Mad Max: Fury Road

Two hours of unrelenting noise and violence, with none of the character and humor that made Road Warrior or Beyond Thunderdome worthwhile. If your idea of a great concert is one song played over and over at top volume, this is the film for you.

½

The emperor has no clothes. While Keaton's performance is certainly stellar, the film itself is pretentious twaddle. It felt like nothing so much as a rather talented high school film student trying to demonstrate how profound and clever he can be. ("Oh, I know, lets have the street drummer appear in the theater." "Oooh, telekinesis!") The only person I did not get really tired of seeing was Zach G. I don't appreciate being lectured in the middle of a film as to how anti-intellectual I am if I dislike the film. Add to that one of the most annoying "musical" soundtracks in cinema history, and it adds up to two hours I will never get back.
