 'supporting' actors carry the movie. But, in this case they do.
What's bad about it? The 'videogame-type' commentary of the fights is insulting. The script is cliche'.

Amy Adams in her underwear never hurt anybody, either.

Horrible acting, with combined horrible voice-overs, combined with a horrible script and you have the horrible Cliffhanger. In my humble opinion, it's Stallone worst acting performance next to 'Over The Top.'

Dark Water
Dark Water(2005)

This might be the most boring movie I've seen this year. What is John C. Riley doing in this bore fest?

Fun for the whole family. Will Farrell was made for this role. Although, not my favorite Christmas movie (which goes to Christmas Vacation), it's one that I'm sure I'll see a few more times.

Three VERY boring stories that are supposed to come together, but when they do you don't care. At best, it could have been edited to an hour and a half. But, even then is forgettable.

Point Break
Point Break(1991)

I know it's corny. I know Keanu Reeves is the worst actor in Hollywood, but this movie rocks. It's a guilty pleasure, that I've seen a hundred times and might watch it, tonight.

It's very "Tony Scott." The only thing missing is a guy standing up saying, "Maverick's reengaging, sir!"

The plot is thin, but the cinematography and sound is grade A. Denzel does what he does best and that's promote charisma.

On the negative side, the play-by-play call from the news cast does a really good job in trying to make it a corny movie. "...I twisted my ankle!! (It looks like he twisted his ankle.)"

Knight & Day
Knight & Day(2010)

I would describe it as having pizza with only cheese. It's O.K., but could have been much better.

Grown Ups
Grown Ups(2010)

I got the feeling that even Chris Rock knew how bad this movie was going to be, by the way he acted. This is really a bad movie.

Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole

You know those movies that you sit through with your kid because it's your kid. Well, this one is really hard to sit through. The 90 minutes seemed to take hours. A VERY dull script and VERY poor animation make it painful to watch.

Constant fighting might make you want to reconsider, if you're taking a younger child to see it.

After wasting 30 minutes of my life, I decided to cut my loses and walked out of this garbage. Hayden Christensen and Paul Walker; if they're in it expect it to suck. I'm really tired of taking so-called 'rappers' and putting them in a movie. I can't imagine anybody watching this movie and saying, "Man, that was really good."

Yo, yo, yo, dis is one of the worst movies of the year. Word to yo mother.

The Breakfast Club

I really appreciate movies where the dialogue carries the entire movie. Example: Glengarry Glenn Ross To me, this is the best movie about growing up and finding yourself. John Hughes really captured the 'teen' years with "Sixteen Candles", and this is no different. Great cast, as well.

Hot Tub Time Machine

John Cusack would have been "Better Off Dead", than to make this disaster.
How many times can you say 'fu@k' in a movie, and it be funny? This movie felt flat from the start.

It's usually a good sign, when the audience claps at the end of a movie. I mean, who in the movie is going to hear it? The performances by Malkovich and Lane are fantastic. I'm glad a movie was made, finally about this terrific animal.

Jackass 3
Jackass 3(2010)

This is the beginning of the end of a great run. This movie felt like it was running out of gas, before it got started. Shoving apples up asses and playing t-ball with guys junks (not to mention grandpa Knoxville) is just not funny. It's stupid.

The Stepfather

Cliché-ridden, with no fresh takes on anything. It's watchable, but barely. The acting is actually descent, but the they had no chance with the script they were given.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

[img][/img] Classic.

The Matrix
The Matrix(1999)

Even with Keanu Reeves, who I consider one of the worst actors in Hollywood, this film is perfect. AWESOME.

Agent Smith: I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You're a plague and we are the cure.

American Beauty

One of the greatest movies of all time.
1970 Pontiac Firebird. The car I've always wanted and now I have it. I rule!

The Bourne Identity

I love the Bourne character, and the movies. I gave it 100% and I've seen it about 10 times. Matt Damon is at his best in this role. I really hope he makes a 4th movie.

October Sky
October Sky(1999)

Great family movie. Reminded me of "Stand By Me", but maybe a little better!
Coal mining may be your life, but it's not mine. I'm never going down there again. I wanna go into space.

Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump(1994)

A masterpiece. Tom Hanks is in top form, and the writing is brilliant; not to mention the soundtrack.

The Bourne Supremacy

I love the Bourne series. Matt Damon plays them to perfection. I hear #4 is in works. I hope so.

If not for Moore, the film would be nothing. It tries really hard to be "Fatal Attraction" of the 'new'. But, it fails.

The Crazies
The Crazies(2010)

This movie could've been really good. I was really enjoying it, until the army showed up and started giving away the whole plot of the movie.

A Single Man
A Single Man(2009)

An "artsy-fartsy' type movie. I'll admit, that even with such a low rating of 30% I couldn't stop watching. I was intrigued with what was going to happen next. The sad truth was, nothing.

Star Trek
Star Trek(2009)

I, typically don't give 100's because I believe, a lot of times, there's room for improvement. But, if there is in this movie, I didn't see it.

This is an incredible ride! The story is fantastic, and drew me in to how they all came to be the starship 'Enterprise'. Everything is tight and very well done. The cinematography is the BEST I've ever seen.

Not since the 'Matrix' have I enjoyed a science fiction movie like I did this one.

My only regret is that I didn't see it in Blu-Ray, because I'm sure it's stunning. I loved the subtle glare on screen to give a different, realistic feel.

Anything bad? I didn't like the actor who played Dr McCoy, but I'll get over it.

(Update)The Blu-Ray version is the best I've seen.

The Departed
The Departed(2006)

There are times when a movie or an album, artist just captures the meaning of the world, at the time. It could be right or wrong but it just does. This is the movie that does just that. Not only the best actors of my time are in this movie, the best director. the best song in a movie (comfortably numb) it just works.

Most movies can be debated, most music can be debated, but this is one of those that if you try to debate, you don't look that smart.

The movie is held together, of course (and again) by Hopkins. I found myself, much like "Silence Of The Lambs" rooting for the bad guy.
If I were director, though I'd cut out the whole "love" thing between Pike and Gosling. Please, Hollywood not every movie needs a love story in it.

Solitary Man
Solitary Man(2010)

Bored to tears. I can't believe Michael Douglas keeps choosing these roles.

Super Size Me

Very well done. Sometimes the person doing the documentary becomes very annoying. (Michael Moore, for instance). This guy did not. I knew McDonald's was bad for you. After watching this, I'll never eat there, again.

Winter's Bone

While It offers some attention, I don't understand the super-high praise that the critics have given it.

It's par with a movie of the week. I found that it took a long time to get started. Almost became boring at times. As hard as it tried, you never really care about any of the characters.

The Expendables

Don't expect a "Gone With The Wind" story. But, if you like action, then you'll love this one! I mean, why else would see Stallone, Willis, A-Nold, Jet Li and Stone Cold? For the acting? No, for the kick ass-ness.
I'm just glad that Steven Seagal didn't sign up. That might of made it a little corny! Even though, it's a little corny!

If you like "Modern Warfare" then this is FOR YOU!!

