Suburbia
Suburbia(1997)
½

This is a well-acted and well-written film, but if I ever encountered these characters in real life, I'd get as far away from them as possible.

Black Rock
Black Rock(2013)
½

The performances are strong, but "Black Rock" lacks character development and thrills.

Wish I Was Here

This is an insufferable, irritating, and cloying train-wreck of a movie.

Labor Day
Labor Day(2014)
½

While the movie isn't perfect - the narration by Toby Maguire isn't all that well done and seems unnecessary - the main actors all give strong performances and I found the story to be quite gripping and affecting. After hearing such negative reviews from critics, "Labor Day" turned out to be a pleasant surprise for me. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Her
Her(2013)
½

A very interesting movie that is sometimes uncomfortable to watch and rather bizarre, but I thought the premise was very compelling. The acting is excellent and the colorful and bright production design and there are also other little wonderful details. This probably isn't a film for all tastes, but I am very glad I got to see it. My rating: 3.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit
½

This movie is total crap. It's stupid, poorly written, and worst of all, boring. This is an action movie where the most exciting scene (a hotel fight scene that ends with a messy murder) happens in the first 20 minutes and is downhill from there. Worst of all is the dialogue. Check out a scene where Jack Ryan and some CIA agents are trying to track down some terrorists. One guy makes the suggestion to look for them on Facebook and Instagram. Who gave this idiot a job at the CIA? And the romance between Keira Knightley and Chris Pine is terrible, including a cringe-inducing scene towards the end where they share gooey dialogue that seems straight out of another movie, and a bad one at that. This is an often laughably bad, but that doesn't mean you should go see it. My rating: 1.5 stars out of 4 stars.

2 Guns
2 Guns(2013)
½

A well-crafted action-comedy with great chemistry between Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, some good laughs, and solid action. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Disconnect
Disconnect(2013)
½

This is a fantastic movie. It is so well-made and well-acted. I was very moved by the story-lines in this film. People should definitely check this movie out. My rating: 3.5 stars out of 4 stars.

We're The Millers
½

Even though this movie's been getting kind of a bad rap from critics, I still liked this movie. It's nothing Oscar-worthy, but there are a lot of big laughs and I liked the cast, too. I think audiences will be satisfied. My rating:3 stars out of 4 stars.

Elysium
Elysium(2013)
½

A good sci-fi/action flick with a strong lead performance by Matt Damon, some solid action, and cool special effects. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

White House Down

It's basically a PG-13 version of "Olympus Has Fallen". "Olympus Has Fallen" is much better in my opinion. "White House Down" isn't bad (I was mildly entertained), but in the end, it's only okay. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

World War Z
World War Z(2013)
½

A solid summer blockbuster flick with some terrific action sequences. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

The Purge
The Purge(2013)

It's got a cool premise, but when it comes down to it, "The Purge" doesn't have a whole lot going for itself. At least it's brisk at 85 minutes. My rating: 2 stars out of 4 stars.

Fast & Furious 6
½

This movie is too jokes (Not to mention totally boss)! My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Peeples
Peeples(2013)

Not great, but there are some good laughs. It entertained me enough, so I'll give it a mild recommendation. Plus, how can I resist Craig Robinson? What a delight he is. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation

An okay action movie with some very cool action sequences. However, there are some weird tonal issues going on - sometimes it seems like a big, serious, explosive action picture, but other times, it seems like a silly, almost campy action flick. It's not bad, but not nearly as good as some of the action movies I've seen in my life. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Olympus Has Fallen
½

An exciting, intense, albeit violent action picture with solid performances from its large cast (which includes Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, and Angela Basset). My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Oz the Great and Powerful
½

I honestly wasn't looking forward to this movie. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The production design and special effects are fantastic and the acting is solid. There is also plenty of good humor, which is almost always welcome in movies. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

The Call
The Call(2013)

A suspenseful, well-crafted thriller with solid performances from the cast. However, the movie ends on an unsatisfying note. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Dead Man Down
½

A solid thriller with some strong performances by the cast, which includes Colin Farrell, Terrence Howard, Noomi Rapace, and Dominic Cooper. And of course, there is some very good action throughout the picture (particularly the final sequence). My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Just Like Heaven

Nothing too special, but it's sweet and charming, mostly thanks to the two likable leads, Mark Ruffalo and Reese Witherspoon. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

A Good Day To Die Hard

Not nearly as good as the first film or even the fourth film, but "A Good Day To Die Hard" is still pretty darn entertaining. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Mallrats
Mallrats(1995)
½

Some laugh-out loud moments, but not nearly funny enough to garner a recommendation. My rating: 2 stars out of 4 stars.

Panic Room
Panic Room(2002)

A well-crafted, thrilling, and solidly acted thriller. My rating: 3.5 stars out of 4 stars.

She's Out of My League

"She's Out of My League" is a surprisingly charming movie with a fair number of laughs. The main character and (most of) the supporting characters are likable and entertaining, too. One problem with the movie is how almost every... single... guy who sees the female lead (Alice Eve) stares at her and acts like a complete buffoon. It's not a very funny joke, but the movie pounds it into the ground. Whatever, though. The movie is still entertaining and fun. My rating: A strong 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Identity Thief

This movie was okay. It is definitely not a great movie and it's not even a great comedy. However, there are some big laughs and I am a huge fan of Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy. Watching this movie is an okay way to spend a winter evening. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Bullet to the Head
½

"Bullet To the Head" is filled with scenes of bone-crunching, blood-spurting violence. However, the acting is flat, the characters aren't particularly interesting, the chemistry between the two male actors (Sylvester Stallone and Sung Kang) isn't very good, and the ending is totally anti-climactic. The trailer also suggested that this was going to be a campy, funny action picture. It would still be violent, but it would be humorous, too, sort of like "The Last Stand". Not so. This movie has a couple of mildly amusing jokes, but it's serious most of the way through. Yes, there are a couple of well-choreographed and entertaining action scenes, but the movie never really came together for me. My rating: 2 stars out of 4 stars.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

This is one the best films of the year. The acting is superb, the writing is clever, and the story is extremely compelling. Watching this movie was a wonderfully joyful experience. My rating: 4 stars out of 4 stars.

The Big Lebowski
½

This is quite a funny movie. The first half hour is probably the best part altogether and while the rest of the movie doesn't quite match up with that first act, the movie still is definitely worth watching. Jeff Bridges is perfect as the idiot stoner and John Goodman is very funny as the overly angry Walter, who is obsessed with bowling. There are all sorts of little things in this movie that are just so funny (eg. Sam Elliot as the narrator losing his train of thought, Jeff Bridges' character writing out checks for 69 cents, etc.). My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Wanted
Wanted(2008)
½

Absolutely silly and incredibly violent, but still a lot of fun. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

The Departed
The Departed(2006)

Violent, funny, superbly acted, and sharply written, "The Departed" makes for great entertainment. Martin Scorcese has made a masterful film. My rating: 4 stars out of 4 stars.

The Myth Of The American Sleepover
½

This movie made me feel warm at the end. Very interesting stories and likable characters and the actors (who are all unexperienced) are gifted natural actors. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Parental Guidance
½

Awful. Marisa Tomei is completely unlikable as the uptight mother who can't trust her parents to take care of her kids (which is totally ridiculous because the parents aren't all that bad) and the youngest child, Barker, is a charmless brat. And the sentiment wasn't really all that touching and heart-warming. It wasn't cringe-inducing, but it just didn't touch me. Billy Crystal gets a few chuckles, but overall, this is a terrible family movie. My rating: 1.5 stars out of 4 stars.

The Guilt Trip
½

"The Guilt Trip" is not a particularly deep movie, but it is fun to watch. Barbara Streisand and Seth Rogen have good chemistry and the script is quite clever and funny. I had a good time and I enjoyed myself. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

October Sky
October Sky(1999)
½

"October Sky" is a wonderful drama with splendid acting and the young characters are so ambitious and enthusiastic about rockets that you're just warmed to the heart and can't help but smile. It's a sentimental movie, but it's almost never schmaltzy. My rating: 3.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Street Kings
Street Kings(2008)

I went into this movie expecting a well-acted, thrilling gritty cop thriller. Instead, "Street Kings" is a bloody, boring crime drama with flat performances. It's a fairly big disappointment. My rating: 2 stars out of 4 stars.

Role Models
Role Models(2008)
½

There were quite a few times in this movie when I laughed out loud. Paul Rudd, playing one of his less likable movie characters, still manages to be charming and Seann William Scott is no stranger to playing a goofy idiot. Bobb'e J. Thompson is extremely funny as the profane child Ronny and Christopher Mintz-Plasse is wonderfully geeky as Augie. The ending, which involves a man attempting to win back his girlfriend by serenading her with music, is a tad sappy, but overall, I had a fun time. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Crash
Crash(2004)
½

This is a great movie filled with outstanding performances and an enthralling plot. My rating: 3.5 stars out of 4 stars.

The 40 Year Old Virgin
½

"The 40-Year-Old Virgin" is crass, profane, and sometimes a little gross (there's a scene where a woman barfs in a man's face). But it's also very funny. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Three Kings
Three Kings(1999)
½

David O. Russell√√,¬Ę(TM)s √√,¬ĘThree Kings√√,¬Ę√,? has been getting some great reviews. On the popular film site Rotten Tomatoes.com, 94% of critics have given it a positive review. Film critic Roger Ebert has given it four stars and placed it in the #3 position on his best of 1999 list. I don√√,¬Ę(TM)t think it√√,¬Ę(TM)s quite a masterpiece and I certainly didn√√,¬Ę(TM)t enjoy it as much as Steven Speilberg√√,¬Ę(TM)s WWII epic √√,¬ĘSaving Private Ryan√√,¬Ę√,? from 1998. Still, it√√,¬Ę(TM)s an entertaining war film. The year is March 1991 and the Gulf War has just ended. The movie focuses on four soldiers: Archie Gates (George Clooney), who we see having sex with a young reporter when we√√,¬Ę(TM)re introduced to him; Troy Barlow (Mark Wahlberg), who has just recently become a father; the religious Chief Elgin (rapper Ice Cube); and the dim-witted Conrad Vig (Spike Jonze, the director of √√,¬ĘBeing John Malkovich√√,¬Ę√,?). Early on in the movie, Troy and Conrad discover a map stuffed up an Arabic√√,¬Ę(TM)s bottom. With closer investigation, they see that it√√,¬Ę(TM)s a map showing all the bunkers that contain gold that was stolen by Saddam Hussein from Kuwait. Archie then comes up with the plan to visit all the bunkers so they can steal back the gold and give it back to Kuwait. Along the way, they decide to help a group of Arabics cross the Iranian border, including a man named Amir (Cliff Curtis). Meanwhile, Troy gets kidnapped by Saddam Hussein√√,¬Ę(TM)s men and is tortured by Captain Said (Said Taghmaoui). In one of the most interesting scenes in the movie, we see how Captain Said is a bad person. But dimensions are added to him as he explains to Barlow how he√√,¬Ę(TM)s only working for Saddam because the Americans bombed his child and he wants to earn some extra money to get a better home for his family. There are also some nice touches of humor throughout √√,¬ĘThree Kings√√,¬Ę√,?, the majority of it provided by Conrad Vig. I was amused by this exchange:ARCHIE: I√√,¬Ę(TM)m talking about millions in Kuwaiti bullion.CONRAD: You mean them little cubes you put in hot water to make soup?ARCHIE: No, not the little cubes you put in hot water to make soup. I was also interested by a scene where George Clooney explains to his fellow soldiers what happens when you are hit with a bullet. When we see the bullet inside the body, we see a puddle of bile spills out of the wound.I admired √√,¬ĘThree Kings√√,¬Ę√,?. The plot moves well and is interesting, the performances are solid, and the main characters are fairly likable and identifiable. It didn√√,¬Ę(TM)t have quite the same impact on me as other war movies have had on me (Like √√,¬ĘSaving Private Ryan√√,¬Ę√,?), but it√√,¬Ę(TM)s an honorable entry in the war movie genre. I apologize for the weird typing symbols. I copied and pasted this review from a Word Document that I typed.

Taken 2
Taken 2(2012)

There are some mildly entertaining little bits and pieces of action (eg. a man falling to his death after jumping across a rooftop and getting caught on a clothesline), but overall, the action sequences weren't all that exciting or entertaining or creative. Overall, the result is ho-hum. Rent the first "Taken" instead. My rating: 2 stars out of 4 stars.

Hotel Transylvania

There are some mildly amusing tidbits, but over-all, the movie isn't funny enough to support itself. Plus, the characters weren't very interesting and the story was cheesy (particularly the romance between Dracula's daughter and the human). It's a heck of a lot better than Adam Sandler's "Jack and Jill", but then again, that's not saying very much. My rating: 2 stars out of 4 stars.

The House Bunny
½

"The House Bunny" is a truly dismal comedy. Almost all the jokes are either crass, uncomfortable, mean-spirited, or just plain stupid. The main character isn't even dumb in a funny way. This is one of the worst comedies I've ever seen. My rating: 1.5 stars out of 4.

End of Watch
End of Watch(2012)

An expertly made cop thriller with great performances, good writing, an interesting plot and characters, and some thrilling (if not horrific) acton sequences.

Hit & Run
Hit & Run(2012)
½

There are some big laughs in this movie, but over-all, there's not enough funny stuff for me to recommend this movie. There are worse ways to spend your evening, though. My rating: 2 stars out of 4 stars.

Blood Diamond
½

√ĘBlood Diamond√Ę? is one heck of a movie. It√Ę(TM)s violent, disturbing, well-acted, intense, and the running time is about two and a half hours. It has the potential to wear you out and disturb people with its shocking, graphic violence. But, I admired it fairly well.
The year is 1999 and Sierra Leone is in the middle of a civil war. Day and night, rebel soldiers ride around in jeeps, listening to rap music and mowing down innocent bystanders like it√Ę(TM)s all one big, sick, fun game. The people they don√Ę(TM)t kill are sent to work in the diamond mines.
One person who is sent to work in the mines is a fisherman named Solomon (Djimon Honsou). He√Ę(TM)s been separated from his family and his little boy is brainwashed and turned into a child soldier.
One day, Solomon comes across a pink diamond of the rarest and largest kind and buries it in the dirt. However, shortly after, soldiers arrive and he loses track of the diamond amid all the chaos. Meanwhile, the evil Colonel Poison (David Harewood) is hell-bent on getting that diamond, probably even if it means killing everyone in his path.
Also involved in this whole diamond fiasco is Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio, with a South African accent), an ex-mercenary turned diamond smuggler. He teams up with Solomon because he wants to make some dough and get the heck out of South Africa.
Also coming along with Danny and Solomon is Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), an American journalist who wants to do a story on diamond smuggling and the diamond mines.
Amid all the gunfire, explosions, and dead bodies, √ĘBlood Diamond√Ę? has brief, quiet moments where the three main characters converse with one another and gorgeous shots of orange and pink sunsets and green jungles. The gorgeous locales clash nicely with the horrific violence.
Plus, Djimon Honsou gives a powerful performance as Solomon, who always seems to have traces of fear in his eyes. DiCaprio and Connelly are solid, too, particularly in a scene near the end where the two share an emotional phone call.
There are several thrilling, at times horrifying, action sequences in √ĘBlood Diamond√Ę?, like when Danny and Solomon are running through the city streets as people are shot down, children fire bazookas, and people are thrown from balconies. It√Ę(TM)s disturbing, but director Edward Zwick (√ĘGlory√Ę?, √ĘThe Last Samurai√Ę?) sure knows how to keep the movie interesting.
√ĘBlood Diamond√Ę? is a finely made thriller, if not a tad too long with its 143-minute running time. It also isn√Ę(TM)t afraid to delve into the theme of child soldiers, with scenes of children being drugged, blind-folded, and forced to shoot people at point-blank range.
At the end of the film, we√Ę(TM)re told that there are at least 200,000 child soldiers in Africa, but Sierra Leone√Ę(TM)s at peace. Let√Ę(TM)s hope Sierra Leone remains calm and we√Ę(TM)ll be rid of child soldiers soon.

I apologize for the mistakes I made by copying and pasting this review from a Word document. It didn't work out completely, but my overall opinion was this: I liked this movie. It's intense, violent, disturbing, long, and well-acted. It also has some very nice cinematography. My rating: A solid 3 stars out of 4 stars.

The Cold Light of Day
½

Something rare happened when I walked into the screening room that was showing "The Cold Light Of Day": I walked into it without knowing almost anything about it. I just knew that it was an action film with Henry Cavill (who will be playing Superman in "Man Of Steel"), Sigourney Weaver, and Bruce Willis. I thought it could be good and there wasn't a lot of stuff playing in theaters, so I thought I'd check it out. I thought it was interesting to walk into a movie cold, but that doesn't excuse the fact that this movie is very bad. Henry Cavill's character is one-dimensional and his line readings are flat. Bruce Willis seems like he's going to be a bad-ass when he walks in and beats the crap out of a bunch of guys. Then, boom. He's dead and gone. That's the end of him. Plus, the action scenes are boring. This is a terrible action movie and one of the worst films of 2012. My rating: 1.5 stars out of 4.

Lawless
Lawless(2012)

This is a very violent movie. It is definitely not for the faint of heart and could very well upset some people (the person I saw it with was rather disturbed by it). But this is a very well-made movie, as well. "Lawless" has some very good performances by its talented cast, with the likes of Shia Labeouf, Dane DeHaan (the kid who goes crazy in "Chronicle"), and Guy Pearce, who is very creepy as the villain. There's also a sweet romance between Labeouf and Mia Wasikowska. So, you should proceed it with caution, but even if you leave "Lawless" having been horribly upset and disturbed, I bet that you'll be able to recognize its good qualities. My rating: A very positive 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Lymelife
Lymelife(2008)
½

When I first started to watch this film, I thought that it was going to be a dark comedy or a comedy-drama. Actually, though, it's not a comedy. Not at all. But this is still a very well-made movie. I admired the performances by Rory Culkin and Emma Roberts and Timothy Hutton. I also liked Rory's brother Kieran as Rory's older brother. When we first meet his character, we see him as a kind, loving son and brother. He appears to be charming. But when he finds out about his brother getting beaten up at school, he drives to the kid's house, drags him out on the front lawn, and beats him senseless. It's a nicely nuanced performance. There are also some good scenes where the characters get angry at each other and yell and scream (There's a well-staged argument between Alec Baldwin and Jill Hennesy that could be upsetting, but it's a well-acted scene.). This is a good film, but remember this: This is not a comedy. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

10 Things I Hate About You
½

I liked this movie a fair bit. I thought that there were some reasonably funny scenes and I liked Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Julia Stiles, and David Krumholtz. I also thought that there was some good chemistry between Ledger and Stiles. I also liked the scene where Ledger tries to win over Stiles by singing to her while at soccer practice. You'd think that it'd be contrived, but I was rather charmed by it. "10 Things I Hate About You" is an enjoyable teenaged romantic comedy. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Brick
Brick(2006)

"Brick", the debut feature of writer-director Rian Johnson, has good acting, some interesting scenes, and a cool detective noir score, but I could hardly understand a bloody thing that went on.

It's got an intriguing premise: A murder mystery set in high school. Brendan Frye (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a teenaged outsider who eats lunch by himself behind the shcool. One day, he gets a phone call from his ex, Emily (Emilie de Ravin). She babbles disjointedly, saying words like "brick", "tug", and "the pin". She suddenly hangs up. The next day, she tells him to forget what she said. The next morning, Brendan finds her dead body in a trench.

Brendan then decides to take matters into his own hands by trying to find out who killed Emily. He enlists the help of an old friend nicknamed The Brain (Matt O'Leary), who is solving a Rubix cube when we're first introduced to him.

We later find out that Tug (Noah Fleiss) is an angry, often violent henchman to a handicapped drug dealer nicknamed The Pin (Lukas Haas). Brendan infiltrates his group to dig up information on his deceased ex. While doing this, he finds out that the "brick" Emily was talking about was a brick of heroin. Then, stories about people being killed or hospitalized by a defective brick start spreading.

There's also a girl named Laura (Nora Zehetner), who's with a pompous jock named Brad (Brian White), who's always raging about how the football coach won't let him play. They're both somehow connected to The Pin.

Oh, I almost forgot about Dode (Noah Segan), a druggie who hangs out behind a coffee and pie shop, and an actress named Kara (Meagan Good), who had a sort-of relationship with Brendan back when he was a freshman. He often comes to her for information, usually treating her coldly.

When I read about this film, I thought it sounded pretty cool. I liked the idea of a film noir with teenagers, it had gotten good reviews, and the lead actor was Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who's probably my favourite actor. And "Brick" did sort of intrigue me. Gordon-Levitt is solid as usual, there are some clever bits of humor, and there are some intensely staged scenes that I admired (eg. When Brendan is attacked and chased by a knife-wielding high school student.).

But alas, the movie has a nearly fatal flaw: It's confusing as hell.

Seriously, half the time, I didn't know what was happening. I don't think it's the script that's the problem, but the way the actors talk. They often mumble, whisper, or speak way too quickly for us to know what they're really saying. Because of this, I was totally lost plot-wise.

