Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance
6 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Evangelion 2.22: You May (Not) Advance is not a giant robot anime. The plot has to lean on the use of giant robots, but the story is not in the robots, it is in the characters. This is a well known idea among many anime watchers and this is why Evangelion is so good.

That out of the way, Evangelion 2.22 is not like the first in any way. This is a new story that pulls lightly from the television show, and it makes a spectacle. I can not describe how much this movie surprised me and how much I enjoyed it.

There were two items that kept me from enjoying the film to its potential. I had to watch it in subtitles. This is a problem because some of the songs have lyrics which are spelled out during the song. This made it so that I could not tell exactly what was being said. Part of this is also that I was not a fan of the lyrics in the film at all. I prefer epic songs like "Angel of Doom" from the first film with lyrics that have little meaning (chorus singing) and not actual words.

Second I did not like that the film ended on a cliff hanger. This is necessary for the film, and I liked the end, but now I need the third film. Like NOW.

I would recommend this to any anime fan that likes a serious plot and extraordinarily three dimensional characters.

The Virgin Suicides

The Virgin Suicides is entertaining and very confusing. Women might understand it a bit more, but that is the point. It is worth watching for the twist on the modern feel good drama to a completely different type of film.

The Town
The Town (2010)

The movie does very little wrong, and even then it is not to much to make much of a difference. I felt original, but not. It is worth watching and very entertaining.

On a side note I thought that the men in the nun masks were zombies in the trailer. I felt really stupid once I figured out that I was wrong. This was not a part of the rating, just kind of funny.

Rupan sansei: Kariosutoro no shiro (The Castle of Cagliostro) (Lupin III: Castle of Cagliostro)

This is a very fun and light-hearted adventure. Well worth the watch and very entertaining.

Howl's Moving Castle
7 years ago via Rotten Tomatoes

Howl's Moving Castle is amazing. It starts out explaining little, and the magic in the world can be confusing, but the film is amazing. The music is very fitting and only adds. I am buying it tonight. I really enjoyed that Miyazaki dealt with characters that are mature, and I felt that he captures their age perfectly. I would say that this is comparable to Spirited Away. Each film is amazing, but they are so different that neither can be better than the other. This is a movie worth seeing many times and extremely entertaining in the process.
