The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1
2 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

The Hunger Games: MockingJay Part 1 is a set up slow pace of the second half of the final chapter of the adapted novel. The movie stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, Josh Hutcherson as Peeta, Liam Hemsworth as Gale, Julianne Moore Philip Seymore Hoffman as Plutarch and Woody Harrelson as Haymitch. It picks up exactly where the last movie left off and from that point the movie becomes a propaganda/political thriller with much more talk than action or even strategy. And when the action sequence starts it does not last for a very long at all.

The fun part about the movie watching the amount of talents in one silver screen, however not ever y character in this movie delivers. Liam Hemsworth character is completely dry and sour to watch. Peeta (Josh Hutchrson) is one of the best part of the movie, his character is one of the most memorable characters in the story, especially in this movie as well as Katniss "The Hanging Tree" is one of the most moving and emotional parts. The visual effects are a nice touch, they have improved throughout the years as the franchise's budget has grown. I was slightly disappointed that the movie was divided in two parts because let us be honest here it does not need to be a two part movie, it doesn't contain enough to be divided in two part and thinking about that through the whole film I could not enjoy the film because I know it did not need to be a two part film.

The movie is not an extravagant movie experience but it does get the audience engage and wanting more by the end of the movie I do hope that Part II will bring all of its best qualities to the big screen with the director's special touch.

At the end The Hunger Games: MockingJay Part 1 is the weakest in the franchise but stands out to be strong in a new direction. It is different and good on its own

Score: 8.5/10

Foxcatcher (2014)
2 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Foxcatcher is one of 2014 best film. Steve Carell gives a tremendous performance as John du Pont who was the coach of real life Olympic Gold Medal-winner Wrestler Mark Schultz played Channing Tatum and brother David Schultz played by Mark Ruffalo

The movie is directed by Bennett Miller who also did Moneyball and Capote. The entire cast gives a great performance and Channing Tatum and Steve Carell are the two who really stand out the most in the film. The movie has a chilling creepy vibe to it which really does work with the true story and the characters. I am definitely looking forward to see how far and how well this movie does during the Oscar season.