I'm not sure whether I should say you should see it. It has some good qualities, no doubt about that, but I had a very tough time hearing the dialogue. Here's what I'll do: I just watched it last night on DVD, so I'm not going to watch it again right now. I'll wait a couple of months and watch it again with subtitles so I can get a better understanding of what went on. You might want to do the same if you want to see "Brick", unless you have Vulcan hearing. Until then, I'm sort of stuck in the middle.

My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

I Could Never Be Your Woman
½

Goodness, this movie's bad. It starts out as harmless, but not very good, and it eventually becomes plain terrible and I wanted it to end. The only good thing in the movie is the always great Paul Rudd. The funniest scene is one where Rudd takes Michelle Pfeiffer to a nightclub and starts dancing. But even that doesn't save the movie. The jokes weren't funny, Michelle Pfeiffer was kind of annoying as Rosie, and I also disliked Saorise Ronan as Pfeiffer's daughter Izzie, who says a bunch of idiotic things like this: Izzie: Can you call me Drew? Rosie: What's wrong with a name like Izzie? Izzie: Nothing! Just call me Drew from now on, okay!? Tracey Ullman is quite annoying and unlikable, too, as Mother Nature, who keeps telling Rosie that she's too old for Paul Rudd's character. I also didn't like the scene where Izzie sings in the talent show. It just sort of made me uncomfortable for some weird reason. This is a terrible romantic comedy. Paul Rudd deserved better than this and given that the movie was directed by Amy Heckerling, whose past works include "Fast Times At Ridgemont High" and "Clueless", which are actually good films. My rating: 1.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Premium Rush
Premium Rush(2012)
½

"Premium Rush" is a fast-paced thriller that has great pacing and thrilling action sequences. Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes a likable hero and MIchael Shannon is quite creepy and menacing as the villain. This is one of the best action movies of the year and definitely the best action film of the summer. My rating: 3.5 stars out of 4 stars.

ParaNorman
ParaNorman(2012)
½

I liked this movie. The voice actors were pretty good, the stop-motion animation was well-done (if not a little weird looking for some characters), and there are a lot of very funny moments in this movie. I liked this exchange: Norman: I like to be alone. Neil: Me too! Let's do it together! This is a good animated film. Young kids might be a tad freaked out by the zombies, but I think that older kids will still really like it. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Fargo
Fargo(1996)
½

I liked this movie, but not as much as everyone else loves it. Personally, I think "Burn After Reading" is a funnier film. But I still liked "Fargo". I think Frances Macdormand was quite likable and funny as Marge Gunderson. Steve Buscemi also got a few funny lines, too, as one of the kidnappers. There are also some funny exchanges between police officers and locals. Example: Marge talking to two hookers who had sex with the kidnappers.
Marge: So, can you describe the kidnappers for me?
Hooker: Well, the little guy was kinda funny lookin'.
Marge: Can you be a bit more specific?
Hooker: Well, he wasn't circumcised.

I liked some of the quirky, oddball humor that the Coen Brothers are so well known for and I liked some of the performances by the actors. I don't think it's one of the best movies I've ever seen, like Roger Ebert has said, but I still enjoyed it. My rating: A solid 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Bad Boys
Bad Boys(1995)
½

Goodness, I hated this movie. I couldn't wait for it to end. The "witty banter" between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence wasn't funny at all. They just screamed and swore at each other. Also, the action wasn't really all that exciting for me. This is a terrible action film. Currently on Rottentomatoes.com, this film is standing at 43%. The sequel, "Bad Boys II", is standing somewhere in the 20 percent section. If this is supposed to be better than the sequel, then the second movie must be REALLY bad. My rating: 1.5 stars out of 4 stars.

The Odd Life of Timothy Green
½

I liked this movie. I liked the actors Jennifer Garner, Joel Edgerton, and CJ Adams. The story kept me interested and at times, made me feel heartwarmed. If there is one problem with the movie, I would complain about a scene where Garner, Adams, and Edgerton sing "Lowrider". It sort of made me chuckle, but it mostly made me feel awkward and cringe. Thankfully, the scene ended quickly. Other than that, though, the movie charmed me and touched me. "The Odd Life Of Timothy Green" is a good family film. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Bowfinger
Bowfinger(1999)
½

I bet almost all movie directors have wanted something so badly that they'll do whatever it takes to get what they want, even if it's crazy. But I doubt they're as crazy as Bobby Bowfinger, the protagonist of Frank Oz's comedy "Bowfinger". Bowfinger (Steve Martin) is a small time B-movie director who has just read what he thinks is a great script written by an accountant - a science fiction flick called "Chubby Rain", about aliens who appear in raindrops. In fact, he thinks it's so great that he thinks Kit Ramsay (Eddie Murphy) - Hollywood's #1 action star - will immediately agree to star in it. Ramsay doesn't even read the script and shoos Bowfinger away.Just when Bobby thinks he and his film are doomed, he hatches a crazy idea: They'll film the movie around Kit! The other actors will go up to Ramsay and recite their lines and his reaction will be used in the film. It's an idea so outrageous and absurd that it... just might work.Among the people in Bobby's film crew are a pretentious, self-absorbed diva (Christine Baranski), a wannabe actress (Heather Graham) who sleeps with practically the whole crew just to get a career boost, immigrants who illegally crossed the border, and a geeky Kit Ramsay look-a-like named Jiff (Eddie Murphy again).Sound crazy to you? That's because it is! But "Bowfinger" also happens to be pretty funny.Murphy is quite funny as he's approached by these actors screaming mumbo jumbo about aliens and thinks he's losing his mind. His frightened and baffled expressions are priceless. There's also a hysterical scene where Bowfinger makes Kit's double run across a freeway through moving traffic to film a scene. "Isn't that kinda dangerous?" Jiff inquires. Bobby waves it off. "It's okay. They're stunt drivers!""Bowfinger" is not the funniest movie I've ever seen, but there are some pretty funny scenes and Eddie Murphy delivers some good laughs as he desperately gambles about, trying to shake off the possibility he's losing his mind and seeks help from his Scientologist-esque mentor (Terrence Stamp). On that level, "Bowfinger" delivers the comedic goods. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Four Weddings and a Funeral
½

Hugh Grant is one of the most charming actors in romantic comedies and he shows off that charm in "Four Weddings and A Funeral", a good rom-comc that follows a familiar path, but is enjoyable still.

Grant stars as Charles, a kindly, awkward Brit who has had several girlfriends, but never really loved any of them.

Throughout the course of the movie, Charles attends four weddings and a funeral. At every one of these events, he meets up with Carrie (Andie MacDowell), a pretty American. They sleep together and seem to really like each other (At one point, Charlie says he loves her.), but they keep drifting apart and always get together at inconvenient times in their lives.

There are many likable and amusing supporting characters in this film, including Charlie's deaf brother, Charlie's quirky looking roommate, and a priest who messes up nearly every one of his sentences during a wedding ceremony. This priest is played with brilliant comic timing by Rowan Atkinson, who you may know from "Mr. Bean" and "Blackadder".

What happens between Charles and Carrie I will not say, but if you've seen other romantic comedies (and I'm sure you have), what happens will not come as a surprise to you.

Not that that's a major problem. The only real quibbles I can come up with are a couple of clunkish lines by screenwriter Richard Curtis.
Example: When Charles and Carrie reunite in a rainstorm, they share this exchange:
CHARLES: YOU'RE NOT GOING TO LEAVE, ARE YOU?
CARRIE: NO. I MIGHT DROWN, THOUGH.
That line's pretty cheesy, but easily forgivable.

Yeah, there are a few stupid lines and the plot isn't anything really new. But so what? "Four Weddings and A Funeral" charmed me with its likable, talented cast and amusing jokes. And you know what? I think you'll be charmed, too. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

The Replacements
½

I think one of the reasons why I didn't like "The Replacements" all that much is because I do not know all that much about football. Then again, I still admired the baseball movie "Moneyball" for its sharp writing and strong performances. Unfortunately, "The Replacements" doesn't have enough of that to get a mild recommendation from yours truly.

Keanu Reeves plays Shane Falco, a washed up quaterback who has been publicly riducled for blowing a huge football game back in '96. However, when a football team goes on strike, retired football coach Jimmy McGinty (Gene Hackman) is called out of retirement so he can put together a team of replacement players so they can compete in the play-offs. The replacements include a burly, gung-ho cop (Jon Favreau), a deaf person, a sumo wrestler, and Shane Falco.

There's also a romance between Shane and the team's head cheerleader (Brooke Langton), who's compiled their whole cheerleading squad of strippers.

There are a lot of football matches in "The Replacements", which I think football fanatics will enjoy. To be honest, I don't follow football and I honestly don't WANT to learn about it. That's why these football scenes didn't really have me on the edge of my seat with suspense.

There are some mildly amusing moments in "The Replacements", including some scenes where Jon Favreau is so excited about football that he'll beat the stuffing out of his own teammates. I also liked two sibling bodyguards who at one point shoot up a jerky character's car. And I also enjoyed some of the shots of the very attractive cheerleaders.

Sadly, though, this football comedy's football scenes weren't that compelling to a non-football fan like myself and there aren't nearly enough funny parts for me to recommend it. I'm disappointed to report that this movie does not score a touchdown. My rating: 2 stars out of 4 stars.

Burn After Reading
½

"Burn After Reading" is the first film I've seen by the Coen Brothers. No joke. I haven't seen "Fargo", "O Brother Where Art Thou", or even "Raising Arizona". I guess I've never really gotten around to seeing one of their movies. But I've got to tell you: I've now seen "Burn After Reading" and it's quite a first impression. In the beginning of the movie, CIA agent Osborne Cox (a hilariously angry John Malkovich) is fired because he has a drinking problem. In his free time, Osborne decides to write a memoir about the experience he had in the CIA and dictates it into a recording device. This important information is then put on to a CD and ends up on a locker room floor at a gym. Then, two dim-witted gym employees from that gym named Chad and Linda (Brad Pitt and Frances Macdormand) stumble upon this CD. Realizing that this is some very important data, they decide to contact Cox. They'll give him the CD if he pays them a reward. When Chad goes to talk to Osborne, Chad is punched in the face.Meanwhile, Osborne's wife, Katie (Tilda Swinton), is cheating on him with Harry (George Clooney), a married federal marshal. Harry is also in a relationship with Linda, who he met through online dating. As you can tell, almost all the characters in this movie are either morally reprehensible or complete idiots, except for Linda and Chad's boss (Richard Jenkins), who has a crush on Linda and just wants to help out.Just because there are almost no likable characters, though, doesn't mean that "Burn After Reading" is a bad movie. There are a lot of funny scenes in this movie. I enjoyed the exchanges between a CIA agent and his superior (the wonderfully deadpan J.K. Simmons).Example:AGENT: WE'LL GET TO WORK ON THIS DEAD BODY.SUPERIOR: NO! GOD, NO! BURN THE BODY. GET RID OF IT.John Malkovich is great, too, as the foul-mouthed, constantly angry Osborne Cox. Malkovich, like Samuel L. Jackson, can make cursing entertaining. Brad Pitt is quite funny, as well, playing the idiotic gym employee who constantly seems baffled by the situations he faces. For example, when he calls Osborne up late at night so he can tell him about the CD and ask for a reward, Osborne blows up at him. When Chad hangs up the phone, he appears to be rather perplexed and says, "I am very surprised that he did not give us that reward.""Burn After Reading" is a pretty good dark comedy, although according to movie critic Roger Ebert, who liked the film, this is not one of the Coen Brothers' great films. If this is only a good film from them, I eagerly await to get another taste of their greater works. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Rounders
Rounders(1998)

I don't know if the fact that I know nothing about poker and many other card games has anything to do with my limited enjoyment of "Rounders". That's probably the reason, but I think that there's enough god stuff here to get a mild recommendation.Matt Damon, one of my favourite actors, stars as Mike. He loves playing cards, but after losing all his money in a card game to Teddy KGB (John Malkovich), who's connected to the Russian mafia, Mike swears off playing cards. He moves on with his life by getting a job driving a delivery truck, going to law school, and dating a pretty classmate (Gretchen Mol). However, that quickly falls apart when Mike's childhood friend (Edward Norton) gets out of jail. This guy's so skeezy that even his name oozes with skeeziness: Worm.Anyway, Worm talks Mike into playing cards again. Mike feels alive when he's playing, but pretty soon, it all goes to Hell. Mike's girlfriend leaves him, he falls behind in his law school assignments, and then Worm tells Mike has has to give $15, 000 to Teddy KGB in five days - or else.During this movie, we hear lots of card jargon both in Damon's voice-over and the games. This is one of the reasons why I'm not giving "Rounders" a rave review. But another reason why I don't love this movie is because the plot just didn't get me that involved. I guess it kept my interest, but I didn't feel all that excited or enthusiastic as the plot unfolded."Rounders" does have some good qualities, though. You care for Matt Damon in this movie, who's giving yet another good performance. And Edward Norton is completely believable as Mike's creepy friend.Martin Landau is effective, too as one of Mike's law professors who sees the trouble Mike is in and wants to help, but can't do very much.I think that if you have a vast knowledge of gambling and cards, you will probably like "Rounders" more than I did. That being said, though, I think you can still enjoy the film if you don't know about cards. Just remember two things: 1) Don't gamble and 2) Don't make friends with people whose nickname is Worm. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

The Campaign
The Campaign(2012)

"The Campaign" is a crazy, lewd, crude R-rated comedy that will most likely offend quite a few people. Not all the jokes work entirely, but the movie does have some very big laughs. It's not like it's an Academy Award winner and it's not the funniest movie I've ever seen, but I think there are enough funny parts to support the film. A mild recommendation. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Parenthood
Parenthood(1989)
½

I liked this movie. The movie has quite a good balance of comedic and dramatic scenes and I really was interested in the stories of the characters. One complaint I do have about the movie is a scene where a character tries to get his wife back by singing a romantic song to her in front of a classroom. It avoids the uplifting score that usually plays in scenes like this, but it still seemed a tad contrived. But that's only a minor complaint. There are some good dramatic scenes and some really funny parts, too. There's a really funny scene where after Steve Martin's son gets mad at him for making him play second base in baseball, Martin has a vision of his son shooting from a bell-tower and wreaking havoc while yelling, "You made me play second base!" This is a good film. Seek it out if you haven't seen it. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

The Matrix Reloaded
½

I really liked the first Matrix film. I thought the special effects were really cool and the action sequences were thrilling. The movie also had a very intriguing premise.. While "The Matrix Reloaded" has good visuals and some entertaining action scenes, the story is at times pretty hard to follow, but most importantly, the movie's plot is not that interesting. There were times during this film that my attention wandered. So, there are some pretty cool action scenes, including a chase scene on a freeway. But the major problem was the story. At times, it was a bit confusing and not nearly interesting enough to keep my attention. My rating: 2 stars out of 4 stars.

Management
Management(2009)

Well, I guess I'm going to give this movie a mildly positive review. It has some good acting, especially Steve Zahn, who gives a pretty convincing performance as the socially awkward sadsack who's determined to be with Jennifer Anniston's character no matter what the cost. However, I think that this movie was supposed to be a comedy and I think on that level, the movie fails. The film's not very funny. It's more awkward and uncomfortable, instead. Still, it's got some good writing and some fine performances, so I think I'll just give it a mild recommendation. I don't think it's worth going out of your way to see, though. My rating: A mild 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Shoot 'Em Up
Shoot 'Em Up(2007)
½

Okay, this movie is totally riculous and extremely violent. I won't deny it. But "Shoot 'Em Up" is also great, zippy fun with fast-paced, hilariously over the top action scenes and Paul Giamatti is great as the wonderfully evil villain. Violent, but very entertaining. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

The Bourne Legacy
½

I liked this movie. There are some great action sequences, including a great chase scene near the end of the film, and most of the cast members give good performances. Plus, "The Bourne Legacy" has good pacing because the 2 hours and 15 minutes just flew by. However, the movie is not perfect. The movie's storytelling skills are not always clear, including some flashbacks and conversations that left me confused. Still, though, this is pretty good action fare and I think audience members will definitely get their money's worth. My rating: A solid 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Lara Croft - Tomb Raider

Wow, this is one silly movie. There are some very ridiculous scenes in the movie, including one where Angelina Jolie stuffs a scredriver down a gun and shoots it at the enemy and another one where after a guy takes a knife to the chest, he gets right back up and shows off some sweet fighting moves like it's no big deal. That being said, though, I had a fun time and there were some fun action sequences. And of course, Angelina Jolie is great eye candy for men to goggle at. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Hope Springs
Hope Springs(2012)

I do not think I am the target audience for this film. The movie's target audience is older adults and married couples. I am neither, so I don't think I'll love this film like everyone else will. But I still enjoyed it. Tommy Lee Jones and Meryl Streep are both very good in their performances. They have some very nice scenes together during their couples counseling sessions. Steve Carrell gives fine work, too, as the counselor. There are also some funny scenes as Tommy Lee Jones and Meryl Streep try to restore the flare to their marriage.
So, I'm not the target audience for this movie, but I still sort of enjoyed it.
My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai
½

Well, this is a very strange film. There are some strangely funny bits throughout the film, including a scene where Buckaroo Banzai (Peter Weller) says, "No matter where you go, there you are." However, I found the plot to be sort of hard to follow and a lot of the humor was more weird than funny. Still, it was an interesting experience to see the movie because while I was out of town, I saw it in this old theater. It was pretty cool to see an old movie in an old movie theater. Still, though, it was more weird than funny.
My rating: 2 stars out of 4 stars.

Ruby Sparks
Ruby Sparks(2012)

I liked this movie, although I liked the first half better than the second half. In the first half of the film, I liked Paul Dano's performance as the nervous, neurotic mess that is Calvin and Zoe Kazan was fairly lovable as the dream girl, Ruby Sparks. There are also some clever and funny bits of dialogue.
Then came the second half of the movie. In the second half of the film, Ruby's character becomes occasionally annoying and unlikable as Calvin tweaks little details of her character. Also, Calvin becomes a little creepy. For example, Ruby yells at Calvin, "You can't control me!". Calvin replies, "I don't know about that. I think I can control you." Then, he quietly stalks off into his study to tweak more details on his typewriter. In this scene, Calvin almost comes off as some sort of quietly deranged psychopath, which I don't think is what you should be thinking about during a movie like this.
Of course, the movie definitely has good qualities and I did enjoy it. The ending is quite good and there are some good performances and good dialogue bits. I also think the message of how controlling loved ones can just drive them away is a nice message, even though I wasn't 100 percent satisfied with the execution. So, I liked it, but with reservations.
My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Celeste and Jesse Forever
½

I really liked this movie a lot. It's funny and quirky (In one scene, Andy Samberg and Rashida Jones speak in German accents), but the dramatic performances by the cast are very good, too. Rashida Jones is particularly effective as Celeste and (surprisingly) Andy Samberg from "Saturday Night Live" shows off his comedic and dramatic chops in a nicely nuanced performance. The supporting characters are quite entertaining, too, including the characters Tucker and Beth (Ari Graynor and Eric Christian Olsen) and Elijah Wood as Rashida Jones's gay pal who sometimes tries a bit too hard to be the sassy, gay pal.
A lot of romantic comedies follow the same formula: Two people have a Meet Cute and fall in love. There's a big misunderstanding and they break up. They realize that they've made a big mistake and there's a big climax (occasionally a chase). They make up and then the movie's over. I like these movies, but every now and then, little films like "500 Days Of Summer" and "Celeste and Jesse Forever" come along and choose to go down a different path. I await more films like those.
My rating: 3.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Mean Creek
Mean Creek(2004)

"Mean Creek", an indie picture from 2004, tells the story of Sam (Rory Culkin), a young boy who gets beaten up one day by a bully named George (Josh Peck). When Sam tells his older brother Rocky (Trevor Morgan) about this, Rock, Sam, and Rocky's friends Marty and Clyde (Scott Mechlowicz and Ryan Kelley) plan to prank George.

They plan to invite him to a "birthday party" for Sam out on the river so they can make him strip naked, jump in the river, and run home naked. However, when the day comes and they go out on the water, the kids starts to feel sorry for George, realizing that George is lonely and they learn more about his dyslexia. But, Marty doesn't want to call it off and it all leads up to one moment when Marty has told George of the plan and George insults everyone on the boat, until he goes too far with one too many insults.

The movie is rated R (for language, sexual references, teen drug and alcohol use) in the States. Film critic Roger Ebert felt that the MPAA was being unfair in its decision, thinking that kids have heard the f word many times before and that the movie could be a useful learning tool in schools. I see his point, but then again, this movie's not for everyone. It's got a lot of swearing, which could make people uncomfortable, teens do drugs and drink, but most importantly , the final act could upset many viewers.

That aside, though, this movie is very well-made. The young actors are all very strong and the cinematography is gorgeous, with the shots of the sky, the lake, waterfalls, and flying birds.

