Rating History

Die Hard
Die Hard (1988)
5 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

An action film with great action sequences, effects, acting, and a sharp script. Qualities you seldom find together in an action movie.

Savages (2012)
5 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

While not a masterpiece like Scarface, Savages still entertains even with an occasionally weak script. Also, the trailer sells it as a non-stop action movie, Savages has more talking than violence. Savages is also a lot tamer than expected. The movie is called "Savages". With a title like that, one would expect it to be brutally dark where no one escapes with their innocence intact.

Boogie Nights
Boogie Nights (1997)
5 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

A professionally-acted, funny, dark, surprisingly violent and bloody tale about the downward spiral of several members of the Pornography industry.

Natural Born Killers
5 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Absolute insanity with surprising structure. Everyone turns in a top-notch performance.

Gojira (1956)
5 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

While the American version has campiness, the original Japanese version provides a much darker presentation. Unlike the American version, the Japanese version is told in present-tense and treated with realism. I'm not saying it's realistic for a 400-foot-tall lizard named by squishing the Japanese words for ape and whale together, it is just how they treat the situation. So, Gojira is a surprisingly dark and less happy monster flick than most with a surprising intelligence.