The Other Guys

I've always rooted for Mark Wahlberg. I guess growing up on Marky Mark and his movie "Fear", I was a fan. Then 'Boogie Nights' blew me away. But, lately I haven't had much to cheer about.
Is this movie bad? No, it's not. But it's not good either. I didn't really follow the story. Who are they chasing, and why are they chasing them? Just a mess of a story.
Now, Eva Mendes helped a lot. The best part of the movie is the beginning. Something happens (I won't spoil it) and then the movie just sorta dries up.

The Karate Kid

I promised myself, I wasn't going to see this movie. But, when you have children, you don't always get to pick the movies.

I'm not a fan of remakes. Especially, when the original is already perfect. One thing this one does, is show how better the original is. The acting is terrible.

If I were stranded on an island with only a VCR and this movie, I'd eat the VCR.

Have you ever wondered why there are deleted scenes? Well, this is the reason. You probably, could have done away with an hour of this dreadful movie.
Depressing, really long, over-hyped movie. I guess, I hated it. Could you, please stop playing the "mystery building" music throughout the entire movie. I don't think it ever stopped.

Case 39
Case 39(2010)

A preposterous plot, and beyond terrible acting. Not even drive-in material.

A very cute film that adults will enjoy. The characters are developed well, and the story is very creative.

Good horror flick. You truly believe that this man is a crazy lunatic. Reminded me a little of "Henry: Portrait of A Serial Killer."

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

The target audience, I'm sure is middle school. Good thing, cause I really felt like I was watching a middle school play.

You've seen it before; accident, none of the phones work, cheap motel, blah, blah, blah.
Third rate production, fourth rate acting.

The Marine 2
The Marine 2(2009)

Pretty funny that this garbage is even on Blu-Ray.

Would you like to buy a vowel: T_rr_bl_!

Toy Story 3
Toy Story 3(2010)

I will go out on a limb and say that this might be the best kids movie ever made. The story is terrific, the toys have a personality all their own.

The movie is imaginative, terrific, and my choice for movie of the year. I can't say enough good things about this excellent movie.

Running Scared

Nothing is linear, nothing is clear. I kept waiting and waiting for something. Take out the four-letter words and you don't have much of script left. Very amateur, at best.

The Human Centipede (First Sequence)

I should be totally disgusted with this 'horror' flick, but I really wasn't. I think one good thing, is that it kept moving. It never gave itself time to become boring.

It's a guilty pleasure, 'B-rate' horror movie.

Shrek the Third

I think the writers were stretching for material, in this one. Not funny, not entertaining almost dumb.

Shrek Forever After

While the story is the same, the movie is pretty good. I really liked Puss In Boots.

It definitely makes a difference to see it with your children.

Soul Men
Soul Men(2008)

I was just flippin' channels and started watching this. While it won't win an Oscar for anything it is pretty funny.

The Shortcut
The Shortcut(2009)

It IS as bad as you think it is. Plus, I noticed the sound editing is the worst. 'Happy Madison' should stick with "comedy".

His Name Was Jason: 30 Years of Friday the 13th

[img][/img] This is really for the 'hardcore' Friday The 13th fans. The documentary, if anything just convinces you that you were a 'tard for watchin' parts 4 thru 10.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

The movie should be called, "The Girl With The Cigarettes". Her constant smoking became annoying. The movie tries to paint this picture of an abused, very smart (with a photographic memory), girl who can handle herself but not able to show love. The only problem is that you never, really feel sorry for her.

Anyway, I think most critics give a foreign film a pass. I don't know what that is, but if this movie had been acted by Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman, cause that's basically what the movie will remind you of, they would have trashed it. It's the same ole' mystery story with a twist, that ends the same as all other movies.

I felt there were a lot of unnecessary additions to the movie. One being the sexually abusive probation officer. Is that just for shock value? Because, it really didn't fit the story. The whole grabbing at the computer to figure out a problem was unrealistic.

Average, at best. Overhyped. Wait for the DVD.

Step Brothers

Funny parts, if you don't take the movie seriously. Raw humor(which I like).

The Sandlot
The Sandlot(1993)

Not as good as "The Goonies", but worth watching with your kids.

Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade

Being a gamer, since the late 70's myself, I can relate to this. But, it's a little short on substance. They spend too much time (they meaning 'Twin Galaxies') patting themselves on the back. I'd rather see more of the video game play.

Session 9
Session 9(2001)

Nice location but a very slow movie.

Metallica: Some Kind of Monster

Little too long. I would have rather seen how Metallica produced "Black", not "St. Anger".

Fish Tank
Fish Tank(2010)

This reminded me of 'Precious'. The critics loved it and it's great acting and blah, blah, blah. Truth is it's low-budget and looks it, the story you've seen over and over (poor little girl). Tired of these types of movies. "Cry Me A River".

Wadd: The Life and Times of John C. Holmes

Get a bunch of old porn "stars" together, and have everyone of them talk about how big John Holmes' unit is. That is "Wadd: The Life & Times Of John C. Holmes."

Reign Over Me

It's usually a bad sign if I check the time to see how much longer a movie has. When I checked this one, it had 50 minutes to go.

Not even Don Cheadle can save this depressing bore fest. Sandler should probably stick to being somewhat funny.

Beyond the Mat

Of course, living in the Mid-South I grew up on wrestling. Jerry "The King" Lawler, and Hulk-a-Mania, BROTHER! Lately, I've become fascinated with the 'other side' of wrestling. The downside. This was entertaining, especially the honestly of Jake "The Snake" Roberts.

Falling Down
Falling Down(1993)

Ever had a bad day?

The acting is not great, and the script is a little light. But, it is entertaining.

The nominees for the worst actor in a shit-stained movie are... Hayden Christensen in "Awake".

If this guy isn't one of the worst actor in Hollywood, then it must be Keanu Reeves. Have you ever heard of a Blu-Ray drink coaster?

First of all, I've never seen a performance by a child like I did from Bailee Madison. Keep an eye on her.

The movie can be summarized by saying it is a film about post traumatic stress syndrome. You've probably seen this before. But, what makes this one different is the the incredible performance by Toby Maquire.

Green Zone
Green Zone(2010)

While it's far from "Bourne", the movie is still pretty good. The camera work is similar to "Black Hawk Down". I'm a sucker for war movies, anyway.

This one is just O.K.

Capitalism: A Love Story

While I sympathize with what he's saying, it's the way he says it that is bothersome. Michael has this sarcasim in his voice that quickly becomes annoying. I find myself more irritated with Moore's commentary, than I am interested in what he's saying.

I would recommend 'Loose Change' for those who are interested in documentaries.

Crazy Heart
Crazy Heart(2009)

It's obvious that Jeff Bridges is a really good actor. But, singing is another thing. If you want to sit through hours of bad country music and watching a man drink and smoke, then this is for you.

I found it as the type of movie you might see on 'Lifetime'. Nothing special.

Alice in Wonderland

What a dreadful movie. Characters that are forgettable. A story that is just way out there. This is a real mess. It looks very 'CGI', for the lack of a better term. Nothing like 'Avatar'. 'Avatar' brought 3D back to life. 'Alice' brings it back down.

Depp mumbles to the point you can't understand him. I found myself saying, "huh?", quite often.

After 20 minutes, I was totally disengaged. At least my $5 coke was pretty good.

In the Cut
In the Cut(2003)

To call this movie garbage would be polite.