I especially liked Josh Peck's performance as the bully. The movie shows he's not just some mean old bully. yes, hecan be mean, but in some scenes, we are shown that the kid has some humanity. In the beginning of the film, you see him pounding on poor Sam's character, but as soon as he stepped into the car to go to the river and said, "Happy birthday, Sammy boy!", my heart broke because I felt so sorry for him, knowing what those kids had planned. I especially found the scene where George insults everyone on the boat to be very uncomfortable to watch because of all the horrible names he uses and terrible things he says about people, but at the same time, I found it to be very powerful.

So, like I said, "Mean Creek" is not a movie for everyone, but if you can handle it, you're in for a very powerful movie that shows that revenge is not always as sweet as it might seem.

Risky Business
½

This is a pretty good movie. In this movie, Tom Cruise is quite charismatic and likable as a nice kid who just happens to get into a lot of crazy situations (eg. having all his furniture stolen by a pimp, accidentally letting his dad's car fall into the lake, etc.). I also thought that Curtis Armstrong got some good lines as Cruise's best friend Miles who talks his character into doing all the stupid things he ends up doing in the film. The opening scene is pretty funny, too, where Cruise's character Joel is having a sex dream and ends up walking into a classroom full of kids taking their college exams. He's three hours late and he says, "I've made a terrible mistake. I'll never get to college. My life is ruined." Currently, this movie is standing at 98% and I know that respected film critic Roger Ebert gave this movie four stars out of four. I don't know if it's quite worth that. Maybe it's because that this movie was very influential at the time of its release and it just has a lot of stuff that I've seen in other movies before. That's probably what it is, but I still liked this movie a fair bit. A young Tom Cruise gives a charismatic, likable performance as the main character, there are some funny lines of dialogue, and the movie is never boring. This is an entertaining teen sex comedy. I would say that it's worth seeing. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

U.S. Marshals
½

I really liked this semi-sequel to "The Fugitive". I haven't seen "The Fugitive" in a few years, but I still think that people can enjoy "U.S. Marshals" without having seen "The Fugitive". Tommy Lee Jones turns in a good performance as always, the plot has some good twists, and there are some pretty exciting action sequences. It's no Oscar winner, but I still really enjoyed this movie a lot. It's a good action movie and considering that I saw this movie right after finishing watching "Lethal Weapon 4", I was happy to see a well-made, exciting action film. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

Lethal Weapon 4
½

I saw the first two Lethal Weapon films. I liked them both, the first one best. I didn't see the third one, but I just saw the fourth film, "Lethal Weapon 4". I really did not like it at all. There is a really good car chase halfway through the film and the final action scene was sort of entertaining. However, the comic dialogue is terrible. It's not even clever. It mostly consists of the main actors yelling and swearing and talking over each other. This film is very poorly made, but then again, I still didn't mind watching it all that much. I was able to watch it without wanting to kill myself... or to be less extreme, run from the house and never come back. Still, that doesn't mean "Lethal Weapon 4" is a good movie. Instead of watching this lackluster sequel, check out the first two films. My rating: 1.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Total Recall
Total Recall(2012)

I think that critics are being really harsh with this movie. It's not like this movie's going to win any Oscars, but I had fun. There are some well-crafted, exciting action sequences, the story kept me interested, and I also enjoyed watching two very gorgeous actresses (Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel) take part in the action. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days

This is the third installment in the Wimpy Kid film series. I have seen the first two movies. I enjoyed both of them. I have now seen the third film and I can now tell you that this is my least favourite of the bunch. Don't get me wrong. I didn't hate the movie. I would much rather sit through this again rather than suffer with "Dark Shadows" or "Madea's Witness Protection". There are some laughs in the movie and kids will probably enjoy the gross-out gags that this movie provides. However, I found a lot of the uncomfortable situations that the character Greg got into to be just uncomfortable and embarrassing rather than amusing and the gross-out gags weren't all that funny. They were just kind of... well, gross. At times, I did pity poor Greg because... well, let's face it: The world he lives in is like a living Hell. But I think that Greg sort of brings it on himself because he's such a bonehead. There's a scene where he loses his swimming trunks at a country club pool and is naked in the pool. When he has to leave, he asks a towel-boy to give him a tight, pink swimsuit. I guess this is supposed to provide laughs for the audience, but my reaction was: Why didn't he just ask for a towel? Another problem with the movie is a supporting character who is throwing a Sweet Sixteen party. They're quite obnoxious and rude and self-absorbed and their character seemed so cliched. They seemed like a character straight out of a Disney channel show. Also, at the end of the movie, Greg's brother Rodrick performs the Justin Bieber song "Baby" for that obnoxious girl and completely butchers it. Why is this scene in the movie? Because all kids know the song and they'll cackle with glee as Rodrick screams his lungs out as he sings the song. What did I do? I squirmed in my seat and waited for him to stop singing. Wow, I am bashing this movie quite a bit. But remember this: I did not hate the movie. I did laugh and I'm pretty sure that little kids will really enjoy it. It's just that the situations were mostly uncomfortable rather than funny, the gross-out gags were gross instead of funny AND gross, there were a few jokes that fell flat, and the obnoxious party girl character was a complete cliche. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

I like John Candy. I never met him personally, but he often plays likable characters. Even when he's doing very klutzy or stupid things that make you want to strangle him or run away from him, he seems like such a sweet guy who wants to do the right thing, but keeps getting into sticky situations. He plays this kind of character in "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles". Some of the situations that he and Steve Martin's character get into are situations that would make me lose my mind, but some of the situations that they get into are pretty funny. For example, there's a very funny scene where Candy and Martin are driving on the wrong side of the road when they don't know it. I won't describe the imagery because a) I might make it sound lame and/or b) I might spoil the scene for you. A lot of people have given this movie rah-rah reviews for this movie (eg. Roger Ebert gave it 3.5 stars out of 4 stars.). I don't think it's quite as good as that. I didn't laugh as much as I should to call this movie a comedy classic, but I still think that there are some pretty funny scenes in this movie and John Candy is likable in the role he plays. So, I'd say it's worth seeing, but it's not a classic, in my opinion. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Marvel's The Avengers

I honestly think that people are really over-hyping this movie. I mean, yes, the special effects are good and there are some really good comedic moments in the film. I liked the performances by Robert Downey, Jr. and Mark Ruffalo. However, it's way too long, almost being two and a half hours. I have seen the movie twice, but I only saw it because the people I was with wanted to see it again. If it had been my choice, I would have seen something else.My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4.

Must Love Dogs
½

I quite enjoyed this movie. Yes, it doesn't really bring anything new to the table of the romantic comedy genre, it is predictable, and the ending is a tad contrived. But I liked the two lead actors, the main characters were likable, there were some sweet moments, and I did laugh, as well. So, it's not an original rom-com. So what? I still found it to be very entertaining. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

The Matrix
The Matrix(1999)
½

This was a really good movie. Now, back in 1999, the special effects in this movie were groundbreaking. These particular effects has been imitated in several other movies, so it might not seem so unique to other people nowadays, but I still found them to be very cool. The movie is also filled with thrilling and well-staged action sequences. I also thought that the premise was pretty cool, too: The world that the people were living in was not real. It was really just a program and in real life, people are asleep in some goo pods with wires and tubes. This is a very good sci-fi action flick. Definitely seek this movie out. My rating: 3.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Grosse Pointe Blank

I chuckled a few times during this movie and it kept me interested. I liked the shootout at the very end of the movie, but I don't know, I didn't really find myself laughing all that much and when I did laugh, I wasn't laughing all that hard. I guess I recommend the movie because it kind of entertained me and I liked the final shootout, but it was supposed to be a comedy and I only laughed a few times during the film. Comedies are supposed to make you laugh a lot and this one made me laugh only occasionally. But hey, I still sort of enjoyed the movie. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

The Watch
The Watch(2012)
½

This movie was very disappointing. I had heard negative reviews before I saw the movie, but I ignored the critics. Well, I think a lot of them were right: "The Watch" is not that funny. I laughed occasionally, but there are simply not enough laughs to support an entire movie. You can't just have these talented comedic actors in a movie and expect them to carry the movie. You have to have a clever script and given that the movie's writers include Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the guys who wrote "Superbad", the movie should be a lot funnier than it really is. It's expensive to see movies nowadays. Why would you want to go see a mediocre raunchfest like this. My rating: 2 stars out of 4 stars.

Waitress
Waitress(2007)
½

I really liked this movie a lot. I liked Keri Russell in the lead role, who comes off as a very sweet, but very sad woman. I also liked the two friends she had that were played by Cheryl Hines and Adrienne Shelly. Jeremy Sisto was believable as the creepy, abusive husband, too. At times, the movie is quite sad, but it also has some very sweet moments and it all comes together very well in the end. This is a sweet, if at times sad, movie that I think is definitely worth seeing. My rating: 3.5 stars out of 4 stars.

A Prairie Home Companion

I kind of liked the movies. Both Meryl Streep and Lindsay Lohan do a very good job at singing in this movie, even though I did not really like all of the songs. I smiled at a few of the jokes, but to be honest, not all the songs were my Favourite and I didn't find myself laughing a whole lot. I don't know, maybe this movie just was not made for me. This was my first Robert Altman movie and I don't know if it was the greatest first impression, but I still sort of enjoyed it and I'm sure lots of other people will, too. My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

Manhattan
Manhattan(1979)
½

I liked this movie. I know someone who really loves this movie and I didn't love it as much as them. I can't think of anything bad to say about it really, but it just wasn't my favourite movie. I enjoyed "Annie Hall" and "Midnight In Paris" a bit more. I think maybe I enjoyed those movies a bit more because those movies were comedies and this movie wasn't just a comedy. Still, though, I liked the movie. I liked Woody Allen's performance and I also liked Mariel Hemingway in the few scenes that she appeared in. She has a really sweet, quiet voice that made her very likable. I also liked the ending, which isn't the cliched ending you often see in most movies today. So, it wasn't quite what I expected, but that's not a bad thing. It's a good movie and I definitely recommend it. My rating: 3 stars out of 4 stars.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
½

This was probably my favourite Twilight movie so far. My least favourite was New Moon. I'm not sure why, but there was just something about New Moon. The first Twilight movie was my second favourite. This one I thought had great action, it was funny and I liked how Bella was torn between the polite, charming werewolf Jacob and the extremely pale, mopey vampire Edward. If I were her, I'd choose Jacob. Edward is too pale and too depressing. So, yeah, I liked Twilight Saga: Eclipse and I think that no matter what some people might say about this movie (negative or positive), you should see it.

The Three Stooges
½

Look, the guys who play the Stooges (Will Sasso, Sean Hayes, Chris Diamantopoulos) do a great job at imitating the former Stooges. I did chuckle a couple of times, but to be honest, I am not a big fan of slapstick humor. If you are a huge fan of slapstick you will really like this movie, but because that's not my type of humor, I didn't really think this movie was all that good. My rating: 2 stars out of 4 stars.

50/50
50/50(2011)
½

I really liked this movie. There were some really funny moments in this movie and there were also some very touching moments. I really thought that Joseph Gordon-Levitt was really good in this movie, like he is in every movie I have seen him in. Seth Rogen also gets a lot of really good lines. "50/50" has a really nice balance of comedy and drama. Definitely seek this movie out.

Scoop
Scoop(2006)

I liked this movie. I had just watched "To Rome With Love" a couple of days before watching this movie, so I was glad to see a good Woody Allen movie after that mediocre film. I got invested in the plot of "Scoop" and I liked Woody Allen as the magician who ends up helping Scarlett Johansson in her muder investigation. Hugh Jackman was rather charming, too, as the suspect in the murder investigation who Johansson falls for. It's not as good as "Annie Hall" or "Midnight In Paris", but it's pretty entertaining and a heck of a lot better than "To Rome WIth Love". My rating: 2.5 stars out of 4 stars.

To Rome with Love

I did not really like this movie very much. There was the odd funny part and I did like Alec Baldwin. Woody Allen himself gets some good lines, but that is about it. There wasn't enough funny stuff to support a feature length film, there might have been too many stories, and to be honest, I was baffled by how much adultery was committed throughout the film (not a good kind of baffling). This movie was a disappointment after "Midnight In Paris". Maybe Woody Allen's next picture will be better. My rating: 2 stars out of 4.

The Dark Knight Rises

"The Dark Knight Rises" is a flawed film, but it is worth seeing. I will now explain the movie's positives and negatives:
Positives:
1. Good performances from Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
2. Some thrilling action sequences.
3. Some good moments of humor.
4. A well-executed ending.
Negatives:
1. Hard to understand what some of the actors were saying. I could hardly understand what Tom Hardy was saying, with the mask he was wearing over his face. I also had a hard time understanding what Christian Bale was saying when he was disguising his voice with that growling whisper of his when he was dressed as Batman.
2. Sometimes, it was hard to understand what was going on.
3. The movie, with its 165 minute running time, could have been a bit shorter.
Verdict: See "The Dark Knight Rises". It's a well-made film, even though it's not without its flaws.

I Love You, Man

I thought that this was a really funny movie. I really liked the two leads, Paul Rudd and Jason Segel. They're both comedic actors who just have such likable personalities. The characters they played in this movie struck me as the type of people who I might not mind running into on the street. I also liked some of the earlier scenes in the movie where Paul Rudd's character hasn't met Jason Segel's character. The scenes where Paul Rudd was looking for people to be his best man were pretty funny (especially the scene where Paul Rudd is hanging out with Jon Favreau and throws up in his face). This movie does have some crude humor, but it's crassness doesn't get in the way of the movie being funny.

Ice Age: Continental Drift

I didn't really like this film all that much. I laughed occasionally, but to be honest, I think the only people who will really be liking this movie is kids. I mean that both as a compliment and a criticism. Kids are going to be delighted while viewing this film (there was one child behind me at the screening I went to who seemed to love it), but that's just about the only people who will really like it. If you are not a very young child, you probably won't like it that much. But, let it be said that the movie does have its funny moments, most of them provided either by the character Sid (voiced by John Leguizamo) or Scrat, who, no matter how hard he tries, never gets his acorn.
My rating: 2 stars out of 4.

Vantage Point

I really liked this movie a lot. I thought it was really interesting how the movie would keep showing the moment leading up to the assassination from different points of view. I also liked the final chase scene in the movie. There were some very exciting moments. I disagree with the critics that didn't like this movie. I thought that it was a first-rate thriller with some very exciting moments.

Casper
Casper(1995)
½

I know that I'm not the target audience for this movie. "Casper" really is a kids movie, but to be honest, it's not that great a movie. If you're a little kid, you'll probably love it, but if you aren't a child, you probably won't like it as much. I guess it's kind of cool with the effects with the ghosts and I didn't want to kill myself while watching it, but the funny parts weren't very funny and the the three dead uncles were kind of annoying and just unlikable. I didn't find them very funny. So, in short, kids will like it, but anyone older than young children probably will not like it.
My rating: 2 stars out of 4.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
½

This was a pretty good movie. I liked the performances by the all-star British cast, which includes Judi Dench and Bill Nighy. There were also some good comedic parts.
My rating: 3 stars out of 4.

People Like Us

I did not like this movie very much. For the first third of the movie or so, it was quite annoying because Chris Pine's character was very unlikable. For the second third of the movie, I was annoyed because I wanted Chris Pine's character to man up so he could tell Elizabeth Bank's that they were related. The last third of the movie was a bit better because Chris Pine finally tells the truth and they all come together at the end and forgive each other. Still, that does NOT make the movie worth your time. My rating: 2 stars out of 4.

Wedding Crashers
½

Like "Superbad", this is not a movie you should watch if you are easily offended. This has a lot of crass humor, four-letter words, and some nudity. However, if you are not easily offended, you are in for a pretty funny movie. This movie has some very good laughs, including a hilarious touch-football scene where Vince Vaughn is constantly knocked down. The two leads, Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn, are both great and I love the scenes where Vince Vaughn is anxiously rattling off about his worries (eg. avoiding Isla Fisher's character, Gloria). I should also mention that I liked Will Ferrell's cameo near the end of the movie. I think that's all I'm going to say. I don't want to spoil anything else.
My rating: 3 stars out of 4.

Superbad
Superbad(2007)
½

First of all, this movie is not for the easily offended. It's got a lot of sex jokes and four-letter words and underage drinking and some drug use by adults. But, if you aren't one to be easily offended, check out "Superbad". I really liked the two leads, Jonah Hill and Michael Cera. I also liked the dialogue, especially where Hill and Cera's friend Fogell (played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse) shows them his fake ID. The fake ID says his name's Mclovin. Their reaction:Seth: He doesn't even have a first name! It just says Mclovin!Evan: One name? One name? Who are you, Seal?Sometimes, you just have to laugh at the way the characters of Seth and Evan talk about sex because of how crazy they are, especially Seth. My rating: 3 stars out of 4.

Safety Not Guaranteed
½

I liked this movie. It's got some really funny moments in the film, too (eg. "What if he's (Kenneth, the time travel guy) is a psycho and cuts me up and eats me?" "Then that'll make the story more interesting.") I also liked the performances from Mark Duplass and Aubrey Plaza. Their characters were quite likable. I also liked the performance by Jake Johnson as one of the reporters. His character was a jerk, but not only did he get funny dialogue to say, his character also learned to grow. My rating: 3 stars out of 4.

The Amazing Spider-Man

I really enjoyed this movie. The special effects in the movie are quite good, especially in the final action sequence where Spider-Man faces off against the Lizard. I also the liked the parts where Peter Parker was getting used to his powers and always breaking things by accident, which I found entertaining. The movie had a nice balance of comic relief and seriousness. As always, Stan Lee has an amusing little cameo. This is exceptionally good summer entertainment.

The Italian Job
½

I really enjoyed this movie a lot. I knowit's not a masterpiece or anything like hat, but the heist scenes were very well-crafted, I liked Seth Green as the tech expert, and it managed to keep my attention for approximately 2 hours. Unlike some action films, this movie doesn't over-stay its welcome by being more than 2.5 hours. Good for "The Italian Job".

The Family Stone
½

I'm sort of torn on my opinion of this movie. It has some well-directed scenes, but some scenes are so uncomfortable to watch that I cringed (eg. a dinner table scene where Sarah Jessica Parker digs herself deeper and deeper into a hole after she makes some unintentionally inappropriate comments about homosexuality.). I didn't hate "The Family Stone", but then again, I don't think I'd ever watch it again. I think I'll give it 2 stars out of 4.

The Darjeeling Limited

I like Wes Anderson. I was a fan of "Moonrise Kingdom" and loved "The Fantastic Mr. Fox". I find the camera-work in his movies to be quite good and I love his quirky, oddball sense of humor. This is why I was hoping I'd enjoy "The Darjeeling Limited". I'm sad to say that it's a bit of a disappointment.

It's got a great cast, with Adrien Brody, Owen Wilson, and Jason Schwartzman playing brothers. It's been a year since they've spoken to each other, having seen each other last at their father's funeral. They have reunited in order to get to know each other and learn to love and trust each other while on a train that's going across India.

Throughout the film, there are some really nice shots of India and I loved some of the camera shots in the film. There are some nice dramatic moments in the film, but throughout the film, I was wondering to myself: Is this film a comedy?

If "The Darjeeling Limited" isn't a comedy, then it's pretty interesting, if not a little weird, and it harbors some pretty good performances. If it is a comedy, it's still kind of interesting and weird and has good performances, but on the other hand, I guess it fails as a comedy. The purpose of a comedy is to make people laugh and I didn't really find myself laughing a whole lot. I think that it's sort of a bad sign when you can't tell what a movie's trying to be.

I'm not saying that I disliked the film. There were a couple of bizarre, quirky moments that I found amusing and I liked some of the scenery and camera-work. However, I wish that it was clearer on what it was trying to be: a comedy or a drama.

Brave
Brave(2012)

Ever since the mid 90s, Pixar and Disney have been releasing animated classics like "Toy Story", "Finding Nemo", "Up", and many other films. What's been great about them is that they have been entertaining for the children, but entertaining for the adults accompanying the kids, too. Now, Pixar and Disney have released another movie together. It's called "Brave" and while it has some funny moments and will definitely entertain kids, it doesn't quite strike me as the kind of movie that will equally entertain the adults.

The movie tells the story of Merida (voiced by Kelly Macdonald), a young Scottish princess. She's sick and tired of being trained by her mother (voiced by Emma Thompson) to be the perfect lady so she can marry an appropriate suitor. She instead wants to be free, riding on a horse and shooting arrows. But her mother will not listen.

So, to change her mother's mind, Merida visits an old witch to cast a spell that will change her mother. Oh, she changes her mother all right... into a bear!

When Merida finds out that she has only two days before her mother's a bear forever, Merida goes in a race against time to make things right before it's too late.

The animation in "Brave" is very well-done, as it always is in a Pixar film, especially with the scenery of Scotland. However, the story of the movie is fairly standard and unlike other Pixar classics like "Toy Story 3", it's really more of a movie for kids rather than a movie for kids AND adults.

Still, though, I found some of the supporting characters to be entertaining, the animation was very good, and kids will definitely enjoy it. Still, instead of being great, "Brave" just settles for being merely good and not great.

