Max Payne
Max Payne (2008)
7 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

First let me just say Max Payne should have been rated R. No, the version in theaters right now should be PG-13, but they should have kept the movie rated R. Yes, it probably would have gotten less money in the box office, but the game is rated M and I loved both games. The movie itself wasn?t bad, but it could have been way better.

Max Payne is played by Mark Wahlberg (The Departed), a cop who is trying to find the killer who killed his wife and baby. Mona Sax is played by Mila Kunis (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), a rich girl looking for her sister?s killer. (Seriously, they really don?t tell us who she really is.) Lt. Jim Bravura is played by Chris ?Ludacris? Bridges (Crash). BB Hensley played by Beau Bridges (The Good German), the boss of Max Payne?s wife. Chris O?Donnell (Vertical Limits) who has maybe 7 minutes of screen time playing Jason Colvin. Donal Logue (Ghost Rider), who apparently gets killed in ever movie he stars in, plays Alex Balder, Max?s old partner. Last but not least Amaury Nolasco (Transformers) plays Jack Lupino, the bad guy of the movie? Damn that?s a lot of actors.

The story of the movie has little to do with the game. Just like every video game movie out there, they have to alter it so they can make everyone happy. It really doesn?t work, but there our some pretty impressive scenes in the movie. I don?t want to spill the beans on anything, but the last 30 or so minutes of the movie is really, really good. The first half is pretty slow, and a little disappointing. Over all, the movie was worth it. Max Payne is not the best movie based on a game, but the action and slow motion in the movie was really good, when it was going on. All in all see it if you are a fan of the game, if not see it if you want to watch a different type of action movie.

Quantum of Solace
7 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Quantum of Solace is the 22nd Bond film made, and it is the 2nd Daniel Craig Bond. Some people are already calling him one of the best Bonds of all times, behind Sean Connery. I have to agree. I love the new Bond and the new direction. No more Bond in bed with every girl he meets, no more crazy/stupid gadgets, no more invisible cars with rocket launchers. The new Bond is great, but Casino Royale does everything, right. Quantum of Solace does? mostly.

Quantum of Solace stars Daniel Craig (The Golden Compass) who plays James Bond of course, a mean killing machine. We have two Bond girls in this one. The first is Gemma Arterton (RocknRolla) who plays Strawberry Fields, and the other Bond girl is Olga Kurylenko (Max Payne) who plays Camille. Mathieu Amalric (Munich) who plays Dominic Greene, plays as the villain who wants desert land to take all of the oil. Last but not least the film features Judi Dench (Goldeneye-Quantum of Solace) who plays M.

Quantum of Solace is a great movie, but with every great movie there are flaws. There really were not a lot of flaws but the main problem was the action, no the action was great; I guess you have to blame it on the editing. The action was very jumpy and hard to follow at sometimes. The scene in the trailer where Bond falls though the roof, the action after that is very fast and it is hard to see who is who. That was the main flaw; another would be how Bond seemed like a robot in this one unlike the Casino Royale Bond, all he wanted in this one was revenge. The positives were the action. The action was fast paced and non-stop and fun to watch. Critics are saying this can be a sequel to a Bourne film, I can see what they mean with the camera, but that?s about it.

Over all, it?s a wonderful movie, has great action, great acting, and great set pieces. This movie might be on my top ten of the year, yes it was that good. On it is at 66% and top critics are at I believe 35%. The top critics are crap they want there old Bond, which in my opinion is too over the top like in Die Another Day. Also one critic said Bond isn?t an action star, leave the action to Bourne. What the HELL does he mean? What has James Bond been the past 22 films? I don?t know just watch the movie because it is awesome.

Role Models
Role Models (2008)
7 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Role Models is one great comedy. It is not as funny as Superbad, Pineapple Express, or Knocked Up, but in a lot of themes and elements, it is a better movie. Role Models story is actually very strong, and feels like a real world movie. Role Models also has a good moral story and I believe you will be seeing this on the top ten list for sure.

Role Models stars Paul Rudd (Knocked Up) he plays the depressed Danny Donahue. Danny?s kid he has to role model is Augie Farks, who is played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad), a nerd in love with the battle game ?LAIR.? Seann William Scott (American Pie 1-3) plays Wheeler, a happy dude who loves life. Wheeler?s kid is Ronnie Shields who is played by Bobbe J. Thompson (Fred Claus), a loud-mouth kid who cusses. Also Elizabeth Banks (Zach and Miri Make a Porno) is in the film plays Beth, Danny?s ex-girlfriend and lawyer.

As for Role Models story, from the trailer you can already tell what the story is about, but you have to see it in theaters to get the real picture. The movie is actually deeper then you think. The movie has a lot of heart, just like Knocked Up and The 40 Year Old Virgin. The movie has the heart, but does it have the comedy, and the answer is yes, yes it does. The jokes don?t get throne out like Superbad, but they do come and they are hilarious.

Short review, I know, but there really isn?t a lot to explain about this movie. The movie is about being a Role Model, and that is about it, and it might sound like a weak story plot, it isn?t. At I believe it is at 75% and for a comedy to be that high on is pretty rare. All in all a rare comedy that delivers all of the goods and never really screws up.