Taking Lives
Taking Lives(2004)

I guess this is Angelina's attempt to better her husband. This is no where near as good as "Seven".

For the record, Ethan Hawke is a bad actor. However, this movie was doomed from the beginning. It is ridiculous, stupid, and predictable.

I don't know why Sutherland even blinked at this crap.

Dead Man Walking

I agree with Roger Ebert when he says, "I love a movie that doesn't need to resolve itself." How true!! Not all movies have to end happily.

Two unbelievable perfomances by Penn (as usual), and Susan Sarandon.

Reason for not 100: little too long.

Shutter Island

Dicaprio and Scorsese, what could go wrong? Turns out, this movie.

Words that come to mind: Long, weird, predictable. I figured it out in about 20 minutes, and my bet is you will, too.

Shame, because I really thought this would be good. The best part of this movie, was the trailer to 'Iron Man 2". That looks awesome.

Behind Enemy Lines: Colombia

I was surprised how good this movie was. If you like action, and "Call of Duty" games, then this is for you. It's non-stop action from beginning to end.

The best of the 3.

Battle Royale

The only reason I watched this movie was because Tarantino said it was his favorite.

It's good, but not great. Very similar to a better movie, "Series 7".

The Insider
The Insider(1999)

Long-winded. But, Crowe and Pacino are in top form.

The Collector

It tries so hard to be 'Hostel'. It, very badly wants to be in the same sentence as 'Saw'. I very desperately want my money back.

There is not a single actor in this nightmare. I don't even think the director knew what to do with this mess.

Beverly Hills Cop II

Trying to live off the magic of the first. Recycled jokes, overacting, and unbelievable situations make this sequel for the garbage. To think, there's also a part 3!

The Lovely Bones

If I had to sum it up in word; forgettable. Very similar to "What Dreams May Come", "The Cell".

You remember buying albums for one song, and the rest of the songs sucked (fillers)? There's a lot of that going on, here. The story is not new. The movie fails to make you really care.

One last thing: "Hey dog, how's it goin'. Say hello to your mother for me."

Up in the Air

Lame. You've seen the story, more than once. I can't understand the hype.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture

To it's credit, it's old. But, there is no story. After seeing the new one, I thought I'd check out the originals. I hope the the others aren't as boring as this one.

H2: Halloween II

This is a mess of a movie. Zombie never takes time to develop the characters. It's just a guy in a mask killing and chasing people, for no apparent reason.

The only good thing in the movie is the 'Knights In White Satin' theme.

I did like Zombie's other 2 movies 'House Of A 1000 Corpses', and 'Devil's Rejects', but the Halloween series does not work.

The Manchurian Candidate

If you don't know the story, already then you will have a hard time following. It has many twists and is a little long.
Denzel and Streap are the definite stand-outs. They do a great job, as usual. I would have like to see more of what was supposed to have happened in Iraq, played out on screen.

Full Metal Jacket

Classic Kubrick, almost 2 movies in one. You get the boot camp side and the war side all rolled up in one. I think the boot camp side is more interesting because of the outstanding performance by R. Lee Ermey as the drill instructor.

Is it the best war movie. I would say no. That would go to 'Platoon.' I also think 'Hurt Locker', and 'Black Hawk Down' are better. But, definitely worth a rent.

The blu-ray version is no better than regular DVD.

Facing Ali
Facing Ali(2009)

'Facing Ali' is not really about Ali. It's more about the other boxers and their stories. Stories which I found a bit boring.

I really got the feeling I was back in school watching a movie on one of those projector 'thingys'.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

With a crazy budget of 100's of millions of dollars, this is the storyline they came up with? Overall it's just another sequel. Fox is pretty hot. The CGI is average at best.

Cliche' after cliche'. If you want to see a good movie about becoming an officer in the Navy, then see "An Officer and A Gentleman." If it's becoming a boxer you want to see, then check out "Rocky." If you want to see a good movie, leave this on the rental shelf.

25th Hour
25th Hour(2003)

This will be an easy review because I can explain why it sucked. First, I'd like to say that I love Ed Norton. But, the reason this movie sucks is SPIKE LEE.

You've Got Mail

I don't like chick-flicks (or at least admit it), but I did enjoy this one. Tom Hanks is such a good actor, and Meg Ryan is really cute, in this film.

Rambo III
Rambo III(1988)

An unnecessary sequel that is really bad. I mean REALLY bad.

There's really nothing scary, or thrilling. But, it does hold your attention. I feel I've seen the story before, but I don't remember what. It may have been 'The Good Son' with Macaulay Culkin. It's a bit long at 2 hrs and the ending is disappointing.

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

'National Lampoon' title might as well say, 'This movie sucks!' But, that is not the case here. This is, easily the funniest Christmas movie you'll ever see. I agree with another critic, "If you don't like this, you suck."

2 Turntables And A Microphone: The Life And Death Of Jam Master Jay

I grew up on Run-DMC. I love Run-DMC. I have respect for them and Jam Master Jay.

I have 2 turntables and try to do what Jay did. But, this documentary is not good. It just basically kisses ass for 90 minutes from interviews from people you've never heard of.

District 9
District 9(2009)

Very annoying news reporter kicks off the movie, with a fake feeling news story. The story is about aliens who aren't able to leave. I won't ruin the rest of the story but I didn't find it all that interesting. Some cute moments with the aliens, but nothing spectacular.

Beyond a Reasonable Doubt

I don't know what Michael Douglas is doing in this movie. The rest of the cast couldn't qualify to be on 'Sesame Street'. This is a really bad movie. One for the bargain bin.

Marley & Me
Marley & Me(2008)

It does have a few laughs. Some of the jokes, and story line you can see coming a mile away. I think that's due to Owen Wilson's terrible acting. The more movies I watch, the more I appreciate good actors like Nicholson, Denzel, Leonardo. I think some of these other 'big name' actors are just there to collect a check. (I've made up my mind, too that Jennifer Aniston is hot.)

While not perfect by any means, it is worth the rent.

We Were Soldiers

I do not like Mel Gibson. I think he's as overrated as an actor can be. Chris Klein in the cast doesn't help anything, either.

You can throw out the first hour of this movie because it's the same ole' story of pregnant wife, blah, blah, blah. As for the rest of the hour and a half, you can take it or leave it.

Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire

I heard the buzz and checked it out. As I look to my right, at the 'Latest User Reviews' I see nothing but 90-100%s. I guess I don't get it. This movie is boring, and depressing. Not even really depressing because I don't think I cared. At times I couldn't understand what Precious was even saying because she mumbles.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

The acting is horrific. The story is 'Ambien'. The cars suck and I can't believe I watched this shit!

Terminator Salvation

It is entertaining, but the story is way out there and the acting is horrific. Plus, after you hear how Christian Bale yells at people on the set (Ooooh good for you), it sort of makes him a douche-bag for life.

Shorts: The Adventures of the Wishing Rock

I tried watching this movie with my kids, but none of us liked it. It's (for a lack of a better word) stupid.

Funny People
Funny People(2009)

"Funny People" is not a funny movie.

Diane Lane is so hot, I didn't notice Richard Gere. The movie is pretty good. You've seen the story, before.

Driven to Kill

Every Steven Seagal movie is the same. Somebody betrays or double-crosses him and he seeks revenge. I have to say I can't stand Steven Seagal.

