Vishal's Review of The Mechanic
Actors are the winners, script isn't..!!!!
The Mechanic................What I do requires a certain mindset.
Jason Statham (Arthur Bishop) plays the title role, an elite assassin with a skill to eliminate his targets in a clean fashion. He believes that the best jobs are the one's nobody ever knows you were there. Donald Suherland (Harry McKenna) is his boss cum mentor and Ben Foster (Steve) plays the part of his son. Harry and Dean (Goldwyn) are partners and they give their "assignments" to Arthur. Dean approaches Arthur with a contract of killing Harry with citing the reason that Harry is no more loyal to the company.
After Arthur is done with Harry, Steve comes in the picture with urge to learn the skills to become a "Mechanic". They hit it off well with their assignments. But soon Arthur comes to know that he had been deceived by Dean to kill Harry. Both Arthur and Steve go on a Seek and Destroy mission and are eliminate the Dean. During the entire sequence, Steve gets hold of his father's gun and he gets to know that it was none other than Arthur who had killed his father and then the climax.
The direction, script and screenplay are just average, speaking of which this is a remake of a movie with the same name which came back in 1972. Haven't watched it so no comparison.
In a Nutshell:
Betrayal and Vengeance complete the movie.
a)Highlights: Performances by both Jason Statham and Ben Foster are good. Statham blends with his character very well and Foster is just brilliant in his attitude and body-language.
b)Flaws : There are thriller clichés and the action sequences are just average.