Mirror Mirror

I think that this is a really good movie for little kids. When I went to see it, a lot of the kids were laughing their heads off at a lot of the jokes. I laughed at some of the jokes and I liked the cool visuals, but I have to admit that this is not that great a movie. There is one gross scene where the feces of birds are smeared on the face of Julia Roberts as part of a spa treatment. Some other gross things happen to her. So, it will not win the Academy Award for Best Picture, but it is light, harmless entertainment that I am sure little kids will delight in viewing. If you are a parent taking your kid to see this movie, I do not think you will be squirming in your seat.

Seeking a Friend for the End of the World

This is a very well-made film. It's got good acting, good writing, and it is funny at times, but it was very depressing, even though I knew what was going to happen at the end of the film. Although, at the same time, it was a very sweet movie, in a melancholy sort of way. I should also note that I just love Steve Carell. He's one of my favourite actors. Nobody plays likable sadsack better than Steve Carell. I will give it a mild recommendation, but I should warn you: It's depressing.

Jeff Who Lives at Home

This is a very charming little indie picture. I am a huge fan of Jason Segel. He's one of the most likable actors working in film today, in my opinion, and his performance is very good in this film. Funny, sweet, charming, and short, "Jeff Who Lives At Home" is a film that I hope more people check out.

Men in Black III
½

I thought that this movie was very entertaining. There are some good laughs, it's got an interesting story, and there's also a touching moment near the end of the film. I especially enjoyed Josh Brolin as the young Agent K. His imitation of Tommy Lee Jones is spot-on.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted
½

I thought that this movie was pretty good. There were some good laughs, there are lots of colorful images, and it's all very cheerful. This is a fine piece of entertainment for the entire family to enjoy.

21 Jump Street
½

I think this movie is hilarious! Jonah Hill is one of my favorite comedic actors and actually, Channing Tatum is pretty funny in this film, too. Another actor who gives a funny performance in this film is Ice Cube. His character is angry and foul-mouthed, but hilarious. This is the funniest film of the year, my favorite film of 2012 so far, and one of the funniest films I have seen in a while. If you are looking for a fun time at the movies that is full of laughs, you should see "21 Jump Street".

The Hunger Games
½

This movie was really good. It had really good acting, an interesting story, and the director Gary Ross was excellent at building tension. I had not even read the books, but I still really enjoyed the movie. So, it does not matter if you have read the books or not. I think you will still really enjoy this film.

Killer Elite
Killer Elite(2011)
½

I was extremely disappointed by this movie. With this good a cast, I do ot know where the director went wrong. The action was not very exciting and the story didn't keep me interested, partly because I couldn't understand what the heck the actors were saying. I am baffled as to why Richard d Roeper gave this an A- and Roger Ebert gave it three out of four. This movie sucks. My rating: One and a half stars out of four.

Battleship
Battleship(2012)
½

I think that people aren't giving this movie nearly enough credit than it deserves. This is an entertaining film and way better than some other blockbusters I've seen in the past (eg. "Thor" and the last two Transformers films). The special effects are first-rate, it's got good comic relief, it's not extremely long, and most important of all, it entertained me. Don't listen to critics like Richard Roeper and Peter Travers, people who bashed this movie. This movie will provide you with a good time.

Rock of Ages
Rock of Ages(2012)

I found this movie to be much more entertaining than I thought it was going to be. Yes, the love story is a bit bland and it's all been done before, but what's really good about this movie are the well-staged musical numbers and the stand-out performances by Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, and especially Tom Cruise, who is very committed to the role of Stacee Jaxx. Look, it's not a great movie, but I found it to be quite entertaining and if you like the kind of music it plays (Foreigner, Journey, Twisted Sister, etc.), you'll probably enjoy this movie.

Snow White and the Huntsman
½

This movie was only okay. I wasn't really looking forward to seeing it and it was an okay movie, but I didn't love it. The whole look of the movie is really good, but the acting is mediocre (sometimes a bit overdone) and it's a little too long at 2 hours and 7 minutes. I didn't hate it, but I do not think I will be seeing it again.

This Means War

This wasn't a great movie, but I found that it delivered some good laughs and that it entertained me. I don't know about you, but that's good enough for me.

What to Expect When You're Expecting

This is not a very good movie. While I was watching the movie, my eyes weren't glazing over or anything like that, but it was not very good. The script is a hit and miss, most of the jokes being misses. Also, most of the characters are just cliches. All in all, the movie's watchable, but that does not mean that it's worth watching. My rating: 4 out of 10.

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen

I really enjoyed this film a lot. Kristin Scott Thomas was perfect in her role. She was delightfully vicious. I also liked the romance between Ewan MacGregor and Emily Blunt. I find that Emily Blunt is a talented actress and has a nice screen presence. I also liked the whole relationship between Blunt, MacGregor and Amr Waked, who played the sheik. I found that the whole movie worked very well. I think that this is definitely worth seeing.

A Thousand Words

This film was apparently on the shelf for four years. That's never a good sign. I don't like this movie very much. I didn't think it was very funny and I really didn't find it entertaining. It's a bit of a disappointment because Eddie Murphy is a good comedic actor, but he doesn't really have a lot of funny stuff to do. When I was watching this movie, I laughed not at Murphy, but at his assistant played by Clark Duke. He gets the best lines in the film. And while I did smile a few times near the end of the film when Murphy's character began to do good things, I am still going to tell you moviegoers to skip this movie.

From Paris with Love
½

I was very disappointed by this movie. When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I thought that it was going to be a hilarious, over-the-top action film that would be extremely entertaining. However, when I saw it, I didn't find myself laughing at it that much or enjoying it that much. John Travolta is fine in this, but he can't hold the movie together all by himself. I think that the main problem with this movie might have been the script or the direction. There was something off about this film. The film starts off rather slow and once the action starts, the film still isn't all that interesting. The movie was directed by Pierre Morel, who made the movie "Taken". Watch that instead of "From Paris With Love".

John Carter
John Carter(2012)

I have to say, I was kind of digging this movie for the first 45 minutes or so. Near the beginning of the movie, there was a funny moment between Taylor Kitsch and Bryan Cranston, there was some good action, and the story was kind of interesting. But then the film started to drag and this movie is 131 minutes! It's way too long. Still, I'll give it a mild recommendation. However, I don't think that this is a movie worth rushing out to the theaters to see. It might be better to check it out on TV or DVD.

Colombiana
Colombiana(2011)

I didn't really like this movie. I don't know entirely why I didn't enjoy it, but sometimes you don't like a movie just simply because you didn't enjoy it all that much. That being said, while the movie isn't very good, it has its pleasures (eg. a guy being stabbed with a toothbrush). Still, I wouldn't give this movie a recommendation. In some of the ads, it said that the movie was from the writers of "Taken". I'd advise you to check out "Taken" instead of "Colombiana".

The Sorcerer's Apprentice
½

I think that this was a very good fantasy movie. It had the right amount of comedy, the right amount of action and the right amount of fantasy to make it not ridiculous. In my opinion, this is a very under rated movie. The critics on the TV show At the Movies said rent it and skip it. Also, it's got 41% on the Tomato Meter for the Rotten Tomatoes critics. Don't listen to them. It's got good action and good performances by Nicolas Cage, Alfred Molina, Jay Baruchel and Tank. Tank's a dog. A funny dog. Oh, there was also an entertainer whom I liked. So, see Sorcerer's Apprentice.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

"Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows" has a few mildly entertaining scenes, a visually stunning chase scene through a forest involving gunfire, and a clever ending. However, I didn't find the story to be all that engaging and my mind tended to wander throughout the picture. It's not a terrible movie, but it's a mediocre one.

Austin Powers in Goldmember

I didn't really like this movie all that much. I thought that there were some pretty funny parts in this movie, but I don't this film worked entirely as a whole. I thought that there were too many gross-out gags, as well. My recommendation is that people watch the first Austin Powers film, "Austin Powers: International Man Of Mystery".

We Bought a Zoo

I did not love this movie, but I did not hate it, either. I liked the performances from Matt Damon as Benjamin Mee, Maggie Elizabeth Jones as Benjamin's daughter and Thomas Haden Church as Benjamin's brother. However, Colin Ford's performance as Benjamin's son was a bit over the top at times. Still, this is a movie worth seeing and I'm sure there are lots of people who will adore it.

The Darkest Hour

This movie is completely harmless, but that doesn't mean that it's very good. "The Darkest Hour" has bad acting, a poorly written script and mediocre special effects. It's not the worst movie I've ever seen and it's not the worst movie of 2011, but I still didn't enjoy it.

Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol

This is one of the better films I've seen this year. The action scenes are very well-crafted, the performances are good, and Simon Pegg provides very good comic relief. This is a very good action movie. I had a blast.

The Adventures of Tintin
½

This is a really good movie. The animation is dazzling, the performances are good, the action scenes are well-crafted and inventive, and it's very funny. This is a great movie for adults and kids, in my opinion. This is one of the very good final films of 2011.

The Muppets
The Muppets(2011)

This is one of the better movies of 2011. This film is funny, sweet, and it has some good musical numbers. I really like this movie a lot. In my opinion, this is a great film fro adults and for kids.

Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1

Honestly, my favourite parts of the movie were the wedding toast scene, the credits and a little tiny scene with Michael Sheen during the credits. Everything else wasn't very good. I didn't like the ending and I simply didn't have a good time while watching this movie. I'm sure that fans of Twilight will really love this movie, but I guess I'm not one of those people because I did not like this movie.

Real Steel
Real Steel(2011)
½

This isn't a great film, but it is a good movie. Hugh Jackman and Dakota Goyo had good chemistry. Speaking of which, Dakota Goyo seems like a pretty good young actor. The robot fighting scenes were entertaining, too. This is a fun film. I think that it's worth seeing.

North by Northwest

This is a good movie. Cary Grant is funny and charming in the lead role. There are also some good action sequences. This is a film directed by Alfred HItchcock that I think is worth seeing.

Moneyball
Moneyball(2011)

There are some laugh-out loud moments in this movie and some good performances from the actors. Jonah Hill, Brad Pitt and the actress who played Brad Pitt's daughter Kathryn Morris give good performances in this movie. However, I'm not a big fan of baseball, which is probably why I found some scenes in this movie a little boring.

The Karate Kid
½

This is a great movie. I thought that the plot was interesting and there are also some funny parts. I think that this is better than the 2010 remake with Jaden Smith. I think Ralph Macchio is a better actor than Jaden Smith. I think that the ending is too abrupt, but I still think it's a movie worth seeing.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

This is a good movie. It has good action and it's funny. It's better than the second Indiana Jones film, ``Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom''. Steven Spielberg knows how to make an action movie.

The Rocketeer

There are a couple of mildly entertaining action scenes, but I think that Joe Johnston's other film ``Captain America: The First Avenger'' is much better. I just got tired of watching this movie after a while. I don't think that this is a movie worth seeing.

The Smurfs
The Smurfs(2011)

This is a terrible movie. If you are a fan of the Smurfs or enjoy bad puns and watching Hank Azaria get injured, you will probably enjoy this movie. However, if you don't like bad puns, the Smurfs or watching Hank Azaria get injured, you probably will not like this movie. There are hardly any laughs and when the film tries to be sweet and touching, it just comes across as corny.

Bringing Up Baby

This was an annoying movie. There were a couple of mildly funny parts, but I still didn't like the movie all that much.

As Good as It Gets
½

I liked this movie. Jack Nicholson and Greg Kinnear give good performances, especially Nicholson. I also liked the dog in the film. It was a cute dog.

Winnie the Pooh

This is a joyful, short and visually stunning animated film. It's also funny. In my opinion, it is a good movie for both kids and adults. The trailer looked terrible, but it's actually a good movie.

Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D

There are a couple of good things about this movie. Ricky Gervais voices a talking robot dog named Argonaut and he gets to say a few funny lines. Also, the special effects are good in a silly, but cool sort of way. However, a lot of the jokes aren't very funny. Also, I know family time is important, but the movie explains this in a lame way. So, I don't think it's a movie worth seeing.

The Philadelphia Story
½

This is a good movie. Not a great movie, but a good movie. James Stewart, Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn give fine performances in this movie. There are also some funny parts. I think that this is a movie that's worth seeing.

To Catch a Thief
½

This was a really good Hitchcock film. Cary Grant is a very good actor. I also enjoyed the mystery of who really was the cat burglar. I enjoyed this movie a lot. It was funny, romantic and suspenseful.

Ocean's Thirteen

This is a weak movie. ``Ocean's Eleven'' was a really good movie. ``Ocean's Twelve'' was not as good as the first one, but it was okay. ``Ocean's Thirteen'' isn't as good as ``Ocean's Eleven'' or ``Ocean's Twelve''. The movie opens well. However, it gets way too complicated when the heist team is talking about how they're going to rob Al Pacino's character. Also, it seemed to just drag on for a while. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed some parts of the movie. I thought the scene where George Clooney was crying while watching ``Oprah''. Still, I don't think this is worth seeing.

Killers
Killers(2010)

This wasn't a great movie, but it wasn't a bad movie, either. I was entertained. It's not worth rushing out to the theaters to see, but if it came on TV one night, it's not something so terrible that you change the channel in a second.

Serendipity
Serendipity(2001)
½

This isn't the best romantic comedy ever made, but it's still an enjoyable movie. There are some funny scenes, the plot is interesting and I enjoyed the scenes where John Cusack and Kate Beckinsale were looking for each other. If you are a fan of romantic comedies, you will probably enjoy ``Serendipity''.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes
½

I enjoyed this film. Andy Serkis gives a good motion capture performance as Caesar. There was a lot of emotion in his character. There are also some cool shots in the movie of chimpanzees swinging around on several different objects. The section in the film where Caesar is staying with James Franco's character and John Lithgow's character was interesting. I also enjoyed the scenes with the chimpanzees running around San Francisco. This is not the best movie ever made or the best movie of the summer or the best movie of 2011. However, I still liked it and I am recommending it.

Ocean's Twelve

I was disappointed by this movie. It wasn't nearly as good as the first film. The first film, ``Ocean's Eleven'', was a lot more fun and lighter than ``Ocean's Twelve''. The movie also seemed to drag a little near the end. There are some funny parts, some clever parts and some good performances in ``Ocean's Twelve''. It's not a bad movie. It's just not a great movie.

Gulliver's Travels
½

This isn't a very good movie. There are a couple of chuckles, but the humor seemed a bit awkward and I didn't really laugh a lot. Kids might enjoy it, but I didn't. There's also a terrible musical number near the end.

Ocean's Eleven
½

I really liked this movie. It was interesting and funny. I liked the performances, too. I thought George Clooney was good, Brad Pitt was good and Matt Damon was good.

Lottery Ticket

To be honest, Lottery Ticket isn't a great movie. I mean, it's not horrible or anything. It's just not great. I found some of the jokes just not funny and that's basically it. I mean, in a comedy, you have to have very funny jokes. Here, you just have chuckles and stuff like that. However, I did kind of like the story and the scenes with Bow Wow and the local criminal. This is only a film that's worth seeing on TV or something. I honestly would not see it again. I'd rather see Scott Pilgrim VS the World a third time.

Sherlock Holmes

This was really not a good film at all. It was boring, stupid and not very action packed. The best part was an action scene that lasted only 9 or 10 minutes. Also, there was one scene with an explosion that was filmed very well. Other than that, everything else was not good. I don't have anything to say about Robert Downey Jr. Jude Law was just Jude Law, it was hard to tell whose side Rachel McAdams was on, I thought the bad guy was dead, but he really wasn't (stupid), the mystery was boring and it lasted way too long. It was two hours and eight minutes of almost pure boredom. One thing I forgot to mention was how Sherlock Holmes would spend almost a minute calculating how he would beat a guy up, when it just took him 5 seconds to punch a guy, kick him and win the fight. It was totally distracting and unnecessary. I do not suggest this movie to anyone.

Hannah Montana: The Movie
½

This isn't a good movie. There are maybe some mild chuckles, but the gags are mostly stupid. There are some good lessons and the plot is okay and Miley Cyrus does have her moments, but altogether it's not a very good movie. Fans of MIley Cyrus and her show will like it, but if you're not a fan of Miley Cyrus or her show, you should skip this movie.

Captain America: The First Avenger

I enjoyed this movie. It had good action and good performances from people such as Stanely Tucci, Tommy Lee Jones and Dominic Cooper. I also liked the ending. I think one problem with the movie were the scenes where Hugo Weaving's character was planning his plot to destroy the world. They weren't the most interesting scenes in the film. Still, I think that it's a good comic book film that I think is worth seeing. Also, people who are going to see the movie, stay for the end of the credits. When I went to see the movie, they showed a trailer for ``The Avengers'' at the end of the credits.

Date Night
Date Night(2010)

I'm not surprised that this movie was awesome. When I saw the preview for the first time, I knew for sure that I would go see the movie. Steve Carrel is extremely funny on The Office, funny in Evan Almighty and Over the Hedge and I'd seen Tina Fey on 30 Rock and in Baby Mama. They're both pretty funny people. Not only were they funny, they also had great chemistry. Also, the scenes with Mark Wahlberg as the shirtless client of Tina Fey were just hysterical. Also, there was one really good action scene where Steve Carrel and Tina Fey crash into a taxi and are being chased by the police. They escape, but the taxi comes along for the ride with the driver still in the taxi. I know, it's awesome. I think this is a film that people should check out on the big screen and if you can't catch it on the big screen, go ahead and rent it. It won't make that big a difference.

Just Go with It
½

This was a really good movie in my opinion. I think that this site is being too hard on this movie. 18%!? Come on, that's way too harsh! I really thought this was a good movie. In fact, it may be Adam Sandler's best movie. It was funny and it was well done, too. The chemistry between Jennifer Anniston and Adam Sandler was believable. Plus, the supporting comic characters were funny, too. Also, Brooklyn Decker was pretty as the love interest of Adam Sandler. The good thing about her was not only her looks, but that she was not a shrew in the end, she was kind and smart, too. For fans of Adam Sandler movies, this is something I would recommend.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2
½

This was a really good movie. The acting was good, the special effects were good, the action was good and the movie was sometimes funny. This was a really good final installment in the Harry Potter film series. There was only one thing I didn't like in the movie. Dramatic music was played when it shouldn't have been played. However, that's just one little thing. Otherwise, it's a great movie that I think fans of the books and movies will really like.

Arthur
Arthur(2011)

Oi! This movie sucks! There was only one funny part in the movie and it comes near the end of the movie when there is a minute or so left. Everything else sucked. Russell Brand was not funny as the main character. He was just an idiot. Ads describe his character as ``the lovable playboy''. No, he's not lovable. He is annoying, unlikable and stupid. Don't see this movie.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

I hated this movie. It was boring, too long and I also thought Tilda Swinton was very creepy. I liked it the first time I saw it, but then I saw it a second time. The second time, I didn't even finish watching it because it was so boring. The best part was when the bad guys attacked the house in the beginning. People might think this is a crime against humanity, but I still won't like this movie.

Zookeeper
Zookeeper(2011)

This isn't a very good movie. There are some funny parts, but there aren't enough to save the movie. Also, at one point in the movie, Kevin James's character becomes a big jerk and it wasn't fun to see him play a jerk. I think that some people will really like this movie, but I didn't like it.

E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial

It's not my favourite movie of all time, but it's a really good movie. I can see why critics love it so much. I think that the actor who played the kid Elliot, Henry Thomas, was good. I think that E.T. was a likable character, too. This is a good movie about a boy who makes a friend who is an extra-terrestrial.

Ponyo
Ponyo(2009)
½

This is a strange movie. It's good, but not great. I think that the performances by Frankie Jonas and Noah Cyrus were a bit over the top with their voice performances. Still, I can see why people think that Hayao Miyazaki is such a respected animated film-maker. He does a great job with the animation in this movie and he does have a lot of creativity. So, if you are a fan of animated movies and creativity, you will probably like ``Ponyo''.

The Bounty Hunter
½

In 2004, Andy Tennant released a romantic comedy called Hitch. It starred Will Smith, Eva Mendes and Kevin James. It was a pretty funny movie. My mom hated the ending, but I honestly didn't see anything wrong with the ending. In 2010, he made the romantic comedy Bounty Hunter, starring Gerard Butler and Jennifer Anniston. This was a pretty enjoyable film. People said that Gerard Butler was unlikable and didn't show his sweeter side at all. I disagree. I think he did come to be a nice person and that at some points he was unlikable, but he was good at being a jerk. I thought at some points he was kind of funny. He breaks into Jennifer Anniston's house, deletes all these TV episodes, leaves chips on her bed, wipes his mouth on the pillow, drops a toothbrush in a toilet and puts it back, walks into the living room with muddy shoes and leaves a huge mud streak on the carpet and takes a piece of fruit. It doesn't sound funny, but when you see it, it's kind of funny. Critics described it as a movie right up against the R-rating because of the violence. There wasn't even that much violence in it. There's only 2 scenes with violence and they don't even last a minute. I thought that the violence was going to be grisly, bloody and brutal. Don't be fooled by the poster. Gerard Butler doesn't get lots of blood on his shirt. It's not that violent a film. I think that it's not a great film, but it's pretty entertaining. The best part of the film was this one guy who works at the same newspaper company as Jennifer Anniston and thinks that he has some sort of relationship with her because she kissed him at a Christmas party. I thought he was really funny and likable. Go out and see the film.