Mary and Max
Mary and Max(2009)

My 6-year-old became bored, but I didn't. I loved it. Original, and very well written.

The Tournament

'Series 7' with a bigger budget.

It's a take it or leave flick. At first, it's fun with interesting characters like Ving Rhames. However, the longer it goes the less you care.

Series 7: The Contenders

Original. It's dark, but it's fun.

Saw VI
Saw VI(2009)

While it's not great, it is better than part 5. The problem is that the story has gotten old. Old to the point you don't care about it.

The Goonies
The Goonies(1985)

A great adventure that never gets old. It is entertaining from beginning to end.

One word review: Adorable.

Paranormal Activity

People seem desperate to label 'the greatest of all time'. Whether it's a rapper or an athlete. In this case, it is in the horror genre. That being said, this is not the greatest horror movie of all time.

If you've seen, and I'm sure you have 'The Blair Witch Project' then you already know the premise. Shoot the movie in a sort of 'first-person' angle to give the audience the idea that what is happening is real. But, really it's nothing more than 'Paranormal State' on A&E, except a little longer.

Live Free or Die Hard

Great action, maybe over the top.

Saw IV
Saw IV(2007)

It could be much better.

Saw III(2006)

Best of the bunch. I can't understand the negativity.

I love the 'Saw' series. Sure there are flaws, but the good out weighs the bad.

Jeepers Creepers 2

Too much of a not-so-good thing. The writing in this one sucked. It was probably just rushed, which is a shame because it had the potential to be so much better.

Jeepers Creepers

Its OK, but I wouldn't buy it.

It's better than most horror movies, which by 'horror' standards doesn't have to be much. "Jeepers Creepers, where'd you get those peepers?"

The Perfect Storm

It should be good, but it's not. It's very cliche'. The extreme overacting reminds me of 'Twister'.

I'd much rather watch a couple episodes of 'Deadliest Catch'.

Home Alone 2: Lost in New York

If you don't take it so seriously, and maybe watch it with your kids. There are a few laughs.

The Brothers Bloom

Christopher Kelly (Dallas movie critic) says it best, "Watching this movie is like being elbowed in the ribs for two consecutive hours."

It tries too hard to be clever, but has no substance.

Food, Inc.
Food, Inc.(2009)

I really enjoy documentaries. It's kind of like a long 'Dateline'. The best documentary I've seen is "Loose Change". That one had me talking, even to today and debating with people. Usually, they don't want to hear it.

This one is done well, and kept my interest. A couple of times I can remember thinking to myself, "that's life". Then when it talks about the way workers are treated in Tar Heel, North Carolina it gets me thinking about how corrupt our society has become. It's definitely worth a look, and I welcome comments if you've seen it.

Trick 'r Treat

This could have easily been called "Creepshow 3". I don't think it's as good as everybody says it is. But, it's not bad.

Eyes Wide Shut

Like most Kubrick movies, you either get it or you don't.

American History X

Not a perfect movie but Norton is the perfect choice, and should have won the Academy Award. The movie is very honest. It will offend you, if you let it. My only problem with the movie was that it was predictable.

Dolores Claiborne

Along the lines of 'Misery'. The movie is quite memorable. What you'd expect from a Steven King movie. The story develops slowly, but is very well done by Kathy Bates. A little overacting by Jennifer Jason Leigh (the girl from Fast Times at Ridgemont High).

The scenery is incredible including the eclipse.

Drugstore Cowboy

You never know what's going to happen next, as Matt Dillon and Van Sant take you on a ride though the eyes of a couple of drug addicted Cowboys!

Dance Flick
Dance Flick(2009)

Less than garbage! My first 0% rated movie.

12 Angry Men (Twelve Angry Men)

It's old, yes. But the substance is still relevant today. The dialogue is masterful, on the level of 'Glengarry Glen Ross'. The acting is a little overdone, I think that comes with the 1957 stamp. I like the ending, too. The 'how-do-you-do' between two jury members, and the respect given to the one initial hold-out.

The morale of the story, don't be so quick to judge someone.

Mission: Impossible 2

No where near as good as the first. Leave the love story at home. But I agree with "the ego has landed.." Most of the action is over the top, and this isn't Stallone.

Mission: Impossible

Complicated, but well done. Every time I watch it, I catch something new.

The Informant!

A VERY bizarre movie.

The story is not that interesting. The only humorous thing, was that Damon's character (Mark Whitacre) is ignorant. I did like the 'thinking out loud' commentary. But, I would not see it again.

Road House
Road House(1989)

Thank Patrick Swayze.

There are movies that are so corny they're good. This is one of the corniest you'll ever see. But, it's entertaining and I watch it every time it's on T.V.

Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked)

Remember 'Twister' where Phillip Seymour Hoffman was a bit too happy. (overacted, if you will). There's a lot of that in this borefest.

The first joke is that they're going to say the 'F' word on the radio. Then, the manager comes in to stop it and what do you know, the mic was left on by accident when he did say the 'F' word. Ha! Ha! Ha!....not really.

Lame jokes after lame jokes. Check out 'Private Parts', instead.

Disneynature Earth

Somebody got a High-Definition camera, and tried to make a cute movie. Too bad it's not very good. Skip this one and watch '"March Of The Penguins" again, instead.

Zzzzzz.....Terrible acting, terrible story, terrible 'good cop vs. bad cop'. The movie is awful. It only needed David Curoso to make it worse.

If you're looking for action, then don't this is probably not your cup of tea, so to speak. But, if you're open-minded and like a 'love story' then this is for you. A very good movie that tells a really good story.

Like Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Toby Jones does a fine job in his Capote role.

If you're looking for a great 'date movie', this is the one. A very pleasant 'chick flick' with a heart warming story of the 'ho-hum' life of a waitress. I won't go into detail, because I don't want to spoil anything. I'd compare this movie to 'Fried Green Tomatoes'.

Andy Griffith is great as an old, bitter man with a hidden huge heart. You can't help but love Keri Russell.

Inglourious Basterds

I know many people disagree with me on this one.

'Pulp Fiction' is my favorite movie of all time. I loved 'Jackie Brown', and liked 'From Dusk Till Dawn'. Therefore, I really like Quentin Tarantino. But, this movie bored me to tears. Too much meaningless dialogue. I did like the way it ended, though. That was a total surprise. But, I don't understand why everybody thinks this is a great movie. I respectfully, disagree.

Interview with the Vampire

"Interview With The Vampire" is a really fun movie. One thing I noticed during the movie, is that Tom Cruise is not just a good actor, but a great one. He carries the movie and you miss him when he's not on screen.

I'm not a big 'Vampire' kind of guy. I liked 'From Dusk Til Dawn' and this one is comparable. It's a bit long at over 2HRS. I really noticed it was getting long once Antonio showed up.

Drag Me to Hell

Seems that all the critics loved this movie. I thought it was just O.k. The special effects are pretty good, but I've seen better horror movies than this one.

The Good Shepherd

With a cast like this one has, you'd think there would be plenty of substance. Unfortunately, it has very little. It spends too much time developing the Damon character and too little time explaining what's going on.

Angelina is as hot as ever, but the film just doesn't hold my interest.

