Jay's Review of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
EVEN in IMAX, Transformers 2 is a dud due to the lack of intelligence, creativity and humour and just the same thing pounding your head for 2 and a half hours. Instead of trying to create slick, creative and visceral action scenes, director Michael Bay takes the easy way out and gives you more of the exact same thing in the first movie. The result, its fun for a bit, but soon nothing unexpected arrives, maybe a couple of exciting moments, and yes a yawn here and there. The acting doesn't deserve to be talked about longer than this sentence. Same with the crackhead plot. Bay could've saved time and money if he focused on the quality of the action and not how much action there was. If there was the same amount of action in the first movie, which i enjoyed a lot, and it was made more in your face, exciting, slick and visceral, I would have enjoyed myself. Another thing is the fact that in IMAX....THERE ARE ONLY TWO SCENES FILMED FOR IMAX! If the movie has scenes in IMAX make more than 2 for god sakes! The Dark Knight had what SIX?!?! The IMAX scenes were exciting, but thats about it. I know your going to see this movie, and theres nothing i can do to stop you, but if you do, see it in IMAX youll have more fun. Personally for me, neither IMAX nor regular theatre does it for me. Transformers 2 is not a fulfilling blockbuster movie or movie going experience it should have been, period. 2.5 for IMAX, 2 for regular theaters. Its the same thing over and over and over and over with nothing unexpected or intelligent in it. Thumbs down.
