Man of Steel
Man of Steel(2013)

Best movie of the Summer so far.

Jack the Giant Slayer
½

Some good effects but pretty weak story.

Total Recall
Total Recall(2012)

Run, Catch, Escape. Start over. That's all this movie is.

Orphan
Orphan(2009)

I hate movies that insult your intelligent; who make characters stupid just to move the plot along. Someone has to be the character that chooses not to believe that this little evil character IS evil. The wife sees it, the kids see it but the Dad refuses to believe this little girl is causing all this trouble that is going on around them.
The music cues told me when to be scare and most of the time they were misleading me because it's a "Fake Out." When you depend on those for your scares, you are in trouble and this movie relies on that to make you think it's a roller coaster ride.

The Human Centipede (First Sequence)

I have to say until today, I had never seen anyone's mouth sewn to someone else's butt hole and to see one guy eat and the get rid of what he ate in the Girls mouth sewn behind him was just grotesque. This wasn't scary, the characters (even the cops) were dumb and the ending is unsatisfying.
If you like this movie you should check yourself in for a Psych Evaluation.

Land of the Lost

Grew up watching the show and though it was cheesy it had an interesting story about a family being thrown back in time.
So what do the writers do, throw the family dynamic away, keep the names and cast Will Ferrel. What we get are some cool plot threads taken from the show about Sleestacks and Dinosaurs and add a bunch of humor you don't need and you get another Summer Movie aimed at the average age of 10-15 (who weren't even alive during the original show).
This movie is obviously made by a bunch of studio executives who think that each of their input will make the movie a Big Hollywood Hit.

The A-Team
The A-Team(2010)

This movie does everything it sets out to do. Be Macho and blowin' up things for 2 hours. Its mind numbing and the camera work is chaotic but that's what audiences what these days. right?
If it weren't for the eye candy of Bradley Cooper and Patrick Wilson, it would be a total wash.

The Collector

I love the gore in movies sometimes too. Was raised on slasher flicks but when does a slasher flick stop being a slasher flick and turn into a glorified torture porn movie.
It's not good enough that you see someone get stabbed or killed but you have to focus on them sewing someones lips up or pulling razor blades out of their skin. That's gross but not scary.
Not much of a plot, everyone is just there to due and does anyone make it out alive? Of course not, the killer wins and we are set up for a sequel.
Ughhh.

Logan's Run
Logan's Run(1976)

This may 70's cheesy but the story is better than most blockbusters around today with all the jazzy computer graphics.
Loved when I saw it originally in the theater and still enjoy it today. I just wish there was a Directors cut. I remember reading that they had to cut the film down for censors. Apparently the extra footage was lost.

Watchmen
Watchmen(2009)
½

The thinking mans Superhero movie with interesting characters and wonderful special effects.

Broadcast News
½

Not only is this movie about friendship and love but it was able to predict back in 1987 that Television news and TV would not be about news so much as it is about Entertainment. Fluff stories from the likes of shows like Entertainment Tonight and Extra.
Great performances all around and a wonderful script from James L. Brooks.

Breaking Away
½

Wonderful movie about growing up in Indiana. Strong performances and award winning script make this a must see.

The Big Chill
½

I remember seeing this in the theater and loving the script and the acting. Simple story follows a group of friends and their relationships. It's funny, it's moving and it says a lot about friendships and how they evolve.
If you like character pieces than this is for you.

Star Trek
Star Trek(2009)
½

Growing up with Star Trek during reruns, I was skeptical about this because I know how Hollywood can be with reboots and remakes. But, this was pretty damn good with a good take on the characters and some good acting as well. For fans and no fans.

Where the Wild Things Are

One of my favorite movies of 2009 and one of the most underrated. I have read a lot of people saying that it is not a movie for kids. Well, no, it is a movie about growing up and it is very well done.

Avatar
Avatar(2009)
½

Pretty effects but the story is pretty sub-par. Not much of a story and not much character development.
A bit overrated and nowhere near the greatness of Watchmen.

A Single Man
A Single Man(2009)
½

Wonderful movie with wonderful characters.
This is not so much a gay movie but about people struggling with the loss of a loved one. Beautiful story and wonderful direction By Tom Ford.

The Twilight Saga: New Moon

I read the first book and thought it was horrible but rented Twilight hoping they made the movie a better. Not so. This second movie was as bad if not worse than the other one. Bad acting, horrible and shallow script and no chemistry between anyone.
Do young girls really need a role model like this? A needy girl who not only needs a Man to be whole but someone is ready to die in order to be with this person she barely knows.
So what happens in this movie? Not a whole lot. Everyone is super emotional and you can't really figure out why. Bella dumps Wolf boy for Vampire boy at the end. After Vampire Boy takes off to Europe.
Lame.
You want to see a good Vampire love story? Rent Buffy the Vampire Slayer or watch Vampire Diaries.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Another hollow Big Hollywood Blockbuster with no redeeming qualities other than the colorful special effects.
