I finally got to watch this on Netflix, and it is just an absolutely amazing Movie. It does show you all the Opulence and Wealth as the Title suggests, and at times it did sort of almost feel like a Tourism Promotion Video for Singapore and Malaysia.
But just as you start getting tired of seeing all of those and starting to feel things are getting a bit too shallow or pretentious, it starts unloading the heavy stuff about the Pitfalls associated with such Wealth.
The infighting, Intrigues, Ego, etc. it all comes out for the Viewers to see. And it doesn't overdo things, it does them just about right.
The Acting overall was really, really good, but I thought that Constance Wu as Rachel Chu really stood out, her simple and yet Intelligent Strength to overcome everything that was thrown at her was very important to the Film.
Truly a Must-Watch Movie for me, it deserves all the hype and accolades that it got.
Just saw this on Netflix, and it is a pretty good and effective Action Thriller. The Action Scenes were great and some nice twists.
My guess is that the reason it didn't score well with the Critics is because it is not Politically Correct, like it highlighted too much the corruption within the Mexican Police and the illegal Border Crossing controlled by the Cartel.
So ignore the Liberal Critics, this is a great Film to watch and enjoy.
Outstanding!! A very entertaining Coming of Age, Adventure, Mystery Movie. The Characters are interesting, varied and detailed, with a good Mystery layered with the struggles Feminist Rights during the Victorian Era.
Henry Cavill and Sam Claflin played an important but mainly secondary role in the Movie, as it should be. Millie Bobby Brown carried the Movie on her slim, young Shoulders, and she carried it very well.
If Stranger Things made her a Series Star, Enola Holmes will make her Movie Star. A Must Watch for me, one of the better Films I have seen this Year.
I think this Movie would've been great, but there's a part in the middle about the Policeman's Storyline that I felt got a little bit convoluted and didn't understand very much.
The Storytelling and Characterizations in the first half was excellent though, and it had some nice twists near the end. At worst it is pretty good, Human Interest Movie that could've been great.
Nice to know in the End Credits that the Author of the Book the Movie was based on, Donald Ray Pollock also was the Narrator in the Movie.
Missed this in the Theaters, glad to be able to watch it on Netflix, and turned out to be one hell of a Spy Thriller, with a good number of Twists and Turns.
The Action Scenes were few, but they are at the "John Wick" level of intensity and choreography, and Sasha Luss was very believable in the way she carried those out. She also had enough Charisma to carry the Movie very well as the Title Role.
Helen Mirren was also great but in a subdued way, I think this is the best Role I've seen her in Years. Just too bad that the Movie got a poor Rating on Rotten Tomatoes, for me this is Must See Movie, I hope that Netflix gives it a Sequel.
