Rating History

Twilight (2008)
8 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

I am something of a connoisseur when it comes to vampire movies.

Twilight is NOT a vampire movie.

It's "the OC". With vampires.

And for one thing, if I want to watch a depressed, pale sulky guy I'll just go to a My Chemical Romance concert! Oh, look at Edward, he's deep and brooding!

Bella is maybe the most boring, thinly veiled version of Mary Sue that I have ever seen in my life.

Juno (2007)
8 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Though this movie certainly does not deserve its 93% tomatometer rating I do understand why so many people disagree with me. Juno is undeniably clever, funny and simply way over the heads of most viewers who took pleasure in it.

That said, Juno is a cute, clever and funny movie with realistic characters and a very real storyline. Granted.

Juno is also an over-pop-culture-friendly flick with clever - just for the sake of being clever - quips every ten seconds. I admit, it's funny... just really tiring in parts.

Even so, I enjoyed Juno. It certainly keeps moving at a good pace and lets you get to really know the characters.

I give this movie 80%. I would go to 85% but the tomatometer doesn't allow for that and I don't believe in rounding up to make people feel better.

That said, Juno is fun and certainly worthy of my DVD shelf.
