Daniel's Review of 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days
An interesting film with a very well-performing cast. 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 days makes a very obvious point about life in communist Romania and is touching in places. The camerawork works well to involve you with the film, however the long shots do become tiresome as style becomes favoured over quality. The film can be touching in places, but only when seen as an objective view of people in this sort of situation; otherwise the sheer idiocy of some of the characters' actions and dull, irritating moods makes it very hard to become involved with the characters and give the full effect intended.
Overall this is a film which had a lot of potential and performed well, but the entertainment value is through the floor and I, personally, found it thoroughly unenjoyable. Each to his own though, it's still worth a look.
