Kiera's Review of A Modern Affair
A Modern Affair(1995)
Here's the concept-- High-powered woman wants to have a baby, and, having given up on men, decides to visit a sperm bank. She "falls in love" with donor #247, gets pregnant, and sets out to find the man behind the sperm. Although, as you can guess, the only way this can be accomplished is in a creepy, supremely unethical sort of way.
It's been awhile since I've seen acting this dreadful. I am speaking, of course, for Lisa Eichhorn, who plays said high-powered woman. I don't believe I've watched her in anything else, but she was just so... terrible. Every line she uttered was completely perfunctory. And being in scenes with Mr. Stanley Tucci only made it more obvious.
But our leading lady is not the only lackluster component. The script incredibly dull, manufactured. The music is extremely dated. The whole atmosphere was so bland.
I must admit that the only reason I watched this was Stanley Tucci and I supposed I would like it, for that reason... but I was wrong!