Beverly Hills Cop

Very funny then, and quite funny now. Makes me miss Eddie Murphy. Granted the story has flaws and to think Stallone was going to be Axel!

State of Play

I missed the bus on this one, I guess. I did not like it. Tried too hard to be clever.

The Killing Room

Good idea, but poorly written and poorly directed. I just didn't care about any of the characters, or the story.

I'm dizzy from watching this movie. The movie bounced around a lot (which I like). The first part, you get to know Julia and how miserable her life is. After that, the movie resets at a blistering pace. I won't spoil the rest, but I didn't really like the ending. I tend to notice when a film spends 2 hrs developing story and characters, then wraps up the ending in a few minutes.

My only complaint was the ending seemed rushed. Guys: she's fully naked (Mr. Skin) in one of the scenes.

Observe and Report

Take it, or leave it. A few laughs here and there. I do like Seth Rogen. I heard him on the Howard Stern show and he is really cool. But, the movie is just O.K.

The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

I won't give this movie much time because it sucks. Matthew McConaughey is one of the worst actors of all time. Remember the 'Family Guy' episode where Stewie tells him how much he sucks? He does.

King of California

I felt the movie was trying way too hard to be clever. But, it doesn't work. In fact, it's bad. Douglas usually gets a pass from me, but not this time. I can't understand why he would even accept this role. But hey, I was married once, too.

A Perfect Murder

Michael Douglas is the only reason this movie works. Paltrow sleeps through her role, and Viggo Mortensen (whoever that is)is just annoying as the lover that Douglas hires to kill his wife.

Training Day
Training Day(2001)

Denzel is in top form, and Eva Mendes is naked. My kind of movie.

Inside Man
Inside Man(2006)

Denzel's my favorite. I can't stand Spike Lee. This movie is not good.

I Love You, Man

A much better than 'average' comedy. The chemistry between the two characters worked well. How can you go wrong with 'Rush' and a mention of Neil Peart!

A fantastic, creative and wonderfully crafted movie. I enjoyed it from beginning to end. My kids, ages 10 and 6 couldn't take their eyes off of it.

The adventure is comparative to 'The Wizard of Oz'. There are dark moments, and I'm not sure everybody would get the 'moral of the story'. The graphics are stunning.

The Betrayed
The Betrayed(2008)

Wife kidnapped for ransom. The movie is shot in one room in a warehouse. Very low budget.

An American Affair

An INCREDIBLY dull movie. The only reason I gave the movie a chance was because Gretchen Mol is in it. But, past her beauty, this is bargain bin material.

The Hangover
The Hangover(2009)

I can't believe how many people found this movie funny. Way over-rated!! I would best describe it as watching "American Pie" for the 50th time.

A few laughs here and there. But, not really my cup of tea.

Swimming Pool

I literally fell asleep 3 times during this bore fest.

I would describe this movie as a 'Juno' meets 'Superbad'. I know there are many clones of those movies. Most of the clones suck, too. Not this one. This one delivers. The great soundtrack takes me back to my high-school years.

Red Dragon
Red Dragon(2002)

The stars come out in this Hannibal film. However, I don't like the role of Ed Norton. Ed Norton is a terrific actor, but seemed out of place when his character started talking to himself and seeming confused all the time.

17 Again
17 Again(2009)

PAINFULLY bad! A script we've seen over and over, again.

Seven (Se7en)

Films don't come much better than this one.

I read the negative reviews from the critics, and I really can't argue with some of the points they make. The movie does sometimes bore the shit out of you. So much, in fact that I almost turned it off. Ewan McGregor sleep walks through his role, but since Naomi Watts was in it, I held in there.

The cinematography is first-rate. Director Marc Forster, who also did 'Stranger Than Fiction', and 'The Kite Runner' really does capture the eye.

All that said, I have to say, "See it", but with some reservation. You can throw out the first 10 minutes and go from there.

Reminded me of 'Requiem For A Dream', but not near as good.

The Painted Veil

The acting is superb, which you would expect from Norton and Watts. The story is good, but predictable and a bit long.

Angels & Demons

Dreadful. You see, Tom Hanks can make a bad movie.

Imagine a bad M. Night Shyamalan movie (That shouldn't be hard to do), with horrific acting and a forgettable story. The only good scene is the plane crash. But, it's not worth a rent. SKIP IT.

Why a 6/10? It's one of those movies that isn't bad. But, it isn't good either. It's just there. The rape and attempted murder scene (in the car) was disturbing.

As an afterthought, whoever was the makeup artist should have won an Oscar. I can't believe that's MY Charlize Theron!!

The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3

What's good about it: it has Denzel Washington. What's bad: It sucks.

The Hurt Locker

I couldn't take my eyes off of this film. I think it does for the Iraq war, what 'Platoon' did for the Vietnam war as far as movies go. It's not quite as good as 'Black Hawk Down', but a very good picture.
The movie flew under the radar for a long time. Good to see word-of-mouth and DVD release coming together.
Thank You, to the men and women who serve our country.

The Perfect Sleep

Perfect name for this UN-perfect flick.

John Q
John Q(2002)

The only reason I gave it a '4' is because Denzel Washington is in it.

Now, the movie is not good. If I can quote virusts, one of my friends on here, he said it perfectly. He said, "Denzel Washington is much to good to be in a film like this."

Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian

Not terrible, but way over the top and overdone.

King Kong
King Kong(2005)

Naomi Watts is one of the hottest actresses on screen. I love Jack Black, especially on 'Tropic Thunder'. But, I got a little bored with this movie.

Rise of the Scarecrows

This may have been filmed from a Blackberry. T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E

Fired Up
Fired Up(2009)

Terrible, stupid, and a waste of time!

The Ring Two
The Ring Two(2005)

This is a terrible sequel. There is no story, there isn't a scary part and the little boy is annoying as hell. BTW, every time you hear the word "Rachel", take a drink. You'll be hammered in about 30 minutes.

Attack of the Puppet People

If you're having trouble sleeping, throw this movie in the DVD player and you'll sleep like a baby.

[img][/img] Take the movie Seven. Now subtract Morgan Freeman, and Brad Pitt. Now, subtract a good story line and add a bunch of bullshit. That all equals to Horsemen.

[img][/img] This flick does 2 things very well. 1.) Does Nothing and 2.) Sucks.

I don't know how Danny Glover ever got a job, because his acting sucks and his dentures get in the way of every line. I'm beginning to believe that Mark Wahlberg only had 1 good movie and that was Boogie Nights.

The only reason I watched this movie was that I did a google search on "movies similar to Bourne", this is what I got?

Dance of the Dead

[img][/img] This movie is 100% Grade A CRAP.

Taking Chance

[img][/img] Solid movie, solid performance.

Lars and the Real Girl

[img][/img] I get what the movie is truly about, and what it's going for. But, I honestly didn't like it. To the film's credit, it's definitely original.

My Bloody Valentine 3-D

[img][/img] Not good. Just the same slasher-type bullsh*t.

Chris Tucker's best. Classic with tons of laughs!

Team America: World Police

I don't know if I've ever laughed as hard.

Dawn of the Dead

When it first started, I thought 'Wow', this is going to be a great movie. It was for the first 30 minutes, with the special effects. But, as most horror movies do, it ran out of story.