Thor
Thor(2011)

This is only an okay movie. I would not see it again. It could have been a lot better. It was not necessary for it to be in 3D. That was not a big problem, though. The problem with this movie was that the parts on Thor's planet were so cheesy. The parts on Earth were good, though. Still, I've seen better Marvel movies.

Monte Carlo
Monte Carlo(2011)
½

This is a good movie. It's not fantastic, but it's entertaining. I think that Selena Gomez, Katie Cassidy and Leighton Meester give good performances in this movie. I liked the music that they used in this one where people are all over the place looking for something. I think that tween girls who are fans of Selena Gomez, beautiful scenery and romance will adore ``Monte Carlo''.

Mulan
Mulan(1998)

This movie is okay. It's not my favourite Disney movie. I liked Eddie Murphy as Mushu the dragon. He was good. However, I didn't laugh at all the jokes in this movie. Also, I just wasn't as entertained as I am when I'm watching a Disney-Pixar movie. Still, the story was okay, I guess and there was a really cool shot in this movie. It's where the bad guys are on horses and are coming towards the bad guys really quickly on a mountain. It's a really cool shot. I was not a fan of the songs, either. I think a lot of people would enjoy this movie. I guess this is the kind of movie I just don't love.

Transformers
Transformers(2007)

Wow, this movie kicks butt! Seriously, this movie is awesome. The action scenes are so well done in this film. The explosions, the gunfire, the chases, the fights, you've got everything that you need in an action movie here! Plus, this is one of the few action movies that has humor that is worth laughing at. The parents of the main character are so wacky, but they're so hysterical. This is a movie worth seeing.

Larry Crowne
Larry Crowne(2011)

I really liked this movie. I think Tom Hanks is a really good actor. I loved him in Forrest Gump. He does a really good job in this movie. There is one scene in this movie where he is moving away from his house and leaving his neighbors behind. As he's driving away, you can see how sad he is about leaving the neighborhood he was living in. His character, Larry Crowne, was also just so likable and such a good worker. Julia Roberts was a bit unpleasant in the beginning of the movie, but as the movie went on, she became more likable. I also thought that this movie was funny. Tom Hanks did a good job with this movie. He directed the movie, co-wrote the script with Nia Vardalos, produced the movie and starred in it. Good for him. So, I think ``Larry Crowne'' is worths seeing.

Cars
Cars(2006)

This was a pretty good movie. It's not the best movie ever made and it's not the best film from Pixar, but it's still worth seeing. I think that this is a good movie for kids and adults. I think that Owen Wilson's character was a big jerk for a bit too long in the movie, but his character becomes nicer as the movie goes on, which I liked. I also enjoyed the character Mater, who is voiced by Larry the Cable Guy. He was just such a nut and he was funny, too. The animation was good, too. Pixar did a good job with this movie and like I said before, it's worth seeing.

Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo(2003)

This is a really good movie. I think that the writing in the Pixar films such as ``Up'' or ``Toy Story 3'' is great and the writing in this Pixar feature film is great, too. The characters in these movies are always so creative and interesting and usually quite funny. I think that the story is interesting and the movie has a nice blend of adventure and comedy. In my opinion, this is a great movie for kids and adults.

Transformers: Dark of the Moon

``Transformers: Dark Of the Moon'' is not a bad movie. It's not a great movie, either. It is not as good as the first Transformers film, but it's a bit better than the second Transformers film. The director Michael Bay needs to learn make shorter movies. This movie is 2 hours and 34 minutes. That is extremely long, but still, I was entertained at times. I laughed at the funny parts, the special effects were good and some of the action was cool. However, the last action scene goes on for a little too long. Also, it was kind of hard to understand what people were saying at times because they were busy screaming over the noise explosions and gunfire. Plus, I had a bit of a hard time focusing on the plot at times because my mind would wander and then I would not always understand what was happening. Also, I would not always understand what was happening because I would be too busy asking questions about things I was confused about and I would miss things in the movie. Still, I don't think that this is a bad movie. If I were to letter grade this movie, I would give it a B-. If I were to rate it out of four, I would give it two and a half. If you want to see a really long movie with lots of action, you should definitely check out ``Transformers: Dark Of the Moon''.

Up
Up(2009)

I love this movie. It is one of my favourite films. I think that it is really funny and touching. There is one scene in this movie where there is no talking. It's just animation and music. It is one of the best scenes in the movie. Also, there are two characters in this movie named Russell and Dug. They are really funny characters. If you want to see a great Pixar film, you should see ``Up''.

Cars 2
Cars 2(2011)
½

This is not the best Pixar animated feature film. It does not live up to the standards of great films like ``Up'' or ``Toy Story 3'', but it's still a pretty good movie. I thought Larry the Cable Guy was funny as Tow Mater and there was a good moral spoken in the movie, ``No fight is more important than friendship.'' Also, there was good action in the film. Plus, the animation was fantastic. In the movie, the cars are racing in Italy and it's so beautifully animated. Also, the story was never boring. So, if you are looking for an animated movie with good action, a story that is never boring, good comedy and beautiful animation, you should ``Cars 2''. I was able to enjoy this movie without seeing the first film, so it's okay if you see this before seeing the first film.

Unknown
Unknown(2011)

This was not an excellent film. It was good, but not excellent. I think LIam Neeson's other action flick ``Taken'' was better than this movie. This is still worth seeing, but I don't think it's as good as ``Taken''. I disagree with the Toronto Star's opinion on it. They gave it a two and a half out of four. I would give this movie a solid three out of four. Liam Neeson is a good actor and this movie had some good scenes of action and suspense. So, it wouldn't hurt to see this movie if you're in the mood for an action flick.

The Adjustment Bureau
½

This was an excellent movie. Matt Damon is a really good actor. He does a great job in this movie. The movie was romantic, exciting and even funny! This is a movie that I think is definitely worth seeing. If you want to see a good movie with Matt Damon, ``The Adjustment Bureau should be one of your options.

Rango
Rango(2011)
½

I really liked this movie. When I first saw the preview for it, I thought it looked terrible. But when I saw that ``Rango'' had gotten such good reviews, I decided that I wanted to see it. Boy, it was a good decision of mine to go see this movie. It was really funny! Don't be turned off the movie by the previews. Those previews sucked. However, the movie did not suck. So, the verdict is: See ``Rango''.

Midnight in Paris
½

This is such a great film. Owen Wilson is fantastic in this movie. He is so funny as the geeky guy who wants to be an author. I love the scene where he first walks around Paris at midnight and how Owen Wilson is just so confused at what's happening. He's seeing people like F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway. I just enjoyed this movie so much. The script was so clever and funny.

Red Riding Hood

I think that quite a few people were hard on this movie. Richard Roeper gave it a D-, Roger Ebert gave it one out of four, one paper gave it one and a half out of four and this site has given it 12% on the TomatoMeter. I think this movie was not as good as Catherine Hardwicke's other movie, ``Twilight''. However, I think that this is not a terrible movie. I have to admit, I did want to find out who the wolf was and the action wasn't too bad. So, if you are a fan of romance and werewolves and enjoy watching Gary Oldman play a nutjob, see ``Red Riding Hood''.

2 Fast 2 Furious

This was a disappointing movie. I had seen an ad for it and I thought that it looked pretty awesome. Some parts of the movie are entertaining, but quite frankly, I was kind of bored with the movie. A couple of weeks before watching this movie, I saw ``Fast Five'' and it was pretty good. This is not as good as ``Fast Five''. The story in ``Fast Five'' was not too great, but it was very entertaining with the action scenes and some of its comedy. The action in this movie was not very good and there was hardly any comedy. Like I said at the beginning of this review, this was a disappointing movie. I do not think it's worth seeing.

The Art of Getting By
½

I think that parts of this movie were kind of sad. However, some parts of this movie were funny. I think that Freddie Highmore is a pretty good young actor from what I've seen him do in some of the other movies I've seen and he does a good job in ``The Art Of Getting By''. I think that as a film buff, it was an interesting movie for me to see. It was a flawed film, but it was still worth seeing. If you are the kind of person who loves movies, you probably will enjoy ``The Art Of Getting By''. However, if you are the kind of person who just goes to the movies every so often, you probably won't like this movie.

Mr. Popper's Penguins
½

This movie was better than the first preview I saw for it when I went to see ``Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules''. I thought that it looked really lame, especially when they played ``Ice Ice Baby'' when they were dancing. However, when I went to see ``X-Men: First Class'', I saw a second preview for it that was slightly better. They still showed the dancing to ``Ice Ice Baby'' and I didn't laugh, but still, it looked not bad. So, I decided that I would go see ``Mr. Popper's Penguins''. This is something I did. Jim Carrey has not made a major film in about 2 years. His last big movie was ``Yes Man'' and that wasn't a great movie. This is better than ``Yes Man'', in my opinion. I thought the penguins were cute and Jim Carrey was funny. I think that if you're a kid, you will really like this movie a lot. If you are an adult, you might enjoy it. You probably won't like it as much as your kid does, but you might be entertained by it.

Green Lantern
½

I was entertained by this film. I do not think that it is a great movie. I think that it is a good movie. I think that most critics were hard on this movie, especially this site. I think 23% is a harsh rating. I thought that Ryan Reynolds was pretty good in this movie. At times, I have to say, my mind drifted just a little, but most of the time, I was paying attention. The scene where Ryan Reynolds fights the Parallax was a little boring, especially when he took the fight into outer space. Also, this movie does not need to be in 3D. Actually, most blockbusters do not have to be in 3D. Really, it's just a reason to charge you more money. So, this is not the best film of the year, of all time or of the summer, but it is still an entertaining action film that I would recommend to fans of the Green Lantern comics and of comic book movies.

The Next Three Days

This was not as good as I thought it was going to be. Judging by the preview, I thought that it was going to be a real action movie. It turns out that I was wrong. This was not an action movie really. It was a really more of a suspense film. The suspense was not bad in this movie. However, I wish there was more action. All the action they really had was a couple of gunshots. That is it basically. The rest of the exciting stuff was suspense. So, did I regret seeing this movie? No. Is it one of my favourite movies? Heck no. But I think that this is worth seeing if you enjoy suspense. Also, Liam Neeson gives a good performance, even though he is only on screen for 3 or 4 minutes.

Old School
Old School(2003)

This is a really funny movie. This is definitely worth seeing if you want to laugh a lot. Will Ferrell is hysterical in this movie. He's ridiculous, but hysterical. This might be one of Will Ferrell's best movies. Once again, I say that this is definitely worth seeing.

Super 8
Super 8(2011)

This is an excellent movie. It is the best movie of 2011 so far. I love it. The child actors in this movie are fantastic, the suspense is fantastic and the special effects are great. J.J. Abrams did a great job with this movie. If you want to see a great movie, you should see ``Super 8''.

X-Men: First Class
½

This was an excellent movie. It is one of the best movies of the year, in my opinion. The action is great and so is the acting. Also, at times, it can be funny. This is my favourite X-Men film. If you are a big fan of comic books and the X-Men, you should definitely check out ``X-Men: First Class''.

Kung Fu Panda 2

This was a great movie. I thought that it turned out to be a great sequel and Jack Black still does a great job as the panda protagonist Po. Gary Oldman does a fine job as the evil peacock Lord Shen. If you enjoyed the first Kung Fu Panda movie, you will probably enjoy this movie a lot.

Fast Five
Fast Five(2011)
½

This is not Oscar material. I am certain about that. However, this is definitely an entertaining movie. This was a very fun movie. The action in this movie was pretty cool. The acting was not too great and the story wasn't the most interesting story ever, but this movie isn't trying to be a movie with a great story and great acting. This is trying to be a movie with great action that will entertain movie-goers. Well, they accomplish that mission. If you are in the mood for an entertaining action film, I would recommend ``Fast Five''.

Jumping the Broom

I really enjoyed this movie a lot. I think that it was a fun, well-done comedy about a wedding. I like this one scene where Loretta Devine is saying a blessing where she's insulting this rich girl's family that her son is going to marry. One person says, ``That was not a blessing.'' She says it is a blessing and the guy next to her says, ``If that was a blessing, you're going to hell.'' I thought it was funny how Loretta Devine gets all mad that she gets a texted invite to meet her son's fiancee's family. If you want to see a fun, well-done wedding comedy, you should check out ``Jumping the Broom''.

Something Borrowed
½

This was an enjoyable movie. I think that the critics were kind of hard on it. It's not my favourite movie, but I still thought that it was entertaining. Kate Hudson was unlikable, but she wasn't a big problem. I think that John Krasinski was pretty funny in this movie. If you are in the mood for a good comedy, you should check out ``Something Borrowed''.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1

This is a really good movie. I have never seen a movie divided into two parts before. I think that it was kind of interesting to see a movie divided into two parts and I thought the way it ended was kind of interesting. This is not my favourite Harry Potter film, but I still really enjoyed it. It was funny and filled with action. If you are a fan of the books and films, you should check out ``Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1''.

Prom
Prom(2011)

This is a fun movie. I thought that the supporting characters in this movie were really entertaining. Also, this is a movie directed by Joe Nussbaum, the director of a terrible movie called ``Sleepover''. He did make ``Sydney White'', but still, ``Sleepover'' sucked. I think over the years, Joe Nussbaum has probably learned how to make an entertaining movie ever since ``Sleepover''. So, if you want to have just a fun time, go and see ``Prom''.

Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs Evil

This movie was actually really funny. When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I thought it looked terrible. I didn't laugh once. However, I saw the movie and I have to say, I really liked it! Bill Hader and Amy Poehler were very funny as Hansel and Gretel. Also, Patrick Warburton was funny as The BIg Bad Wolf. This is a funny animated movie that people should check out in my opinion.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
½

I love this movie. This is my favourite Harry Potter film so far. I think that it's funny, romantic, intense and dark. The actors in this movie all do a great job, in my opinion. Plus, there are some really cool camera shots in this movie and some beautiful scenery. So, if you love romance, comedy, action, cool camera shots and beautiful scenery and you're a fan of Harry Potter, you should check out the movie version of ``Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince''.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

This was a really good movie. I think that so far, all the Harry Potter movies are good. I think that the special effects are amazing, the acting is good and the plot is always interesting. I also think that the books are worth reading. Someone who was hard on this movie was the critic Roger Ebert. He only gave this movie two and a half out of four. In my opinion, that's harsh. I would give this movie a three out of four. That's just my opinion, though.

Rio
Rio(2011)

This was a really good movie. When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I thought it looked terrible. When I saw another trailer for it, I still thought it looked terrible. Then, I saw a slightly different trailer for it. Guess what? I still thought it looked terrible. Yet, I heard that it had gotten good reviews, so I decided that I wanted to go and see it. So, I went to see it and I really enjoyed it. I thought that some of the humor was not for my taste, but some of the humor was really funny, in my opinion. I also thought the animation was really well done. This is an animated film that I think you readers should check out.

The Gruffalo
The Gruffalo(2009)

This was a really cute movie. The mouse in the movie that tells tall tales about the Gruffalo is very cute and it was funny, too. It was nominated for an Oscar. I think it deserved to be nominated, but it wasn't as well made as the movie that won for Best Animated Short Film, ``The Lost Thing''. Still, this was a really good movie and I think people should see it.

Source Code
Source Code(2011)
½

This is an excellent movie. Jake Gylenhall gives a great performance in this movie and so does Michelle Monaghan. The suspense is well done, too. The critics who said that this movie was good were correct (Richard Roeper, Roger Ebert, The Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail). If you want to see a movie with a cool concept and good performances, you should see ``Source Code''.

Hop
Hop(2011)

This is only an okay movie. I have to say that Russell Brand and James Marsden were not the most likable protagonists. I did like the villain Carlos, who is voiced by Hank Azaria. He was funny, as Hank Azaria usually is. This probably isn't the best movie for pre-teens, teenagers or grown ups, but if you are a kid that is 5 or 6 years old, you will probably like this movie a lot.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
½

This was my least favourite Harry Potter film. It is my least favourite Harry Potter film because too many details from the book were changed in the movie. Still, I think that the action was exciting, the special effects were cool and the comic relief worked. However, a better Harry Potter film is ``Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone'', the first film.

Forrest Gump
Forrest Gump(1994)

This is one of my favourite movies. I loved it. Tom Hanks is amazing as Forrest Gump. He deserved an Oscar for his performance. He was funny, sweet and interesting. Some parts of the movie were sad, but they were done really well. The scene where he is in Vietnam is done really well. The movie has a good line, too. ``Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get.''

The Lion King

This wasn't my favourite animated movie, but it wasn't my least favourite animated movie, either. I think that the supporting characters like Timone (Nathan Lane) were good. They were funny and likable. However, I didn't like the songs too much. If I were to rewatch an animated movie, ``The Lion King'' wouldn't be my first choice, but it wouldn't be my last choice, either. So, see ``The Lion King''.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules

This was a really good movie. I thought it was funny. If you are a kid, you will probably really like this movie a lot. If you are an adult, you might like it, too, believe it or not. The first film was good, too. All the books were entertaining, too. So, if you're looking for a good live-action comedy that both kids and adults might enjoy, you might want to check out ``Diary Of A Wimpy Kid'' first and then ``Diary Of A Wimpy Kid 2: Rodrick Rules''.

Paul
Paul(2011)

This was a funny movie. Seth Rogen was good as the title character. I mean, it's not the best comedy that I've ever seen, but I still liked it. I laughed. That is a good sign when you are watching a comedy. If you want to see a movie with aliens, agents and funny dialogue, this is a movie you might want to see. Might I just warn you readers that there is a lot of swearing in this movie. If you are not comfortable with a lot of swearing, you might not want to see ``Paul''.

Mars Needs Moms

This was a really good movie. When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I thought it looked terrible. A few months later, I watched a movie clip of it online and I still wasn't convinced that it was a good movie. Finally, when there were hardly any movies left for me to go see, I decide to risk seeing ``Mars Needs Moms'' and I was pleasantly surprised. The action was entertaining and there were some funny parts. I also got past the freaky looking animation. So, if you are the mood for a good animated movie with a good message, see ``Mars Needs Moms''.

Beastly
Beastly(2011)
½

I think that people were hard on this movie. Rottentomatoes, Richard Roeper and The Toronto Star, this means you. I mean, this movie isn't great and I don't think it was trying to win an Oscar or anything, but it was enjoyable. I laughed and I thought that the romance wasn't terrible. So, if you're in the mood for a quick romance (the movie is only 88 minutes long), check out ``Beastly''.

Frequency
Frequency(2000)

I think that this is a great movie. It was very suspenseful. Also, I thought it was cool how one guy was communicating with his dad who was in the past and how he saves his dad's life. However, when his dad's life is saved, his mom is murdered and they try and prevent that. If you are in the mood for a good suspenseful movie, you should check out ``Frequency''.

Battle: Los Angeles

It sure isn't the best movie I've ever seen, but I still think that it's not terrible. The action was pretty darn good and the acting wasn't terrible, either. I disagree with Roger Ebert's opinion on this movie. He gave it only half a star! Come on, Roger! Be nice! In my opinion, if you readers want to see a good action movie, check out ``Battle: Los Angeles''.

Stand by Me
Stand by Me(1986)

This was an amazing movie. I thought it was funny, exciting and touching. This is a great film for young people to see. There was a lot of swearing and it was a bit shocking to hear 12-year olds say some pretty bad swear words. Still, I really liked this movie and I think it's worth seeing, of course.

Orange County
½

This was a funny movie, but it was not a great movie. It was good, though. Not great. Jack Black was funny in this movie. Also, the supporting characters were funny. If you want to see a good comedy, go rent ``Orange County''. Also, if you want to see a good movie with Jack Black, go rent ``Orange County''. If you want to see another good movie with Jack Black, also go rent ``School Of Rock''.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

This was a pretty good movie. However, I have to admit that the book was better. Still, this is a great movie. I think that people should read the book before seeing the movie or they might not like the movie. A long time ago, I saw this movie before reading the book and I didn't like it. However, I've now read the book and seen the movie and I like the movie. So, ``Harry Potter and the Prisoner Of Azkaban'' is worth seeing.

Gnomeo and Juliet

This movie is not as bad as it looks. It is actually okay. I actually laughed at some of the jokes. This is something that I think is worth seeing if you want to see a fun and short movie. I mean, it's not the best movie that I've ever seen, but this movie isn't trying to win an Oscar. I don't think so, at least.

The Bourne Identity

This was a great action thriller. Matt Damon is a pretty good actor in my opinion. I must say, this was better than the second film The Bourne Supremacy. In the sequel, the film wasn't as interesting. There was lots of talking and the talk was not interesting. This film has quite a lot of talking, but here's what's different. It's interesting. However, Bourne Supremacy had a better action packed ending. This film didn't. Other than that, though. It was pretty good.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

This was a great movie! I really liked it and I really liked the book, too. This is a movie that I think is worth seeing. I also think that the book is worth reading. What I liked about it was that it was funny, suspenseful and the special effects were kind of cool. The actor who plays Hagrid is amazing and I also liked the character Dobby. He was funny. So, the verdict is: See ``Harry Potter and the Chamber Of Secrets''.

