What a beautiful surprise this wonderful film was. I loved everything about it and I know it will stay with me forever. Much more than entertainment, a gentle, exciting lesson of life for us all. Please do not miss this one.
Having seen 2 of Lynn Ramsey's past films, "We need to talk about Kevin" and " The Ticket" I was aware of her unique style. Almost dreamlike with a large dose of horror and shock when you are held captive to her pace and slowly developing story. This film was also in this deliberate style and must have been a very demanding film for all the characters. This is one you may have to see twice before you get the whole thing, but it is so entertaining and adictive that it is well woeth the time.
If there was ever a time when we needed Mr. Rogers it is now! Common decency and an understanding that our children are not being given a solid foundation of love and caring for others...including themselves. Please see this mesmerizing film. The answers are right in front of us. Time for less violence in toys and games and the beauty of the imagination with more simple toys and games. This movie is truly a treasure.
Hilarious and incredibly written farce on the death of a dictator. This one ranks up there with the best of Woody Allen.
Thrilling, smart, well written and photography that has no peer. Melissa George is amazing as well as all around her in this under rated film.
Now this was a true to life depiction of the west and how violent, beautiful and challenging it must have been. Christian Bale is one of the very best in film today and here they have surrounded him with stellar performances and cinematography unmatched. Critics have said it was slow but I saw it as deliberate and full of true human emotion. A wonderful escape to a time long ago when we first began to find our way and lessons to be used today in finding our way back..
Ricky Gervais is an amazing comedic mind, but he also can reveal a very human side. Tea Leoni.....well she is just HOT and a fine actress. I don't know how I missed this when it came out but better late than never. A wonderful, familiar story done in a unique way. Just let it be what it is and you will be entertained and touched,
Not exactly a feel good movie, but if you like true to life drama it is a worthwhile, well done film. Could not ask for better performances and the message is a good one loud and clear. Each day is a blessing and be a haver not a wanter.
An amazing slice of history and the human spirit. At times one forgets they are watching animation and peering into the human soul. Happiness, sorrow, bonds and family have never been more POIGNANTLY presented. A real STUNNER!
Bruce lee...Jet Lee...Robert E. Lee....there is only one fucking Jackie Chan! At 62 years old he still is the best and most entertaining. I loved this film. Pierce Brosnan...wonderful as usual and a supporting cast par excellence! Stunts and fight scenes were very well done and the script and story far superior than most in this genre. You will love this one.
What a great performance by Jessica Rothe! I hope...no, I know we will see more of her. A great little, well written B movie...and I say that with a long adoration of B flics. This one is top notch. Well written story and well crafted direction. This was a good surprise indeed!
I have seen thousands of movies but a mere handful register the highest marks in every imaginable category. The Shape Of Water does that running away. A fairy tale, a thriller, a love story ( had me choking back tears many times) and even a comedy. I can not imagine anyone that has ever been in love not adoring this film. It will stay with me forever.
I am a Vietnam vet 1968-1969. This film is one of few films that will stand as truth among the lies and deceit that caused this horrific tragedy. They are lies yet to be understood or punished which leaves the few of us left to tell the story still asking WHY? Seems our government and even most of our citizens want this event to go away, but if it goes away without answers and penance I will wager it will happen again. We have been at war for most of our existence. It is time for peace.
I did not go into this film thinking it was "Mary Poppins" however I watch movies to be entertained This one just made me feel real bad. Also there is a HUGE continuity hole right in the center of this movie. The antagonist ( bad cop) was a PATROLMAN. The lowest ranking person on the fioce. and here he is taking charge over all the cops and the National guard and able to run amuck with his facist anger. Had they made hin a Captain or even a Sergeant his role would have been more plausible. If you want to be put in a horrible mood then see Detroit. Otherwise, let them show it in schools to show the evil that can come from racism. .
Since this one came out I kind of avoided it thinking it was another Xmas rip off to make a buck on the holiday. I was so wrong! Not only is this very well acted and produced it has a really well thought out story line dealing with 4 separate vignettes that come together well at the end. See this one! It will become a classic!
I have never been a huge Star Wars fan although I was always impressed with the creativity and of course the CGI. I may be alone on this one but to me Valerian has all the hoopla and fanship covered and done better. An easy story line to follow and the best cinematographic design and creative sound presentation I have ever seen. Scene after scene has wow factors off the chart and color execution unsurpassed. See this one and tell me I am wrong. The hell with the critics. This one is the bomb!
Anyone that has an interest in cinematography should not miss this one. Every shot is filled with a visual sense of wonder and captivates one even if there are flaws inherent in the film. Imagination of presentation is in every shot. Can't count the Wows in this one they come so often. To say the least a unique film indeed.
Bad writing, bad acting, poor photography, awful direction, but other than that it was terrific! Really a stinker.
Michael Shannon is worth the price of admission alone and Poots is sultry and commands the screen. Good little story shot well with a very good score. This one goes in unsuspected places.
