James' Review of Chernobyl Diaries
What a fantastic idea setting a horror in Pripyat, Chernobyl. It is a unique premise and it works so well as there is always a cold chill and atmosphere hanging in the air. Chernobyl Diaries follows a group of young adults on an extreme tourism trip in Pripyat, abandoned after the Reactor disaster many years ago. Of course, they are not alone. This movie is absolutely frightening, you'll feel unsettled even in the daylights scenes, it's hard to keep looking as you don't know what will pop up next. Mutants and vicious dogs stalk the empty alleys and tunnels of Pripyat, taking down the tourists one by one in brutal ways. The cast are fantastic, this found footage/documentary type horror features some of the best acting I've seen in a film of this type, they are utterly convincing and they weren't annoying like the lot in Blair Witch Project or Grave Encounters 2. Chernobyl Diaries is brilliant, from the story, the setting, the young cool cast, some truly terrifying images and moments of utter terror, it will freak the heck out of you.