Knocked Up
Knocked Up(2007)

This is a great movie. Seth Rogen is so funny in this movie! The other people in this movie that were funny were Paul Rudd, Jason Segel, Jonah Hill, Martin Starr and Jay Baruhel. This is a movie that I definitely think is worth seeing. Also, there is a cute baby at the end of the movie. If you want to see a really funny movie, this is something I think is definitely something you should see.

I Am Number Four

This was a really good movie. People were really hard on this movie. This site gave it 28%, Roger Ebert gave it one and a half out of four, The Globe and Mail gave it two out of four and The Toronto Star gave it one and a half out of four. People, stop being so hard on this movie! I laughed, I even slightly yelled because one part was surprising. Also, the action was pretty entertaining. Also, at the beginning, there was some great music to build up the suspense. This is not a bad movie. I think it's worth seeing.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

I really enjoyed the book of this movie. I think that the book was better than the movie, however. But, I still did enjoy the movie. I think the actors Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Robbie Coltrane and every other actor in the film did a great job in this film. The special effects were cool, too. This is a film that I think is worth seeing. I would read the book first.

Sleepover
Sleepover(2004)

This was a very, very, very, very weak movie. I did not laugh out loud once during the whole movie. That's not a good sign because this movie is supposed to be a comedy! Also, why are a bunch of teenagers going out for a scavenger hunt? Isn't that an activity for 6-year olds at a birthday party? Plus, why the heck is Steve Carrel in this movie? This guy obviously didn't know what he was thinking when he signed up to be in this movie. Ridiculous!

Clueless
Clueless(1995)

This was a really entertaining movie. I thought it was really funny. Yes, it might look a little stupid in the trailer to some people, but I have to tell you skeptics something: It's not very stupid. It's actually really entertaining. If you ever want to have a good time, watch a movie like Clueless.

The Dilemma
The Dilemma(2011)
½

I think that most people were hard on this movie. The Toronto Star gave it one and a half out of four. The Globe and Mail gave it one out of four. I disagree with both of those opinions. I would give this movie three out of four. In my opinion, I think Vince Vaughn gave a good performance. I also liked Channing Tatum. He was funny in this movie. This is a movie that I think is worth seeing. I laughed at it. That's good with a comedy.

The Green Hornet

This was a really good movie. Seth Rogen was pretty funny in this movie. One of the funniest scenes, however, did not include him. It included James Franco and Christoph Waltz. James Franco plays a meth dealer that Christoph Waltz blows up. James Franco just tears Christoph Waltz apart with his words in that scene. It is pretty funny. The action was not bad, either. This is an under-rated movie. This is a movie that I think is worth seeing.

I Am David
I Am David(2004)

I will admit that watching this movie was easier than reading the book. It was shorter, too. However, that does not mean that this is a good movie. It is bad. It has bad acting and it is not exciting. Also, they had dumb humor. There was one scene where a guy tries speaking to David in Italian, because he thinks David can't speak English. He tries asking for help, but says, ``My wine shop needs steak. Glug glug glug glug, ding!'' Two words on that scene: Epic failure. Like I said before, the action is stupid. The action is supposed to be exciting. Yet, this ``action'' lasts only 10 seconds. That is not good action. There was only one remotely good scene where David's friend dies. It was a reasonably well done scene. That did not save the movie. I hated the book. It was boring. Paul Feig, you did good work with Freaks and Geeks, but you did a bad job with I Am David. I guess it's not your fault, though. You didn't write the book.

It's Complicated

This is a fantastic movie. It's very funny. Alec Baldwin is the funniest character in the movie. He says and does some of the most ridiculous, yet funniest, things! Steve Martin was pretty funny, too. Meryl Streep didn't do the kind of comedy Alec Baldwin did, but she did a good job in this film, too. I also liked the guy who was going to marry one of Meryl Streep's daughters. He was played by John Krasinski, probably better known as Jim from the TV show ``The Office''. He was funny. This is probably my favourite Nancy Myers movie.

Anchorman - The Legend Of Ron Burgundy

Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy is a very funny movie. There are so many people in this film: Vince Vaughn, Paul Rudd, Fred Willard, Seth Rogen, Steve Carrel, Ben Stiller, Luke Wilson, Tim Robbins, David Koechner, Will Ferrell, Danny Trejo, Jack Black and Christina Applegate. There is one scene where most of these people I just mentioned get into a giant fight with weapons like fists, guns and pitchforks. This movie is really, really silly, but it's pretty funny, too. Will Ferrell's character's dog Baxter has some funny moments, too. This is definitely a film worth seeing.

Letters to Juliet

I think that this is a really good romantic comedy. When I first saw the preview, I thought that this was going to be just a romance with not a lot of comedy. However, I was wrong. There was quite a bit of comedy in this movie and I actually laughed at it. Vanessa Redgrave and Amanda Seyfreid are both really pretty and good actresses. This is more of a chick flick and not some slapstick romantic comedy like What Happens In Vegas that guys will want to see. I still recommend it, though. It's funny, sweet, romantic and will warm your heart. So, what are you waiting for? Go out and buy some tickets to see Letters To Juliet!

Knight & Day
Knight & Day(2010)

Man, this was one heck of a movie. It was awesome! It was funny, romantic and of course, action packed! I think that Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz were very funny and made a great couple. Another thing I liked was Paul Dano as the geeky scientist who Tom Cruise has to protect. He was likable. The action scenes were done very well. There was this one scene where an Austrian assassin tries to kill Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. So, get this. Cameron Diaz accidentally stabs the Austrian, he takes the knife out, is kicked out a train window and holds on to some sausage links... then gets run over by a train. You sort of have to see the movie to find it cool, I guess. Anyways, this is an excellent action-comedy-romance that you should definitely see.

Elf
Elf(2003)

This is not the best film that I have ever seen, but it is not the worst film I have ever seen, either. I have to say, a good part of the movie was Will Ferrell's performance. He plays a really nice character. I liked that. Some of the humor was stupid, but some of it was funny. All in all, though, it was an entertaining film. See it.

Little Fockers

This is an under-rated movie. The Toronto Star gave it one out of four. The Globe and Mail gave it a one and a half out of four. Now, this site has given this movie 9%. Come on, guys. Have a heart! This movie was funny! Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro were funny! Owen Wilson had some laughs, too! The kids of Ben Stiller's character were funny in some scenes, also! If that doesn't make you want to see the movie, I'll tell you something that might make you want to see the movie. Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro get into a fight! Not a fight where you argue, but contact fighting. They get into a fist fight! It's wicked awesome! The verdict is: See Little Fockers.

The Ref
The Ref(1994)

Gosh, this film is hysterical! Denis Leary is so funny in this movie! Sure, he's foul-mouthed and not very nice, but he still made me laugh. The bickering couple he takes hostage were pretty entertaining, too. There is a scene where they are seeing a marriage counselor and the session is just going completely wrong. Also, the couple has family coming over for Christmas dinner and the couple pretend that Denis Leary is their marriage counselor. It is such a funny scene. The worst parts of the movie were with the drunk Santa. He wasn't funny, in my opinion. However, there is one scene where the drunk Santa tries to beat up Denis Leary. Denis Leary punches the Santa and when the Santa is knocked out, Leary says in a horrified way, ``I just beat up Santa.'' Also, there are some extremely dumb cops who tape over important evidence with ``It's A Wonderful Life'' by accident. If you are liking the sound of this movie, you should go out and see it. If you aren't liking the sound of it, don't see this movie, then.

Tron Legacy
Tron Legacy(2010)
½

This was not a terrible film, I must say. I enjoyed it more than the first movie Tron. However, it is still not the best movie I have ever seen. I don't know if The Toronto Star was correct about this film. It's not a two and a half out of four. It's probably a three out of four. The Globe and Mail gave this movie a two and a half out of four, too, so I disagree with that paper, also. This is not a movie you should skip. It has cool special effects and cool action.

Hereafter
Hereafter(2010)

This was a really good movie. I enjoyed it a lot. The tsunami scene was magnificent! Also, Matt Damon and the British kid give good performances. It's not the best movie I've ever seen. If it was, it would be 100%. Anyways, I am just saying that this is a very good movie that I think is worth seeing. However, my least favourite part was the French newscaster. She wasn't terribly boring, but I found her subplot the least entertaining.

Disturbia
Disturbia(2007)

This is a great, suspenseful movie. Shia LaBeouf gives a great performance as Kale Brecht, an angry teenager who gets sentenced to three months house arrest after punching his Spanish teacher in the face. The film was really funny, too. A funny character was Kale's friend, Ronnie, who is played by Aaron Yoo. The suspense is pretty awesome, too. The bad guy who is played by David Morse is pretty good, too. If you are scared easily, you might want to steer clear of this movie. Now, I can be scared pretty easily sometimes. For example, I was scared of an anti-drugs commercial, but this movie didn't seem to scare me. So, I'm just going to come out and say it: See Disturbia.

How Do You Know

This was a really good movie. Paul Rudd gives an excellent performance in this film as the sadsack guy. He's really funny in the movie. Owen Wilson does a great job, too, as Reese Witherspoon's boyfriend who can't seem to do anything right. Jack Nicholson was not bad, either. Same with Reese Witherspoon. I have to say, though, this movie went on for a pretty long time. But I guess that's okay. There were some scenes that I would have missed if it had been shorter. The critics were a little hard on this movie. One paper gave it only two and a half out of 4. One paper gave it two out of four. Rotten Tomatoes, you weren't very nice with this movie, either. You gave it a 37%. That's harsh. Anyways, to end this review, here's an interesting little fact: This movie was originally rated R for some language and it had a bunch of swearing. But the movie was re-edited and became PG-13 for sexual content and some strong language.

The Tourist
The Tourist(2010)

This was a pretty entertaining movie. The action was good and good Lord, Angelina Jolie is beautiful in this movie. The Toronto Star gave this movie a one and a half stars out of four. That is unfair. This is an entertaining action movie. When I saw the commercials, I thought that it looked entertaining. It turned out to be entertaining. The verdict is in: See The Tourist.

Meet the Parents

I must say, this movie is extremely funny. During this movie, I was laughing my head off. The situations that Ben Stiller got into were just awkward and so uncomfortable to watch, but I couldn't help but laugh. This is probably now my favourite movie because Robert De Niro and Ben Stiller make such a great comedy duo. So, even though some people might not like this movie, I still think that if you're not overly sensitive and you love comedy, this is the film for you.

Flipped
Flipped(2010)
½

I read the book of Flipped this year. It was pretty good. Tonight, I saw the film version of Flipped. I have to say, it wasn't the best movie ever. I mean, it was entertaining and all, but it sure is not my favourite movie. I found that it was a little weird with the setting of time. The book was set in the time of the Internet. The movie was set in the fifties and sixties. I think that is a little weird. However, that was only a small part. It also just wasn't the best film ever. I think that a better Rob Reiner movie is The Princess Bride. That is a great film. I think that is worth seeing. But this is worth seeing, too! So, the verdict is in: See Flipped.

The Mighty
The Mighty(1998)
½

This movie started as a book. That book was called Freak the Mighty and the author of that book was Rodman Philbrick. Gosh, that was a good book. Fast forward 5 years after the book is written and the movie version of it is out. Only this time, it is called The Mighty. I found that this was a great film. When I first saw the movie, I was half paying attention. I was working on some thing on the computer. However, I viewed the movie a second time and I was not on the computer. I have to say, it was better to view it a second time. It is such a great movie. It is sad, heartwarming, funny and adventurous. See this movie as soon as possible.

Cats & Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore

This is not a good movie. I barely laughed at it. The best part of the film was the credits, but that only lasted a minute or so. The 3D was not effective and the jokes were either corny or potty humor. Kids will love it, but adults will hate it. If you're a kid who loves corny and potty humor jokes, see the first one and second one. If you are an adult, just see the first one and skip the second film.

Avatar
Avatar(2009)

This movie is over-rated. It is not good. Do not see it. It is boring, it does not have enough action and it goes on too long. It is more than two and a half hours. The ending is stupid, too, and they kill off the best character (I won't say who!). So, do not see it. See better James Cameron films like Titanic and True Lies.

Coach
Coach(2009)

To start off this review, I will say that this movie Coach is not an Oscar winner. Nope. But hey, it is still fun to watch. I enjoyed the movie, even though I do not care for soccer. The scenes with the kids were entertaining to watch and I thought the story kept me interested. So, if you like soccer and an interesting plot, Coach might be the movie for you to see. If you don't like interesting plots and soccer, Coach is not the movie for you to see.

Inception
Inception(2010)

This was such a great movie. It was so well done. The special effects were amazing and the acting was pretty good, too. There were some pretty cool action scenes, too. I heard that this was a long movie, but the time flew by for me. A relative of mine who saw this movie with me pointed out that it needed to be long to explain all the stuff Leonardo Dicaprio and his team were doing. So, if you can sit in a seat for two and a half hours and pay attention for that long, Inception is the movie for you.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

When I first saw the preview for this film, I thought that this film looked gross, stupid and unfunny. However, when I went on a road trip, I went to a resort in Captiva Island and saw an advertisement for this movie and I thought, Hey, that looks kind of funny. I think I'll go see it. So, I went to see it and yes, there was some humor that made me really want to puke. For example, in one scene, a kid eats some moldy cheese and I gagged when watching the scene. I think that it's not some stupid, gross out, corny kids film. It was actually a film with real humor and I think that some adults might actually enjoy it. If some critics say it's just gross and mean spirited, but it's not that kind of film. Go ahead and see it.

Love Happens
Love Happens(2009)
½

Okay, Love Happens has gotten some bad reviews. But this is not a bad review. This is a good review. I first heard about this movie when I went to see The Proposal (a very funny movie) and I thought it looked decent. It wasn't like I was dying to see it, but it looked entertaining. I never saw it in theaters. I never got around to it. However, I watched it on TV one night and I have to say, it's not terrible. Richard Roeper, it's not one of the worst movies of 2009, in my opinion. That is what you think, sir. You are entitled to your opinion. Anyhow, it's not the best film I have ever seen and it may be predictable (I will not say what happens), but it is still enjoyable. So, the verdict is in: See Love Happens.

Tangled
Tangled(2010)

This is a great film. It's funny, adventurous and interesting! I have to be honest, when I first saw the preview to this movie, I didn't think it looked like a very good movie. There was only one funny part of the preview. It was the part with the smoulder. I said, ``I'll see it, I guess.'' However, when I saw a second preview to it, I thought the film looked terrible. So, I decided not to see the movie. But when it came out, it got great reviews. The Toronto Star gave it three out of four. The Globe and Mail gave it a four out of four. That's pretty good. I decided to go see it after I read the reviews. I have to say, it was really good. This is a film that kids and adults will probably enjoy. So, the verdict is in: See Tangled!

Morning Glory

This was a very enjoyable film. Rachel McAdams, Diane Keaton and Harrison Ford give great performances in this film. Harrison Ford is funny and Diane Keaton is funny, too. There is one scene where she tries rapping with 50 Cent. It is funny. Also, there are a couple of scenes where this one newscaster on the failing show goes on a rollercoaster and starts screaming. It doesn't sound very funny when you hear it from me, but when you actually see it happening, it is funny. There is another scene where the same guy jumps out of the plane and it's fun to watch, too. So, the final verdict is: See Morning Glory.

Unstoppable
Unstoppable(2010)

This is a great film. I really liked it. Sure, my mind might have wandered a bit, but hey, that's natural for me. Anyhow, the storyline and the action with the train was very interesting. Also, the writing was well done, along with the performances. Denzel Washington and Chris Pine both do great jobs as conductors. One who has been working in that type of work for 28 years and one who is starting a railroad job for the first time. The conversations between the two actors were well done, too. The train action was intense, of course. During the screening of the movie, I was saying reasonably quietly, ``Go, go, go!'' So, this is a great film that should definitely be seen.

Enemy of the State

This was a really entertaining film. Will Smith gave a good performance in my opinion and Gene Hackman did a good job, too. I was a little sad when one of the characters gets killed, but it was just one scene (I'm not saying who got killed.) The action was good, too. It wasn't all brutal and gory (except for one scene at the end, minus gore), but mostly excitement along with guns, too. So, I think that this is worth seeing.

Megamind
Megamind(2010)

When I first saw the preview for this movie, I thought it looked pretty funny. When I saw the second preivew, I thought it looked funny still. However, when I saw another ad for it on TV, I thought, ``Uh-oh, this could be a pretty bad movie.'' However, I still saw it and really liked it. Will Ferrell is really good in this and I thought the writing in this film was good, too. So, I think that this is a really good movie that people should see.

Easy A
Easy A(2010)

This was a really good movie. Emma Stone was funny in this movie, the parents were funny and the guy who was being helped by Emma Stone was funny. One flaw with the movie was the best friend of Emma Stone. She was annoying. But I think that this was really good and that people should go out and see it. The humor was well executed in my opinion.

Charlie St. Cloud

This is a great movie. Zac Efron is a pretty talented guy. I mean, he first impressed me when I saw the High School Musical movies, then, he made me laugh in 17 Again and now, he's doing a great dramatic role in Charlie St. Cloud. This is quite an under-rated movie. Do not listen to any critics or people that you know that hated this movie. Go out and see it.

Red
Red(2010)

This was a really enjoyable movie. The cast was great, the comedy was great and of course, the action was great. This is definitely worth seeing. John Malkovich is very funny in this film. For example, he shoots a guy and then says, ``Can we have pancakes?'' It was very funny. So, once again, see it.

The Blind Side

I think that this was a great film. Sandra Bullock gives a great performance in this film and also the guy who played Michael Oher is pretty good, too. It's not perfect, but it's not terrible. I think I got a little bored at one point, but I powered through and still enjoyed the movie. So, I definitely think it's worth seeing. Sandra Bullock deserved that Oscar for this movie.

Life as We Know It

This was a very good movie. When I first saw the trailer, I have to admit that I was skeptical. However, I saw it anyways and I must say, it was very entertaining. The chemistry was interesting, but the humor was good, too. Plus, the baby is adorable. I know that's predictable and sappy, but come on, it's adorable! Anyhow, I say see it.

You Again
You Again(2010)
½

I liked this film. I enjoyed it. In my opinion, it's very under-rated. I laughed at quite a few of the jokes. Don't listen to the people who give this movie a 30% on Rottentomatoes.com or papers who gave it one and a half stars. Just go out and see it. It's not my favourite film ever, but who cares? It's funny and I say see it!

The Spiderwick Chronicles

This was a very good movie. I think that the action was entertaining and intense, too. Freddie Highmore did an interesting job with the two characters. However, the screaming for the brother of the main character was plain, flat out stupid. However, this is an entertaining film that I think should be seen. It's not my favourite film of all time, but still, see it.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps
½

I thought that this was an entertaining film. Yeah, it's not my favourite film ever, but I liked it. Shia Labeouf is a great actor and he was doing some pretty good stuff in here. This is a good film that I think people should see. Don't listen to the people who gave this film a 20% on the Tomato Meter. Just go out and see Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. I'm pretty darn sure you won't be sorry.

Live Free or Die Hard
½

This film is crazy awesome. The action is great, the bad guy was good, Bruce Willis was great and Justin Long was great, too. Kevin Smith did a good job in a small role in this movie, too. Yeah, it's silly, but it's extremely entertaining. This is definitely worth seeing. See it as soon as you can.

Gunless
Gunless(2011)

This is a great movie. I found it quite funny. It was too bad that this wasn't in theaters for very long. Oh well. I got to see it one night when I rented it with some people I know and it was very good. I wanted to see it, but I didn't feel like it that much. However, I watched it and of course, liked it. This is a great movie and people who are Canadian should see this.

Die Hard
Die Hard(1988)

This was a pretty amazing film. Bruce Willis is crazy in this film. He's a one man army! A couple of months ago, I saw the fourth one, Live Free Or Die Hard (a very under-rated film, by the way). I thought that was amazing, too. I am not quite sure if this was as good as the fourth one. I think they're both equal. Anyways, this is definitely worth seeing in my opinion.

The Bourne Supremacy
½

This is my least favourite Jason Bourne film. I mean, I don't hate it or anything, it's just not my favourite. I liked the action, though. Matt Damon is very good in this role and I like it more probably because I paid more attention to the dialogue a second time through. I liked the car chases and there is this one fight scene that was pretty entertaining. So, it may not be the best of the three films, but it's still worth watching.

The Bourne Ultimatum

Man, was this ever a great action flick. There wasn't tons of action, but I didn't care. Matt Damon's performance, the great story and the action scenes that I got was all that I needed to enjoy this film. This is one of the best of the three Bourne flicks. The first on (Bourne Identity) is one of the best, also. Even though I have not yet seen the whole thing of Bourne Supremacy, I can already say that it is the worst of the series. It's not bad, but it's not great. Anyways, back to this movie. This is a great action flick and I think it's definitely worth seeing. While watching the whole film, I waited for the lines from the preview. Here's how it basically goes: BOURNE: THIS IS JASON BOURNE. BAD GUY: I WAS WONDERING WHEN YOU'D MAKE THIS CALL. (Note: I'm going to skip to the good stuff) BOURNE: WHERE ARE YOU RIGHT NOW? BAD GUY: I'M SITTING IN MY OFFICE. BOURNE: I DOUBT THAT. BAD GUY: WHY WOULD YOU DOUBT THAT? BOURNE: IF YOU WERE IN YOUR OFFICE RIGHT NOW, WE'D BE HAVING THIS CONVERSATION FACE TO FACE. (CLICK) (Oh, they were talking on the phone). Then, he steals some top secret file and... oh heck. Just watch the dang film.

