I found it more enjoyable with a better plot than the first Thor movie. However, Thor is still one of the weaker movie series in the Marvel Comics Universe. Derek Borcherding Cincinnati OH
Grown Ups is anything but. Typical Adam Sandler fair, it relies on childish jokes and gags. I was disappointed with this missed opportunity for some very funny actors to get together and provide a sincere, heartwarming performance that delves into the humorous side of parenthood and becoming an adult. Unfortunately, Grown Ups still needs to grow up a little. Derek Borcherding, Cincinnati, Ohio.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse movie is much more action-packed and amusing than New Moon, but it also provides plenty of romance for the teenage girl crowd. Bella is faced with important decisions, including whether to marry Edward and become a vampire or take the easy route and be with Jacob. In the meantime, Victoria is plotting her revenge with a vampire army in Seattle. Eclipse climaxes with a vampire/ werewolf war, and of course, Bella is in mortal danger once again. Eclipse is a great continuation of the Twilight Saga. Derek Borcherding, Cincinnati, OH.
Pelham is an exciting edge-of-your-seat suspense movie. Travolta originally comes off as a nut who hijacks a subway train, but we gradually learn that this is a well-organized heist with ulterior motives. Washington seems to be an ordinary subway dispatcher who is having a very bad day, but we soon find that there is much more to his story, too. While this movie will not win any awards, the interactions between Washington and Travolta provide solid entertainment.
This was a cute and heartwarming romantic comedy. As a native Iowan (Minnesota's southern neighbor), I found the portrayal of small town Minnesotans to be fairly accurate, both in their attitudes, hobbies, and accents. Zellweger plays a prissy executive who gets sent to Minnesota to run, and later shut-down, a small-town factory. At first, the locals don't trust her and try to drive her off. But eventually, Zellweger becomes part of the community, and they all band together to save the factory. The romance between Zellweger and Connick is secondary, but it does add some of the more amusing scenes to the movie. This is a great date-night rental. Women and girls of all ages should love it, and even men should enjoy it.