No Man's Land

[img][/img] This is one of those movies that a person either loves, or hates it. It's kinda corny and has that '80s' feel to it. But, I'm one of those who loved it.

[img][/img] After wasting 15 minutes of my life, I quickly hit the 'eject' button.

Crossing Over

BIG[img][/img] Get your pillows fluffed for this snooze fest.Man, what a bad and boring (and I mean BORING) movie. If the movie stars Ashley Judd, and it's not the movie Heat, it's going to suck.

What has Ray Liota done to his face? Another Hollywood pullback?

What Doesn't Kill You

[img][/img] There's nothing 'fresh' about this movie. Ethan Hawke is not a great actor or even a good actor. Donnie Wahlberg is in the same typecast role of his, as a detective.

I'd rather watch an old Sopranos episode.

Sex Addict
Sex Addict(2008)

[img][/img] This is a true freak show!

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang

[img][/img] My kind of movie. It's like a 'Tarantino' flick with a little bit of Robert Downey Jr. Very cool.

Harry: You know what? You'd better be her doctor.
[Agent Type looks up, busted]
Harry: Walk away, don't think, just do it.
Agent Type: What are you, her brother or something? It's none of your business, man. I will fuck you up.
Harry: [ coolly] No. You'll try, and that little experiment will end in tears, my friend. So, again for the cheap seats, do not think, walk the *fuck* away - or let's you and me go outside right now. It's past my bedtime. Make a choice.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona

[img][/img] I'm in the minority, but I just didn't get it. I was bored to tears with this chick-flick.

Fast & Furious

[img][/img] Terrible acting, horrible script...It is what it is!

Weird Science

[img][/img] I saw this, again for the first time in years. It's funny how the computer they use is such a piece of shit, compared to today. The movie is still 'awesome', and it's cool to see Bill Paxton, and Robert Downey Jr. on the under card.

Chet: [to Wyatt] Boy, I wouldn't give a squirt of piss for your ass right now.

[img][/img] I've seen some gory films, but this one takes the cake.

Perkins' 14
Perkins' 14(2009)

[img][/img] These HorrorFest movies continue to get worse, and worse. But, I guess the jokes on me because I continue to watch them. This one is really bad. The actors are generic, and shouldn't even be in a commercial, much less a movie.

Monty Python's Life of Brian

[img][/img] I'm not a big Monty Python fan but this is a funny movie. A bit outdated, but it WAS 1979.

Brian: Have I got a big nose, Mum?
Brian?s mother: Stop thinking about sex!
Brian: I wasn't!
Brian?s mother: You're always on about it. "Will the girls like this? Will the girls like that? Is it too big? Is it too small? "

Babysitter Wanted

[img][/img] I had a feeling that it would suck, and I was right.

Nothing But the Truth

[img][/img] Great cast, first of all. Great story, and superb acting by all.
Good to see Alan Alda. Dillon is great, as usual.

The Uninvited

[img][/img] This movie should have worked. It all the right ingredients, but the wrong recipe and amateur actors. You get the feeling that the girls are always in their underwear, on purpose.

[img][/img] The entire studio budget had to have gone to Rourke and Lane, because the movie is unwatchable. It really has the look and feel of a bad VHS 80s movie.

Wolf Creek
Wolf Creek(2005)

[img][/img]. You can just dump the first 40 minutes of the film. It kept my interest, because of the good performances, and I kept hoping to get a look at Kesti Morasi's rack, which never developed. (I could have sworn that was Minnie Driver). There was enough story to keep my interest.

The Broken
The Broken(2008)

[img][/img] Be sure to miss this one. I'm starting to believe that all the After Dark movies suck.

Five Minutes of Heaven

[img][/img] I can't imagine a more BORING movie.

[img][/img] Crap, and more crap.

The Devil's Backbone (El Espinazo del diablo)

[img][/img] It's and O.K. movie that keeps your attention. It's not a movie that I have to have in my collection, though.

Laid to Rest
Laid to Rest(2009)

[img][/img] One of the worst movies, I've ever seen. It's terrible in every way.

Final Destination

[img][/img] Terrible. Watch part 3, the only good one of the series.

Final Destination 2

[img][/img] I saw part 3, first and decided to watch part 2. It sucked.

The Children
The Children(2008)

[img][/img] A solid, full of twists thriller movie. It will have you screaming, "WTF".

Final Destination 3

[img][/img] I, surprisingly enjoyed it.Chelan Simmons is fine as hell!!

[img][/img] Entertaining, especially for a movie I'd never heard of. Reminded me of a Drive-In type movie.

Quantum of Solace

[img][/img] Of all the Bond movies, this is, easily the worst.

In Bruges
In Bruges(2008)

[img][/img] Similar to Boondock Saints, but not as good. Worth a look, though.

Let the Right One In

[img][/img] If you can get through this bore fest, then you're a better person than I.

Yes Man
Yes Man(2008)

[img][/img] DREADFUL !!!

[img][/img] Sucks. Stop with the 'Blair Witch' cinematography, already.

Léon: The Professional

[img][/img] Not good. In fact, really bad.

Inside (À l'intérieur)

[img][/img] Skip it.

Last Days
Last Days(2005)

Nirvana is one of my favorite groups (or was). This movie is complete BULLSHIT! I don't even know how I hung in and watched the whole thing. Instead, watch Kurt Cobain: About A Son. Last Days in disrespectful and garbage!!

I really haven't had that exciting of a life. There are a lot of things I wish I would have done, instead of just sitting around and complaining about having a boring life. So I pretty much like to make it up. I'd rather tell a story about somebody else.

Stone Cold
Stone Cold(1991)

[img][/img] OK, I know it's really, really corny. But, I like it. It's like Roadhouse, every time it's on, I have to watch.

The Woodsman
The Woodsman(2004)

[img][/img] I couldn't believe how many critics liked this movie. Kevin Bacon is a good actor. But, I felt the picture was trying to get to sympathize with a pedophile, and I can't do that.

The Prestige
The Prestige(2006)

[img][/img] A tad long, but very good. Often, reviews are spoilers so I'll just say that it keeps your attention to the very end. I forgot how hot Johansson is.

Sex Drive
Sex Drive(2008)

[img][/img] Very funny. I watched the unrated version, which was about 30 minutes too long. I found Seth Green and his Amish scenes very annoying. I would compare the movie to American Pie and Road Trip.

One Hour Photo

[img][/img] A 'somewhat' underrated flick w/ Robin Williams as 'the bad guy.' (Say goodnight to the BAD GUY). Had to throw that in. Anyway, the only real problem was that the ending seemed a bit rushed.

Stand by Me
Stand by Me(1986)

[img][/img] GREAT

Gordie: Shut up!
Vern, Chris, Teddy: I don't shut up, I grow up, and when I look at you, I throw up.
Gordie: And then your mother goes around the corner and she licks it up.

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist

[img][/img] It's not really fair, that I review this movie. For starters, I hate love stories, and predictable movies. But, since I am reviewing I'll just say that it's BORING.

[img][/img] Maybe, the movie was too hyped, by the time I watched it. It tries to do, what Brokeback Mountain has already done. Sean Penn is one of my favorite actors. and Emile Hirsch was great in Into The Wild. Honestly, I bailed after 40 minutes.