The Infidel
The Infidel(2010)
½

I thought that this was a funny movie. One problem with this movie was the running time. It was only about 105 minutes, but if it had been shorter, I might have enjoyed this a bit more. However, I still liked it. Before I saw it, I kind of didn't want to see it. I'm not sure why, but I didn't want to see it much. Oh, another problem was that there were a lot of ``f bombs''. I don't like that. Other than that, I think this is a movie that should be checked out.

Red Eye
Red Eye(2005)

This movie is excellent. It had the right amount of comic relief, the right amount of suspense and it ended strong. The bad guy was believable because Cillian Murphy is kind of... um... I don't know... creepy. Also, I realized that after watching it on a film critic show, Rachel McAdams was not a wimpy, annoying heroine. She was a girl who seemed scared at sometimes, but actually was quite a tough person. I mean, she stabs Cillian Murphy with a pen. Whoah, that's pretty brave. I think this is a thriller people should check out.

Salt
Salt(2010)

This was a great action flick. Just because Evelyn Salt is a woman does not mean she can kick butt. I read somewhere that this role was meant for Tom Cruise, but if it had been Tom Cruise, I'm not sure if I would have liked it as much. The action was never ending and the plot kept you interested. Oh, just when you think things are so predictable in this movie, a twist in the plot comes along. I won't tell, but trust me, you won't expect it. So, if you are big action buffs, this is the movie for you to see.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

This movie was sick! I loved it so much. Michael Cera was amazing as Scott Pilgrim. I liked the band, the effects, the music, the girlfriend, the evil exes, the story and the script. I thought that it was cool how whenever someone died, they turned into a bunch of coins and how the opening Universal studios symbol and theme music sounded like it was out of an old video game. That was really cool to me. Oh, I also liked Kieran Culkin as Micheal Cera's gay roommate and Ellen Wong as Knives Chau, a girl Scott dated before Ramona (Scott is Michael Cera and Ramona is the girl Michael Cera falls in love with) This is just a great film that is definitely worth seeing.

The Switch
The Switch(2010)

This was a great film. I loved it. Jason Bateman and Jennifer Anniston were a good team in this movie. Another great quality is the child who played Jennifer Anniston's son. He was so cute, so sweet and so funny. Don't listen to the people who might say this film sucks. Just go out and see The Switch.

The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past
½

Before renting Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past, I wasn't really expecting a great movie. And what do you know? I didn't get a great movie! Matthew McConaughey is a pretty bad actor and the flirting with the mom was just plain creepy and not sexy. I like Jennifer Garner, though, and I did like the ghosts of girlfriends past part of the film with Emma Stone as the first ghost. You get to see the childhood of the main character and it was rather interesting. So, if you're looking for a mildly entertaining romantic comedy to watch, this is the movie for you to seek out.

Extraordinary Measures

This was a great film. I really enjoyed watching it. Now, sometimes in my life, I see an ad for a movie and I want to see it, but I kind of try and avoid it. This is exactly what I did with Extraordinary Measures. But, I rented it one day and I watched it that night and I must say, it was very good. Not only was it good with the dramatic themes, it added some small, delightful humour. So, I think that this is a good, light hearted movie that I think people should see.

The Lovely Bones
½

The Lovely Bones is a very well made picture. I never read the book, but I would like to after seeing this movie. The girl who plays the dead girl is very good, Mark Wahlberg is good, Rachel Weiz is good, Susan Sarandon is good, Stanley Tucci is good and the dead girl's family is good, too. Oh, the special effects are pretty darn good, too. So, why 70%? Well, I'm not sure, either. I think it might have been too long. I'm not sure, but hey, who cares? This movie is great and I recommend seeing it.

Walking Tall
Walking Tall(2004)

The Rock is a very talented guy. He makes me laugh, he's a good kids actor, a former wrestler and also an action hero. That's amazing. So is this movie. The thing I liked about this movie was that it wasn't dead serious. Mostly, the comedy revolved around Johnny Knoxville as The Rock's friend and sidekick. So, forget what everyone else on this website is saying and see Walking Tall.

Paper Heart

I think that this is a well made movie. I liked Charlyne Yi and Michael Cera. They were very good together. I had a fun time watching it. Yeah, it's not Michael Cera's best movie or his best performance, but he does a good job in this film. Michael Cera is my new favourite young actor. So, I recommend seeing this movie.

Dinner for Schmucks

This was a very funny movie. Steve Carrel and Paul Rudd were very good together. They should make another movie together. I also like Jemaine Clement as some freaky artist. He was so odd and werid, but so funny. I've never doubted Steve Carrel. He didn't fail me in this movie. He was so funny. I loved the little mouse art that he would make. It was so cute! Zach Galifinakis was funny, too, as Steve Carrel's boss. So, if you are a fan of weird comedies and Steve Carrel, then I highly recommend seeing this.

Anvil! The Story of Anvil

Okay, this is a good movie. Nothing more to say about that. Don't get me wrong, I like the film and I think that it's well made. It's just that there was something about it that made me just plain like it. Maybe it's because I'm not a hardcore music or metal fan. However, if you are a metal fan or music fan, this is definitely the movie for you to see.

Madea Goes to Jail

I love this movie. It is so much fun to watch. I think that Tyler Perry is very funny as the angry grandma. I also liked the subplot with the lawyer who was taking care of the hooker. Yeah, it's no Oscar winner, but hey, who cares? This is a fun movie and I recommend it very highly.

The Net
The Net(1995)
½

This was a very good and exciting thriller. Sandra Bullock is a great comedic actress, a great dramatic actress and she can also act well in a thriller. Man, this girl has got talent. This movie is very exciting and it's not overly violent, either. I think that this is definitely worth seeing. Don't worry, this isn't a scary movie, for those who are easily scared.

The Other Guys

Okay, here's my thoughts on The Other Guys. I think that it's a very funny movie in the first half and I enjoyed it quite a bit. However, after Will Ferrel reveals something to Mark Wahlberg that you don't know when the film starts, the film starts to go downhill. I mean, you've got an irresponsible drinking scene, a suicide, the Steve Coogan character and there's just some jokes that don't work. I do think that Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrel make a good team. Don't get the wrong idea, this is a funny movie, but I just don't think it's worth going to the theaters to see. It's a better film to rent or watch on TV.

Be Cool
Be Cool(2005)
½

I think that this was a good sequel to Get Shorty, another good movie. Vince Vaughn was very funny as the guy who was making fun of all these white guys who acted black, The Rock was funny as the gay bodyguard who wanted to be an actor, John Travolta was good as the shylock turned movie producer turned music producer and the singer who John Travolta produced was very talented and pretty. I'm not exactly sure why this was not as good as the first film Get Shorty, but it just wasn't as good. So, if you liked Get Shorty, you should see Be Cool.

Get Shorty
Get Shorty(1995)

Man, this movie sure knows how to be funny. I loved the stars of this movie. John Travolta was great, Danny DeVito was great, Gene Hackman was great, Renee Russo was good and Dennis Farina was great. John Travolta plays this guy Chili Palmer so well and so deadpan and he doesn't look like an idiot doing it. He's so funny whenever he says the line, ``Look at me.'' He says that at least ten times in the whole movie and it's so funny. This is a movie that I definitely recommend to comedy buffs.

Ramona and Beezus

I loved Ramona and Beezus. Now, a couple of months before this movie came out, I read one of the Ramona books. It was called Ramona the Pest and I have to say, Ramona was very annoying. In the movie, though, she's not annoying at all. She's really likable, in fact. The actress who played Ramona was perfectly cast and she seemed like a real kid. Everyone else was good, too. If you ask me, this is a great movie for both kids and adults to see.

Tommy Boy
Tommy Boy(1995)

Chris Farley (in my opinion), was a pretty funny guy. Yes, he was extremely over the top, but that's what he does. This was a very funny movie. For years, I had never seen the whole thing of Tommy Boy. I'd only watched certain parts of it. In my opinion, I think that David Spade gave some of his best comic performances with Chris Farley. They made a great team. I think that this is a very funny movie that comedy fans should see.

The Marc Pease Experience

Well, this is a funny movie. It's not great, but it was kind of fun to watch. Ben Stiller and Jason Schwartzman in my opinion were giving pretty funny performances in this film. Yes, it's not Ben Stiller's best work, but hey, no one's perfect. So, if you don't really care whether this is a well made movie or not, then what the heck? See Marc Pease Experience.

The In-Laws
The In-Laws(2003)
½

This was a really funny movie, in my opinion. I think that Albert Brooks was very funny in this movie and he and Michael Douglas made a great comedy duo. There was some not fantastic, but interesting action in this movie, too that kept me going. So, if you're a fan of action comedies, this is the movie for you to see.

Planet 51
Planet 51(2009)
½

Oh boy. This film is not great. I found that a lot of the jokes were not very funny and that this one character played by what sounded like Sean William Scott was just plain annoying and stupid. The action was mildly entertaining I must say, but that came only a few times in the film. So, if you're a kid, this is probably something that will be your favourite movie forever and ever. If you're an adult, this probably be on the list of worst movies you've ever seen.

Adventureland

I think that Adventureland is very over rated. The swearing was not good, the thing with Kristen Stewart and Ryan Reynolds was weird and the ending was ridiculous. I think that the acting is good, it's mostly funny when it's supposed to be, but the bad stuff I just mentioned was just off-putting for me. So, if you like bad endings, swearing and weird stuff, this is the movie for you. However, if you don't like that stuff (like me), I don't know if Adventureland is for you.

Rocket Science

This was a funny movie. The first few minutes were a little odd, though. However, after the first few minutes, I started to really enjoy it a lot. The humour was very awkward and weird. I like that kind of humour. I'm not sure if this is a movie for everyone, though. If you don't get uncomfortable easily, then this is the movie for you. Rocket Science is a very good movie.

Grace Is Gone
½

John Cusack gives a great dramatic performance in this movie, in my opinion. I think that this is definitely a movie people should see, if you can handle it. Yes, it's very sad, but it's so well done. Another thing that I liked about this movie was the kids of John Cusack. They were so well portrayed and so real. They seemed like people you would meet in real life. So, go ahead and rent Grace Is Gone.

Napoleon Dynamite
½

This was a hysterical movie. Jon Heder gives a great deadpan performance in this movie. No one could have done this role as well as he did. I also liked Napoleon Dynamite's brother Kip. He was funny. The Latino guy Pedro was pretty good, too. What I love about this movie is that everything that is going on is done in such an odd way and it doesn't get ridiculous. Oh, if you fast forward through the credits, there's a secret scene. Fact: The actor who plays Uncle Rico was a vegetarian. So, whenever he ate meat in a scene and they were done filming the scene, the actor would spit it out.

Gentlemen Broncos
½

I thought that this was a pretty funny movie to be honest. However, the snake with the diarrhea was just plain unnecessary. It was just gross. However, other than that, this was a lot of fun to watch. I think that the kid Michael Angarano and the jerkhead writer played by Jermaine Clement were pretty good in their roles. I felt pretty sorry for the kid in the movie, though. I mean, nothing was going right for him. He was just getting played throughout almost the whole movie. I like the style of humour it's going towards, though. I like awkward and odd humour. So, if you're a fan of awkward and odd humour, you should see Gentlemen Broncos.

Despicable Me

I loved this movie. It was so funny and sweet. The cast was perfectly cast. Steve Carrel was fantastic as usual and everyone else was great, too. The minions of Steve Carrel were one of my favourite parts of the movie. They were just so wacky and crazy, but very funny, too. This is definitely a movie I think that you readers should see at once.

Taken
Taken(2009)

This was an amazing action film. Liam Neeson may be in his late fifties, but that doesn't mean he can't still be an action star. He was just so intense and determined to find his daughter and it was very exciting to watch him defeat the people who were involved in kidnapping his kid. It is action almost all the way through. However, if you're not into really intense action films, then I don't think you should see this movie. However, if you do like intense aciton films, you should see this movie.

Everybody's Fine

This is a great movie. It's funny, it's sad and heartwarming. Trust me, this is film that you don't want to miss. Robert De Niro gives a great performance here as the widowed father who's living by himself and is lonely. What made me like this movie was that you saw how much he loved his children and that he really cared about them. I mean, this could have been a movie about a widowed dad who loves his kids and cares about them, but it all seems fake. However, that did not happen. So, don't listen to this Tomato Meter on Rotten Tomatoes.com. Listen to me, Cocoa_Puffs. I know what I'm talking about. Trust me, this is not a 47% movie.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
½

This was a movie that I had wanted to see, but I sort of wanted to stay away from it. I don't know why, but I just did. However, because part of me still wanted to see it, I watched the movie in theatres. I must say, it was pretty good. The action was good, the acting wasn't cheesy and some parts of it were kind of funny (on purpose). Something that I really liked about this movie was Alfred Molina and his black friend who had very good aim with a knife. They were both very likable and fun to watch on screen. I also liked the way they showed what happened when you pressed the button on the magical dagger. It was very cool and not pricey looking. So, I think that this movie is a lot of fun. Sure, it might look cheesy on the poster and the previews, but just give it a chance. It is a lot of fun.

Juno
Juno(2007)

In my opinion, there was nothing wrong with this movie Juno. When I'd first heard about this movie, it was on a preview show. They showed the preview and when the preview was done, I was a little puzzled by the look of it. It was a good puzzled, though... I think. Then, a couple of months later, my parents saw it and liked it. Also, the critics were raving about how Juno was the best. So, I wanted to see it. However, that year, I didn't. So, fast forward three years to 2010 and one summer evening, I watch the film Juno that came with another excellent movie, Little Miss Sunshine. It was amazing. The script was so clever and unique. Oh, the cast was absolutely fantastic. No one could do a character like Juno like Ellen Page. She just did it so well. The supporting cast was good, too. There was J.K. Simmons, Allison Janney, Michael Cera, Olivia Thirlby, Jennifer Garner and Jason Bateman. All of them were fantastic and no wonder Jason Reitman did such a good job with this movie. His dad is the famous Ivan Reitman (yay!). Good job, Jason Reitman.

Midnight Run
Midnight Run(1988)

This movie was amazing. I had so much fun watching it. Robert De Niro is such a good actor. Even though he's an angry character and isn't always the nicest guy to his FTA played by Charles Grodin, he was still likable. Another thing I liked about this movie was the bad guy played by Dennis Farina. He'd just be talking to some guy on the phone and say, ``If you don't get Jonathan Madukas, I'm going to stab you with a pencil.'' Then, he'd hang up. Oh, I also liked the angry phone conversations between Robert De Niro and Joe Pantoliano. They were so much fun to watch, but I must say, they were foul mouthed. I guess what I'm trying to say is: See Midnight Run.

Little Miss Sunshine

This is an excellent movie. It's funny, sad and touching. The cast in this movie is amazing. Steve Carrel as the depressed uncle, Alan Arkin as the swearing yet loving grandfather, Greg Kinnear as the winning obsessed dad, Paul Dano as the silent brother and Abigail Breslin as the cheerful little munchkin. Now, when you mix that together, what do you get? Disaster! And disaster is what we get here, but here's the good part. It makes you laugh! This is probably one of my favourite movies and if you are a movie lover and you have not seen Little Miss Sunshine, you must see it right away. If you have seen it and you haven't seen Toy Story 3, see Toy Story 3. Why? Here's why: The guy who did the screenplay for this movie did the screenplay for Toy Story 3! Oh, Toy Story 3 is a great movie, just in case you were wondering.

Twilight
Twilight(2008)
½

This is my second favourite Twilight movie. It is better than New Moon, but not as good as Twilight Saga: Eclipse. On the film critic show At the Movies, critics Ben Lyons and Ben Manciwecz said that this was a skip it. I disagree. This movie was romantic, exciting and the supporting characters were good, too. I liked the friends, the dad and there was one scene with the mom where she says something that I think is quite funny. Now, Robert Pattinson is really not the kind of guy that I would call, uh, a ``hottie''. However, vampires are usually pale and this guy is a pale fella. So, he fits the part. I think that this is a Twilight movie that you should seek out.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

This is my least favourite Twilight movie. I think that this was not as good as Eclipse and the first movie, Twilight. The first film was funnier and I don't know, there was something else missing in this movie that the other films had. I mean, I liked Jacob and everything, but this just didn't have the same effect on me as the others did. It's good, but not great.

Trading Places

This was a lot of fun to watch. Trading Places was a movie that I had wanted to see, but I sort of didn't want to see either. I knew that it was supposed to be good, but for seem reason, there was something that held me back from wanting to watch it. However, one night, when my family wanted to watch a movie and no one else wanted to watch Little Miss Sunshine and Longest Yard, we decided to watch Trading Places. I must say, I was impressed. Eddie Murphy was great as the hustler and Dan Akroyd was perfect as the role of the rich, loyal guy. Then, everything goes awry. I just had a blast with it and I think that people should see it.

Analyze This
Analyze This(1999)
½

This was one funny movie. Robert De Niro and Billy Crystal should definitely make more movies together because in this, they were hysterical, even though they were two different people. One thing that I didn't like about this movie was the foul language. It wasn't even necessary. However, this was a much funnier movie than the other Harold Ramis movie Year One. That starred Michael Cera and Jack Black. Honestly, it wasn't all that great. So, if you saw that movie and you weren't impressed, see Analyze This. You will be laughing your head off.

Grown Ups
Grown Ups(2010)

This movie was better than the previews. When I saw the previews, there were only two funny jokes. In this movie, there was way more than two funny jokes. One thing that made me push this thing down to a 60% was that some of the jokes weren't funny and the whole Rob Schneider marrying a woman who was 50 years older than him was just sickening rather than funny. However, I think that the other main characters like Chris Rock, Kevin James and Adam Sandler were pretty funny. Also, Adam Sandler had a cute little girl who was very sweet. Steve Buscemi also makes an appearance in this film and is funny. So, Grown Ups may not be the best comedy ever, but I had a lot of fun watching it.

Toy Story 2
Toy Story 2(1999)
½

I think that this was a great sequel. I think that I might have liked this movie a little more than the first one. I might have liked it more because I laughed more and the scenes with Hamm, Slinky, Rex, Mr. Potatohead and Buzz Lightyear were very fun to watch. Also, I liked the characters Jessie and Bullseye. They were funny characters. So, I think that it was better than the first one, but not as good as the third installment, Toy Story 3.

Toy Story
Toy Story(1995)
½

This is a great Pixar feature. I think that it is very well done. The toys in this film are so interesting like the car with eyes, the etch sketch and all these other weird creatures. I thought that it was very fun to watch Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear have no clue that he is a toy and he's so over the top with the whole space ranger thing going on for him. I thought that was very funny. However, I do not think this was as good as the third one, Toy Story 3. That one was outstanding! So, I think you should see this movie.

X2: X-Men United

I think that from what I've seen on the Tomato Meter, this is an over rated movie. I don't think it deserves 90% or anything like that. I thought that this was the worst of the X-Men films. It wasn't appalling or anything, but it was not great. I think I might not have liked it because the last action scene went on way too long. Plus, I think there wasn't as much action as there was in the third and first movie. Other than that, it's a good movie and I think you should see it.

Toy Story 3
Toy Story 3(2010)

I loved this movie. I was so impressed with the movie, I clapped, ``Whoo! Whoo!'' That's the way I cheer sometimes, in case you were wondering. The movie was not only hysterical (very hysterical), it was very touching, too. There was this one scene where the grown up Andy is talking to this little girl and he's showing her all these toys and giving them descriptions. But when it comes down to Woody, he really gives a great description of him about how great he is and here's the great part. It doesn't come off as cheesy or stupid. It's really heartwarming. Plus, the bad guy voiced by Ned Beatty was really evil and the doll Ken (voiced by Michael Keaton) was really funny. This is the best of the whole Toy Story series.

The Karate Kid
½

This was a great movie. I thought that it was funny, romantic and intense. I think that Jackie Chan did a great job as the trainer for Jaden Smith. I think that he was really likable and fit the character very well. I think that the Toronto Star was very hard on this movie. I mean, they gave it one and a half out of four. Ouch. That's mean. However, they did make a good point about the violence. The violence in this movie was quite brutal (for kids, I mean). Other than that, it's a great movie that I think you should see, no matter how much some people hate it.

The A-Team
The A-Team(2010)
½

I really, really liked this movie. I thought that it was pure guy movie material. It was funny, romantic and there was a ton of action. Now, judging by the poster, you're probably thinking that this movie is extremely stupid and that you'll never see it. Don't do that. It's a great action movie and if you are going to judge a movie by a poster, stop watching movies right now. You are not worthy. Just kidding. Anyways, for those of you who do want to see the movie and haven't seen the movie yet, go see it. You will not regret that decision.

