Absolute GARBAGE in every conceivable way. The emperor has no clothes here. Nonsensical plot and underdeveloped motives leave the viewer perplexed and wanting their hard earned money back. Thank god the two characters mercifully decide to end it all so this dog of a film could be put down. All these gushing reviews are strong evidence that someone is buying fake favorable reviews in bulk. So glad my great grandparents never looked back when they left Poland. Can’t fathom them reconsidering this decision for one second, unlike these two idiots. Hmmm...Paris or the gulag?
Perhaps it was too close to home to this old fart. Clint was phenomenal imo. This could have easily been hokey and melodramatic, but I found it near pitch perfect. I’m told that it’s supposedly quite autobiographical. It is based on a real article. It both moved me and made me laugh, which Hollywood fails to do 95% of the time these days. Since the main reason I go to the movies is to be moved, I give it a near perfect 4.5/5 stars.
OK for what it is. Could have done without Meryl Streep personally. Movie loosely mirrors the original (trade chimney sweeps for gas lamp lighters). Original kids grown up now but Mary hasn’t aged. Your kids will love it. Well done but I was poppined out at 2 hours. 3/5 stars for me.
Nauseatingly PC. Historically a joke. Chinese & blacks in 16th century Scotland/England? For example, a gay black man as a queen’s matron no less, and, of course they murder him unjustly. You can almost see them winking at the audience. And plot? Well let’s just say when two hours had passed they wrap things up laughably quick with screen narration and credits. Not even cable-worthy. One star seems generous.
Made me laugh a few times, but overall disappointing. Did like the acting, especially the queen. Overall I deem it cable-worthy, but not “my favorite” for a day at the theater.
