If you can get past the terrible accent Natalie Portman wears in this masterpiece it's a fantastic movie written with superb dialogue.
One of generation X's first great movies.
One of the best comic book movies you will see. Strong performances from the likes of Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner and of course Henry Cavill. At some point tomatoe meter has to stop posting the "professional" critics consensus and start leading with the ALWAYS more accurate audience score. The fact that Captain Underpants and The Toxic Avenger made their list of the 72 best comic book movies of all time and Man Of Steel didn't is an indictment in and of itself.
The movie did as good a job as possible wrapping up the Skywalker saga. It's not perfect but it's fun and has some great moments. The action is top notch as you would expect. My biggest gripe is the misleading title. The movie does seem to take some easy creative liberties to tie up stories but it's done well and enjoyable the whole way through. If you enjoyed episodes VII and VIII you will enjoy episode IX. As usual the critics are off their meds and the audience score is pretty spot on. Also this movie is even more enjoyable the second time through.
With such an amazing library of material to draw from, it was difficult to reconcile why they would choose to turn to completely unnecessary experimental musical numbers with an actor who was not capable of carrying them when they could have fallen back on the music we all love so much.
