Shutter Island

This film will be pleasing to the majority which apparently are satisfied with anti-climatic endings. This is a very slow moving movie which is only bearable because of the anticipation for the big ending which never happens. Leo does a wonderful job portraying a man completely confused with reality, and keeps the audience guessing. Scorsese directed this movie as well as it could of been done. Unfortunately this movie was never able to live up to all the suspense that had been building up for 2 hours and forty minutes. It fizzles rather than exploding at the end. This movie is the antithesis of the Sixth Sense.
I suggest watching this movie, but dont expect a classic. Expect an average movie with above average acting.

Zombieland

Zombieland, was absolutely hysterical. The casting for the movie was perfect. The actors complimented each other very well. The writing was original and entertaining. All in all a very enjoyable movie. The only issue I have, and it wasn't even with the movie. Jesse Eisenburg needs to know its not ok to completely copy someones acting style. Michael Cera needs to to collect some royalty checks for the amount of acting plagiarism that is going on...It should be illegal. Aside from that little problem. Great movie with plenty of laughs.

Bakjwi (Thirst)

This movie reminded me of a marathon. To watch this movie you needed patience and extreme endurance. Aside from the awful special effects, the story lacked any substance. I would have to say that this movie borders on just being silly. I understand there is a cultural divide, but I've seen foreign films before that were good and this is not one of those films. I usually don't recommend not watching something, but on this particular movie I'm hoping to do a few a favor by saying to avoid it at all costs... unless you want to stare at a screen for three hours and receive nothing at the end. By no means is this movie poetic. The conflict the main character feels by being a vampire was barely apparent. I truly did not enjoy this film at all.

The Hurt Locker

½

When I think of this movie, I think fresh. Kathryn Bigelow's, vision of Iraq and the technicians of the bomb squad are truly intense. The cinematography is very unique, especially in the explosion scenes. This movie was made to watch on a blu-ray player.
Although, the entire film is very exciting, the plot does take an anti-climatic turn towards the end. Aside from the soft ending this movie is definitely one to watch, and hopefully on your blu-ray.

Dear John
Dear John (2010)

This movie starts out well, but as it moves along it never allows the audience to connect to any character, or conflict. Channing Tatum, is a an actor getting by on his looks.I dont think that any actor has ever had fewer lines, and still managed to bomb a performance like Channing Tatum did. Maybe in his next role he can play a chiseled mute, and he will be giving the audience exaclty what they want to see. A good looking actor, not a good looking actor making his awful attempt to portray emotion. This movie only did well due to high expectations from those which read the book. I have felt more connected to movies with animals as the main cahracter. I recommend no one watch this movie that is actually expecting a tear jerker. Rent Air-Bud instead, and you will have more of a connection with the Golden retriever than you will with Channing Tatum.