Remember the Titans
½

Whenever my dad or my teacher mentioned the movie Remember the Titans and they said how good it was, I would just say something like, ``Uh huh.'' I never really wanted to see the movie all that much. Anyways, one day, I saw the movie and I must say, I was impressed. It was funny, sad, touching and happy. Plus, there were a couple of fist fights here and there. Those are always fun. So, it's not my favourite movie, but it might be my favourite sports movie. I think that you should really see this movie.

Meet the Fockers
½

Well, this turned out to be a pretty funny sequel. Ben Stiller was funny as usual and Robert De Niro was continuing his role as the overprotective dad of Ben Stiller's fiancee perfectly. Yes, he was mean, but he was funny, too. One problem I had with this movie was that the jokes were a little on the ruder side than the first movie and they dealt with sexual themes. Probably because of Barbara Streisand's character. It is still a great movie, though. I think that if you loved the first film, you should really see this successful sequel.

Lethal Weapon
½

I really, really love this movie. It's just so darn crazy and nutty, but so awesome. On the list of amazing action stars with the people like Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzeneger, Steven Seagal etc., Mel Gibson is up there. The scenes where he's battling the bad guys are unbelievably awesome. The last action scene in the movie is awesome. There are no guns except for the last 3 seconds. Other than that, it's just hand to hand combat between Gary Busey and Mel Gibson and trust me, it's crazy. This is probably now my favourite action movie. So, by all means, see it!

Lethal Weapon 2
½

I enjoyed this movie. I thought it was funny, romantic, action packed and heartwarming. Really, it's heartwarming because you see how much Mel Gibson cares for Danny Glover even though they might sometimes bicker. Another thing I loved about this movie was Joe Pesci as Leo Getts, some witness of the South African bad guys. He was really funny and likable. So, even though I didn't like this film as much as the first one, I think that this is still a film that you should see.

Marmaduke
Marmaduke(2010)

I must say, this is one under-rated movie. I think that the people who said ``crate it'', ``it should roll over and play dead'' and ``it should be put down'' are wrong. It's really not that awful a movie. Sure, it's not my favourite movie, but for what it is, it's not half bad. I think that Owen Wilson was fit for the role of Marmaduke, the extremely large dog and that the dance scene that looked dreadful in the preview was actually funny in the movie. So, all you people who heard the bad reviews of this movie and were turned off, don't listen to the people who hated this movie. Listen to me. Parents, if you want to take your kids out to a comedy one night, take them to see Marmaduke. They will laugh. If you don't, too bad. Please. Think about the children.

The Breakfast Club
½

I thought that this was a pretty good movie. I thought that it was touching, funny and heartwarming all at the same time. However, I didn't really like Judd Nelson's character, but I don't think he was supposed to be likable. I would have also liked for this movie to have been shorter, even though it was 97 minutes or so. I would have liked it to be about eighty-something minutes. But, it was still a good movie. So, I think that for those of you who haven't seen it should see it.

Open Season
Open Season(2006)

I think that this is an okay animated film. It's not the best ever made, but for what it is, it's not all that bad. I think Ashton Kutcher and Martin Lawrence are usually pretty funny and that they make a good comedy duo. So, it's no Oscar winner, but hey, it's enough to entertain yourself.

Labyrinth
Labyrinth(1986)

Boo. This movie stinks. The only good part was some weird talking dog. Other than that, this movie was pure garbage. People say that this movie is amazing. Wow, they're insane. I guess I'm just not a fan of fantasy. Anyways, I think that this movie is very dumb and that no one should see it. Ever.

The Goonies
The Goonies(1985)
½

Man, this movie is awesome. You want to know how I know it's awesome. At one point, it was one of my favourite movies. I'm not lying. This movie is funny. I think the best character is the fat kid Chunk. He's just so funny, so sweet and nothing goes right for him. He was my favourite character. Also, the kids were fun to watch, too. I thought that all those child actors that don't really have careers today (minus Josh Brolin and Sean Astin) were really good. Now, I'm not sure if it is as good as Richard Donner's other movie Lethal Weapon. They're both great movies and totally different. Very. Different. Anyways, even though there is some swearing in this movie, I still think it's a fun family movie.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High
½

When I first heard about this film, I thought it sounded like the dumbest movie ever and that I would never see it. However, I read in a book that it was good and I thought, ``Maybe I'll see it.'' So, one day, I watched it with my brothers and I must say, it was hilarious. I had never seen Sean Penn do anything like this before. This was my first Sean Penn movie, but in the ads for his movies, he's playing a gay president or a cop. He was just so ridiculous and ididotic, but I laughed at him every time. I couldn't wait for the scenes with him. Oh yeah, the other cast was good, too. But Sean Penn stole the whole show. See this movie because it's a fun movie, but see it mostly because of Sean Penn. He's awesome. Also, watch out for the little small parts by Forrest Whitaker, Nicolas Cage (credits call him Nicolas Coppola) and Eric Stoltz. If you don't find them, they'll be mentioned in the credits.

All About Steve
½

Wow, this movie is very under rated. I think that this movie was really funny and I like Sandra Bullock. Yes, Bradley Cooper is very creepy (sorry, Mr. Cooper. I'm sure you're really a good person.) I think that people were very harsh with this movie saying that this was awful. Well, they're wrong. I think so at least. Yeah, the preview threw me off a little bit, but someone I knew and trust saw it and said it was really good. So, I saw it and I was impressed. So ha ha you people who said this movie sucked. You were wrong.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Now, I'm going to start off this review by saying something: This is not a bad movie. However, it is not as good as the first one. There. I said it. You can laugh all you want, but I don't care. I think that this film is a fresh tomato. However, I think that the last action scene somewhere in the desert went on just a tad too long. I mean, there was a lot of explosions, gunfire and dead robots. That was cool. However, just when you think that something that's been going on forever is over and it starts again, that kind of irritates me. That's kind of what pushed me down to this 60% out of 100%. Also, there wasn't as much comedy as there was in the first movie. That's what I enjoyed about the first one a lot. The comedy. Oh well. You can't always please everyone. In other words, I still think that you should see Transformers: Revenge Of the Fallen.

Iron Man
Iron Man(2008)
½

This is probably one of my favourite superhero movies. Even though I hadn't read the comic much and that when I read the comic, it wasn't that great, this movie was fantastic. It was funny, sad, action packed and even a little romantic for all you ladies out there. Anyways, this is quite a different movie than all those other comic book movies. This one is funny, unlike the movie Hulk with Eric Bana. That movie was dead serious, stupid and boring. This movie, however, kept me entertained the whole time I was watching it. You want to know how good it is? I saw it twice! Oh yeah!

Surrogates
Surrogates(2009)

Now, this is not the greatest action movie of all time, but it's enough to get me through the movie. I think that for my first Bruce Willis action movie, it was pretty good and I was impressed. Yes, there wasn't that much comedy, but the action scenes were pretty awesome and Bruce Willis is in his mid fifties and he's still beating people up like he did back in the 80's when he was thirty-something. I think that many people were harsh with this movie on rottentomatoes. They were giving it all these rotten reviews like 30%, 20% and many more negative ratings. Don't listen to them. Listen to me. I'm pretty sure that you readers will enjoy this movie.

Bandslam
Bandslam(2009)

I think that this is a really fun movie. If you are a rock music fan, I think that this is the movie for you. It's funny, musical, dramatic and romantic. No action, though. Sorry, action buffs. Not this time. Anyways, I think that this is a really fun movie to watch. I thought that the chemistry between the main character and Vanessa Hudgens was believable and when it mentioned sad things, it was really sad, actually. So, don't let the High School Musical star in the preview and on the poster fool you. It's actually a lot of fun.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel
½

To start off this review, I just want to say something: This movie is so much better than the first movie. Yeah, yeah, go ahead and boo me. I don't care. I think that this film was just a whole lot funnier than the first one. For some reason, I just didn't seem to like the first one. I'm not sure why, but I just didn't enjoy it. This one however was actually funny and I enjoyed it. Sounds like a pretty good review, huh? If yes, follow my review and see Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel.

I must say, this is not the best action movie in the whole world, even though it rocks. The action was pretty cool, intense and the special effects were very well done. Another thing I enjoyed about this film is that the time just flew by. Seriously, I've gone through some pretty terrible movies that I'm just waiting for to be over. This movie was a breeze. It had some comedy, lots of action, a pinch of drama and a squeeze of romance. It doesn't matter if you didn't watch the show, collect the toys or that you watched the show and you collected the toys, but you hated them. It's a really fun, action movie and the big action buffs will be entertained. Unless you hate action movies. Then, it will be a disgrace to you. Then, watch a comedy or a drama.

Just Wright
Just Wright(2010)
½

I think that this is a really fun romantic comedy. When I saw the trailer, I thought, ``I want to see that.'' So, I went and saw it one night and I must say, it was not a waste of time and money. From what I've seen, Queen Latifah knows how to make a movie. Plus, the rapper guy Common wasn't too bad either and he's usually just supporting roles in movies such as Date Night. For his first time as a leading man, he wasn't bad. I remember that this one paper gave this movie a 3 out of 4 stars rating. I think that's a pretty good rating. So, if you're just sitting at home and you have nothing to do and you feel like a nice romantic comedy, go and check out Just Wright.

Shrek Forever After

This was a great Shrek movie. One thing that didn't need to be done in the movie was be in 3D. It didn't really do that much to the movie. But everything else was fantastic. The bad guy was really funny and evil and the other cast members from the past few Shrek movies were great as always. It's kind of sad that they won't be doing anymore of these movies, but they have to end at some point. Anyways, I think that this was a really good ending to the Shrek series and that you should see it.

Did You Hear About the Morgans?

I must say, this movie was not as good as the previews looked. I think that this is not as bad as everyone says it is, but it is not a great romantic comedy. One thing I would have liked is for Sarah Jessica Parker to be less annoying. For the first half of the movie, she was so whiny and annoying. However, by the last little bit of the movie, she seemed less annoying. Also, I would have liked a little more action between the couple and the murder. What happens in the movie is the murder kills someone, an hour later, he shows up and shoots some bullets, then he gets hit with a horseshoe. Then, the movie's over. I really would have wanted to have more of that. So, this is not a bad movie. I think that this is a film that you should rent one night when you're feeling like a reasonably good romantic comedy.

Iron Man 2
Iron Man 2(2010)
½

I was really excited when I saw this movie. I really liked the first Iron Man movie and when I saw the preview, I knew that I wanted to see it. So, I saw the movie and I must say, I was impressed. Some sequels to really fantastic movies suck. This one did not suck, but it was not as good as the first superhero movie. I think that a problem in this movie was that there was not as much humor as there was in the first film. Also, there was just something about this movie that just wasn't as good as the first movie. However, I thought that when it was funny, it was funny and the action sequences were rather exciting and intense. I think that people who were fans of the first Iron Man movie will be impressed and that they should go see it.

The Losers
The Losers(2010)

This film is awesome. I knew that I had wanted to see it when I first saw the trailer for it. The previews made the film look amazing and my expectations were met when I saw The Losers. It's not only really action-packed, it's also really funny. A good character in the movie is a guy named Jensen, played by Chris Evans. I thought that he was really funny in the movie. I also thought that the bad guy, Max, played by Jason Patric, was really funny. Some people said that he was so over the top, he couldn't see the bottom. Yes, he was over the top, but he was supposed to be. He IS a bad guy, after all. So yeah, this is a film that you should see. For all those people who said not to see this, I just don't understand. But hey. We all have different opinions.

Showtime
Showtime(2002)

I thought that this was a really funny and action-packed movie. I thought that Robert De Niro was very believable as the guy who didn't fool around with anything and Eddie Murphy was great as the guy who did fool around with anything. He took nothing seriously. I don't get why so many people hated this movie. The action scenes were done very well and the comedic scenes with Robert De Niro and Eddie Murphy were hilarious. One of the best scenes in the movie was when William Shatner was teaching Robert De Niro how to look good on the camera. Honestly, it's funnier when you see it with your own eyes, so just watch Showtime.

Clash of the Titans

I wasn't expecting too much from Clash Of the Titans. I mean, I like action films, but it just didn't look like it was the greatest movie ever. Though, I still saw it. Now, it wasn't terrible, but then again, it wasn't great. Sam Worthington (known for being in James Cameron's Avatar) spent most of the movie walking around talking in some sort of whisper. When he wasn't whispering, he was screaming his head off. The action scenes with scorpions, Medusa and some other weird creatures were pretty cool, but a disappointing scene in the movie was the Kraken. It was supposed to be so exciting and amazing, but it only lasted 2 minutes and it was just pointless. Plus, it didn't need to be in 3D. I think that the whole 3D technique is going downhill very quickly. I mean, they're making the sequel to Cats & Dogs in 3D! Come on! Admit it. That's stupid. So, don't spend any extra money to see this in 3D. See it in theatres, though. It just would look silly on TV in your home.

The Last Song

When I saw this movie, I wasn't really thinking that I would really enjoy it all that much. I was wrong. I enjoyed it. It was fun. Yes, I gave it 60% on this website, but 60% isn't that bad. Some people say that Miley Cyrus wasn't that good in the film. Well, she wasn't terrible, but she wasn't an Oscar winner. I know. Saying Miley Cyrus isn't Oscar worthy is so scandolous. Seriously, people will probably be kind of angry at me for saying that. So what? I'm entitled to my opinion. Anyways, my favourite characters in the movie was the little brother of Miley Cyrus' character and the dad, played by Greg Kinnear. They were both pretty likable. Some people said that Greg Kinnear's performance was just not shaving and not wearing any socks. I disagree. Well, yes, he didn't shave a lot in the movie, but he was really good in the movie. Also, some people said the movie had too much plot. Yes, there were many subplots, but that wasn't really that bad with the movie. So, you're probably thinking, If he's saying so many positive things about The Last Song, why is he giving it 60%? Well, I must say, it was a little too predictable. I knew that someone was going to die. I've seen A Walk To Remember. That was by the same author, Nicholas Sparks. Obviously, someone is going to die. You might be thinking, Hey, he spoiled the movie. Someone dies! Yeah, I sort of spoiled the movie, but you saw it coming. Come on, admit it. Also, at the beginning of the movie, the love interest of Miley Cyrus just seemed kind of creepy because he would keep showing up everywhere Miley Cyrus went and follow her around. Most people would think that's quite sweet, but I think the guy should have just asked Miley Cyrus out. So, if you're extremely sensitive and cry a lot, bring lots of tissues because you might cry at some point. I didn't cry, but then again, I liked the film 1941. Go ahead and cry.

The Tooth Fairy

Dwayne Johnson is a pretty funny guy. I know this because I've seen him in this one film called The Game Plan as the football player who finds out he has a kid. That film was better. The jokes in this movie were jokes that I may have found funnier when I was 5 or maybe even younger. The best part was Billy Crystal, but he was in the movie for about 3 or 4 minutes. However, that was not the only great part. There was another person in the film who would keep an eye on Dwayne Johnson and him and Johnson were always bickering. But, even though it wasn't a great movie, it was still interesting to watch. I don't think that this is a film that anyone should pay money to see, but I think that maybe if you could watch this on a movie channel, it would be worth watching.

The Men Who Stare at Goats

A really funny and well made movie. It was sort of weird humor, but it wasn't just a comedy. In fact, there was one scene that was quite disturbing that I won't spoil. The one problem was the last 3 seconds of the film (which I won't spoil, either). I think George Clooney and Ewan McGregor are really good actors. I think it's a film that you should spend money on. Rent it on DVD or maybe even buy it.

The Sasquatch Gang
½

I thought this was a really funny movie. I like Justin Long and even though practically everyone else in the movie were unknown stars, I thought that everyone was good in their roles. The humor was very awkward and I liked how that even though the scenes were sort of confusing, they still lead to something that happened before, so you viewers better pay attention so you can know what's going on. When I first heard about this film, I thought it was going to be something that I would start to watch, then turn off because it was too rude and I also thought that it wasn't going to be a good movie. However, I was wrong. It's a very small film, but it's a film that people should go the video store for and rent it. If it's not at your video store, check if it's on TV.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

This is a very clever movie. It had a lot of odd humor, but a lot of people have said that Wes Anderson has a very odd sense of humor. It was exciting, funny and creative. I like the claymation technique, I liked the book by Roald Dahl and I loved the humor. I don't know if everyone would like this movie because they might not get the humor sometimes, but that doesn't really matter. If you like weird, animated, funny, claymation films, then you will have a blast.

Valentine's Day
½

I saw this film on Valentine's Day (no, I was not on a date with a girl) and I thought it was really funny and romantic. The characters were very interesting and did their part very well. One person in the Toronto Star was implying that Taylor Swift wasn't that good in this film. I thought she was quite funny in this film. This is a great romantic comedy that a couple should see, well, on Valentine's Day.

Lassie Come Home

Lassie Come Home isn't the greatest film ever, but it was worth watching. I thought Roddy McDowall was a cute little kid and Lassie was a beautiful dog. I thought it was fun watching the dog escape each time it was put in Elizabeth Taylor's home. However, I didn't understand why the dog had to leave. Well, it has been a few years since I've seen the film, but I bet it will tell me in the movie. I think that this is a film for people who like films about animals and a kid trying to cope without his wonderful, loving dog.

All of Me
All of Me(1984)
½

Before I watched this film, I was expecting something much better than what I got. This film wasn't the funniest, I was kind of feeling like dozing off at some points and I don't know, it was just missing something. Though, Carl Reiner did make Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid and I must say, that wasn't the greatest film either. Both that and All Of Me have the same problem. It has a great concept, but it just doesn't work. When my mom told me what All Of Me was about, I thought it sounded like a great film and I would have loved to see it. However, I was not as impressed as I thought it would be. It's a film that I would recommend seeing, but see it on your TV (if it ever comes on). It's not worth spending your money on.

500 Days of Summer

This is the best film I've seen so far in my whole, entire life. It's funny, sad, romantic and weird. The humor was great, the chemistry was believable and when things were sad, they were quite sad. Usually, when a character is sad about a breakup, they don't usually go out to buy twinkies in their bathrobe, yelling at couples to get a room. Anyone who hates this movie doesn't know what they're talking about. I mean, come on! It's got pretty much everything in it! In fact, it has a bar fight. Joseph Gordon Levitt beats up a guy who is hitting on his girlfriend, but the guy gives Joseph Gordon Levitt a black eye. If you like these kind of films with a little bit of everything, you'll be quite a satisfied person.

Alice Upside Down
½

It was a pretty good movie. The reason I watched this movie was because I had seen an advertisement of it on YTV and it looked kind of interesting, so I decided to watch it. It was a fun little direct to DVD film. It made me curious to read the books. Maybe I'll get the books out of the library sometime. It kind of made me squirm because of what would happen to the Alice girl, but not everything goes right for the main character. Don't worry. It all ended well. I thought it was kind of funny, too. My favourite line was: ``What impression are you going to give your teachers if you're dressed like a homeless person?''

Hope Floats
Hope Floats(1998)

A nice little movie. I thought it was cute and fun. It was sad, though. Sandra Bullock's best friend admits that she slept with Sandra Bullock's husband on TV. Man, that's a bummer. It was kind of a funny movie. I liked the little boy who was staying with the grandma who was very odd in his behavior (eg. acting like a dog). The chemistry between Sandra Bullock and Harry Connick Jr. was okay, but not the most interesting romance ever. It's not a great, Oscar worthy film, but it's a nice, sweet, little romance that is worth renting or seeing on television.

Before I had seen this movie, I had been really looking forward to seeing it. My expectations were really high for what this movie would be like and my expectations were met. The special effects were totally cool. I loved the disaster scenes like the one where a train comes out of a tunnel and explodes, John Cusack and his family escape in a stretch limo as the world is ripping open right behind them. Another thing I liked was Woody Harrelson as the radio broadcaster who gets crushed by a meteor. He was very funny and weird. On that note, I'm going to say that some of the comic relief in this film was very good. Some people didn't like this film and I don't know why. Don't listen to them. Go by my opinion and see this movie.

Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief

This was a really good movie, even though it was quite far from the book. The special effects were amazing, the kid who played Percy Jackson was great and the humor was pretty good. However, even though the Grover character was likable and funny, he wasn't as funny as the character in the book. Also, they left out the daughter of Ares and made the daughter of Athena character seem like Ares' daughter and her hair was black. In the book, the hair was blonde. Plus, Luke, the son of Hermes, had a scar when he first met Percy Jackson in the book. In the movie, Percy whacks Luke on the face with a sword and gives Luke the scar. Also, Luke lets out a scorpion to kill Percy and for a few days, Percy is knocked out. In this film, Percy defeats Luke. Also, a friend pointed out to me that the Hydra monster wasn't introduced until the second book. This film is based on the first book. It's a good action/comedy/road trip film for kids, teens and heck, if the adults are fans of this kind of stuff, they'll like it, too. I'd watch it again, but it's not my favourite film, but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets nominated for an Academy Award for Best Special Effects at the Oscars next year.