[img][/img] It seemed, to me that I was back in High School in a history class. The movie is really boring.

Footnote: I did like the cinematography and the fact they didn't use subtitles.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

[img][/img] I am a fan of the series, but this one is really bad. I didn't really care about the story, and it looked really fake.

Role Models
Role Models(2008)

[img][/img] I, too am awaiting the 'return' of Stiffler, but this is not it. The movie is dumb and way too long.

Vacancy 2: The First Cut

[img][/img] Another take it or leave horror movie. It started out good, but I became bored with it halfway through.

Storm Warning

[img][/img] As bad as horror films have been, lately. This is a breath of fresh air. Sure, you've seen most of what happens, but it works. Plus, with a run time of only 80 minutes, it's right on schedule.

Amazing Race - The Complete First Season

[img][/img] Thank God that a good show has come back on TV. I love Amazing Race and Survivor. Check it out.

Family Guy - Volume 1: Seasons 1 & 2

[img][/img] The best animated show to come around, ever. I'm a Beavis and Butthead guy, however Family Guy is so well written. Has to be the funniest show on TV.

Benny's Video

[img][/img] Low budget..and I mean looooow budget garbage.

American Teen

Just reminds you how silly high school clicks were and are. The movie is just O.K.

The Oxford Murders

[img][/img] Wake me up when it's over!

Notes on a Scandal

[img][/img] This was a date movie, but I admit that I liked it, more than I thought I would. It's worth a 'red box' rental.

You're barking, fucking mad. You don't know how to love. You have never, your whole life. Me, Jennifer Dodd. You're nothing but waste and disappointment! You bitter old virgin. You're lonely for a reason. They loathed you at school, all of them. I was the idiot who bothered, but only because no one told me you're a fucking vampire! So what is it, Bar? You want to roll around the floor like lovers? You want to fuck me, Barbara?

Away From Her

[img][/img] It's slow-paced but worth it! An excellent look at true love.

I'm thinking that sometimes you just have to make the decision to be happy. Just decide. Things aren't ever what you hoped they'd be. Not ever, for anybody. The only thing that separates one kind of person from another is there are some who stay angry about it and there are some who... accept what comes their way.

The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters

[img][/img] "KILL SCREEN COMING UP" When you watch it, you'll know what that means. A really entertaining documentary. Nothing fancy, don't miss it.

?I wanted to be a hero, I wanted to be the center of attention, I wanted the glory, I wanted the fame, I wanted the pretty girls coming up to me and saying: ?Hi, I see that you?re good at Centipede*.??

Gone Baby Gone

[img][/img] I like it, but it didn't grip me like it seemed to have everybody else. I read all the reviews and you'd think this movie was great, but it's not.

Rescue Dawn
Rescue Dawn(2007)

[img][/img] A little long, but worth a look.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead

[img][/img] Not a big fan of Ethan Hawke, but Hoffman really holds the movie together. Great script.

[img][/img] I hated it.

Funny Games
Funny Games(2008)

[img][/img] Thank you, Michael Haneke (Director, Writer). Finally, a movie that's not predictable. I won't spoil the movie by commenting any further. Check it out for yourself. (sidenote: I will be checking out more from this director.)

Paul Blart: Mall Cop

[img][/img] VERY dumb!! Has the feel of a home movie.

Walking Tall: Lone Justice

[img][/img] I didn't expect much, and that's what I got. Imagine an even worse 'Steven Segal' movie than a Steven Segal movie. That's what "Walking Tall" is.

Revolutionary Road

[img][/img] Watching this film, I thought to myself, what a great actor Leonardo DiCaprio is. The movie without Winslet and DiCaprio, safe to say would have been mediocre at best. But the performances from these two is nothing short of spectacular.

Ocean's Eleven

[img][/img] Took a long time to get started! I could take about 40 minutes of the movie to 'Deleted scenes'. For the cast it has, it was disappointing.

[img][/img] Shallow story that becomes boring. Great cinematography, but that's it.

The Escapist
The Escapist(2008)

[img][/img] I couldn't get past the first 20 minutes of this flick.

[img][/img] Strap on your seat belt for this one. Brilliant performances. Full of twists from beginning to end.

Well look who got beaten with the ugly stick. Bob, is that you? My God, I can't believe such an itty bitty gun could make such a big mess out of someone! You are so ugly Bob! Oh and hey I heard you have one of those poop bags where the shit comes out the side, you're just a big old shitbag aren't you Bob! I hope you think of me every time you shit in that thing motherfucker!

Get Smart
Get Smart(2008)

[img][/img] I can't believe some people thought this was funny. I don't think I laughed once.

[img][/img] In all fairness to Oliver Stone, I don't think I really cared about this movie. I'm so sick of George Bush, and am glad he's gone, that I found myself not wanting to be reminded.

Pride and Glory

[img][/img] How many times have we seen this story. The real disappointment is that Ed Norton accepted this role. The rest of the actors sleepwalk through a 'shit' script.

Kiss The Girls

[img][/img] LAME! What was Morgan Freeman thinking?

[img][/img] Take it or leave it.

City of Ember

[img][/img] In a word, unwatchable.

Freaky Friday

[img][/img] A Very cute, fun movie for the family, We all enjoyed.

Saw V
Saw V(2008)

OK, this one makes me not want to defend it, anymore. But, I'll be in theater to see part 6.

Rambo (Rambo IV)

I had to re-review. I remember giving this a bad review. But, after I watched it a second time I would disagree with myself (if that makes sense).

What it lacks in plot, it makes up in pure action. I love guts and gore and this has plenty.

Much better than Rambo 2 and 3.

The Happening

[img][/img] Well, I've written off two persons in Hollywood. Mark Wahlberg and M. Knight Shyamalan. I'd rather hear Mark do some 'Funky Bunch'.

I'll be sure not to see another movie either one of these jagoffs are in or writes or directs.

21 Grams
21 Grams(2003)

[img][/img] Another Sean Penn good movie. Not great, but good.

[img][/img] In my opinion, the best war movie made.

Sgt. Elias: What happened today was just the beginning. We're gonna lose this war.
Chris Taylor: Come on! You really think so? Us?
Sgt. Elias: We've been kicking other peoples asses for so long I figured it's time we got ours kicked

Urban Cowboy
Urban Cowboy(1980)

[img][/img] Since we're on a Debra Winger kick I thought I'd review a classic. With due respect to John Travolta. The movie is fabulous, reminds me of growing up. The actors are wonderful. With a Mickey Gilley soundtrack, how can you go wrong? Love it, Loved it

Pam: You did it for her; didn't you?
Bud: What?
Pam: Practicing, winning, all that, didn't you?
Bud: What are you talkin' about?
Pam: Because you sure didn't do it for me.
Bud: Pam, this ain't no time to start this with me, what are you talking about?

An Officer and a Gentleman

Perhaps, one of the greatest movies of all time. The end still gives me goosebumps.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

[img][/img] Man, I must have missed something here, after all the hype. This was as dull as having nothing but corn for dinner. Seemed as though all actors knew the movie was going to suck, and showed it.

