James' Review of The Descent 2
The Descent 2(2009)
The Descent 2 doesn't have a memorable and strong build-up like the first one did, but Part 2 goes all out to scare the living daylights out of you, and it works! The jolts of shock are more frequent, the tension in the air is even more unbearable and the Crawlers are even more bloodthirsty, but they look more human like which is a shame and a change to the first film. Although Shauna McDonald's character Sarah doesn't develop anymore, she still features the same warrior like/survival skills that she gained in the first. Natalie Mendoza as Juno kicks ass and looks good all at the same time as she comes back to finish off the nightmare she is trapped in. The new additions to the cast pull if off spectacularly, most noticeably Krysten Cummings and Anna Skellern who come across as the most strong willed to fight and get out of the caves. Fans of the first Descent will be extremely satisfied with Part 2, it goes deeper into fear and bloodier with gore, and the climax is one of the most dramatic ends in a horror I've ever seen, you'll either feel sad or be blown away.
