This movie surprised me with how awesome it was. I think it was the best animated feature of 2019. But I haven't seen that many either... But nonetheless this is in the top 3 spiderman movies ever.
I wouldn't say this was a bad movie. I thought it was decent. But then again.... SPOILERS!!!!! I enjoy the idea of simulation theory. It didn't really fit as well as it was supposed to. It was kind of meh.
I am in the minority on this one. I thought this movie was overly silly. It reminded me too much of Power Rangers from the 90's from my childhood. It didn't have any real moral story to tell. Great movies have good messages in them. I don't really think this was aiming at being a great movie. But even the "fun" stuff that people describe... I found dumb or cheesy. This was pretty close to the failings of Suicide Squad in my personal opinion when comparing it to the other EDCU movies. I was looking forward to this movie originally especially when I heard that James Wan was directing. But ultimately it was a letdown for me and my wife both. But she didn't have high hopes to begin with.
I may be swayed by the fact that it was nominated for best picture. But I thought the videography, the acting, the script, the costume design was all on point. I found many parts humorous even laughing out loud several times. I don't normally watch period pieces. I've started seeing some just because my wife enjoys the genre. This may be the best I've seen thus far. Except for maybe the Kubrick one. I feel I should go back and watch that movie now that I've seen this movie. I agree with this movie being nominated for best picture. I think it is more deserving than Blackkklansman and Bohemian Rhapsody. I liked those movies, but they aren't in my personal top 8 movies of the year. The Favourite was a pleasure. Emma Stone is really becoming probably the best actress of her generation.