"I was with a girl once. Wasn't a squaw, but she was purty. She had yellow hair, like uh... oh, like something.
Dick Liddil: Like hair bobbed from a ray of sunlight?
Ed Miller: Yeah, yeah. Like that. Boy, you talk good. "

The American President

[img][/img] For me, it's a take it, or leave it movie. Which is a shame, because I love both actors. Overacted, predictable, and quite frankly lame.

You Kill Me
You Kill Me(2007)

[img][/img] Horrible. Imagine 'Analyze This' and now make it it 10-times worse. You now have "You Kill Me."

[img][/img] Starting to think that Sutherland should stick with "24". It's been a long time since 'The Lost Boys'.

From the twisted imagination of M. Night, a comic book come to life.
I enjoy it because it's different and I like Bruce Willis. Most of the story is a bit boring. There's a part where Willis asks his wife if he's ever been sick. What, you don't remember that, or are you trying to tell the audience you've never been sick. I hate slow softballs like that.
Still, it's worth a rent.

Frozen River
Frozen River(2008)

[img][/img] This is a low 7 rating. The movie is slow, but worth a look.

Blue Velvet
Blue Velvet(1986)

[img][/img] "She wore Bluuuuue Velvet". A wild ride of a movie. Very different, and unpredictable. Brilliant performances. Maybe a little dated.

Frank Booth: What kind of beer do you like to drink, neighbor?
Jeffrey Beaumont: Heineken.
Frank Booth: Heineken? Fuck that shit! Pabst Blue Ribbon!

Matchstick Men

Clever and very enjoyable.

After Hours
After Hours(1985)

[img][/img] Directed by Scorsese, but has the feel of Kubrick. Loved the ending.

Diamante Blanco

[img][/img] Pointless and boring documentary.

[img][/img] NO WAY

The Kite Runner

[img][/img] I'm not big on foreign films, but this is an excellent movie. Very touching.

"After spending years in California, Amir returns to his homeland in Afghanistan to help his old friend Hassan, whose son is in trouble." From IMDB.

[img][/img] About a man who wants revenge on a group of teens that killed his beloved dog. Sounded good....., but it's not. Glad to see Tom Sizemore, but this is a straight to DVD movie. (Bargain Bin).

The Machinist

[img][/img] Somewhat like Memento, however unlike Memento this movie sucked.

Snow Angels
Snow Angels(2007)

[img][/img] It's an OK movie, not great.
Beckinsale and Rockwell hold the film together.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

[img][/img] The idea for the movie seemed fresh, But it's a long, long almost 3hrs that I feel I wasted. I never really felt interested in Ben, and the story became shallow.

[img][/img] NO

[img][/img] Jolie's performance is undeniable. The script is a little shallow, missing boy, corrupt police, etc. I felt I'd heard this story before. The longer I watched it, the more I liked it, however.

Body of Lies
Body of Lies(2008)

[img][/img] Body of LIes is really bad. The story is boring, the actors are boring, and you don't really care what they're doing..

The Last Seduction

[img][/img] This movie got 4 stars from Ebert, and a 90-something percent on Rotten Tomatoes, but I was bored to tears. The coffee house soundtrack, constantly playing was annoying.

Lakeview Terrace

[img][/img] It's nothing special. Samuel Jackson collects another check and the story is old.

Abel Turner: Listen to your wife, asshole!

From Dusk Till Dawn

[img][/img] When I first saw it, I thought Tarantino was slippin'. I was wrong.

Pulp Fiction
Pulp Fiction(1994)

[img][/img] I know it got great reviews. After watching it, I went back and read the reviews and I guess I don't get it. The movie is O.K. I would never want to sit through it again.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno

[img][/img] It was funny for a little while, but then just became annoying and stupid.

The Visitor
The Visitor(2008)

[img][/img] A movie you've probably never heard of, but a movie that you should. Richard Jenkins is superb. This movie will make your day a little better.

Gran Torino
Gran Torino(2009)

Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty good movie. What holds the movie is the charm (if you can call it that) of Clint Eastwood. I feel that if any other actor had played this roll, it wouldn't have been as good.

Eden Lake
Eden Lake(2008)

It's an O.K. movie. Perhaps a better 'date' movie. Most horror movies come with a great amount of 'cheesy-ness", this one, however does not. It's worth a look.

Pan's Labyrinth

[img][/img] I usually don't watch foreign films and I'm probably missing out on some quality movies. I did watch this and was very glad I did. Imagination runs wild and you're drawn into Guillermo del Toro's story.

Into the Wild

This was a gorgeous movie in every way. Emile was amazing. Shedding 60 pounds. Eddie Vedder has one of the best voices.
Thank you Sean Penn.
It has changed me forever.

He Was a Quiet Man

[img][/img] Just a bad movie. If you've seen "Office Space", it's sorta like Milton without a single laugh.

The Alphabet Killer

[img][/img] (Sigh) watching ice melt. Some of the worst acting you'll ever see.

The Wackness
The Wackness(2008)

[img][/img] I wasted 45 minutes, trying to get into this movie. I figured 45 was long enough, then I bailed!!

The Assassination of Richard Nixon

Penn, as always, is fantastic.

Samuel Bicke: Who are these men, maestro, who keep us waiting at their feet? The meek shall not inherit the earth. The earth belongs to the bullies who do not care how they get to the top, as long as they arrive.

I wanted to give Don Cheadle a pass on this movie, but I can't. It is painfully boring.

The Shawshank Redemption

Perhaps, the greatest film ever made. Nothing short of magnificent writing, acting, and that warm feeling it gives you, at the end. If there is such thing as a perfect movie, then this is it.

Freeman's commentary is wonderful.

Hostel Part II

I admit, I liked it. Very gory and unpredictable.

[img][/img] This movie couldn't be over fast enough! Loooooo-ong winded, and boring.

Letters from Iwo Jima

Good movie. I wouldn't justiy the 4 Academy Award nominations. I had some problem keeping up with the subtitles.

Disaster Movie

I gave it a shot, even after hearing how bad it was. IT IS that bad. Not a single laugh.

Basic Instinct 2

Easily, one of the worst movies ever.

Pay It Forward

Corny with a capital "CORN". Be sure to miss this one.

The House Bunny

One of the worst movies ever made. The best thing about this movie is this picture.

Just a fantastic movie. Everything is perfect. Perfect cast, perfect story, etc.

I've seen it many times. Loved it every time.

Burn After Reading

Boring.

Million Dollar Baby

A masterpiece. I cried the 3 times I watched it. Swank is superb, Eastwood is brilliant, and Morgan Freeman is fantastic.

One of the best scenes is where Swank and Eastwood are returning from seeing the house that Maggie (Swank) had bought for her mother. The shot is dark and depressing, exactly what it should be.

Man on Wire
Man on Wire(2008)

I know the critics loved this movie. Sorry, I didn't get it.

March of the Penguins

Magic. Truly captivating. Beautifully narrated by Morgan Freeman. I've seen it 3 times.

"They have wings but they cannot fly. They are birds that think they are fish. And every year they embark on a nearly impossible journey to find a mate."

The Nines
The Nines(2007)

This was a 'sleeper' movie, but really kept my attention.

Gary: Are you saying I'm God?
Margaret: Technically, no. If God is a ten, a theoretical ultimate, that-which-no-greater-can-be-imagined, you're more of a nine.
Gary: So what are you?
