Sucker Punch

Extended Cut: This is the first time that Snyder has worked with his own script and a storyteller he is not. Snyder says he indented the film to be a female empowerment story, but it comes off exploitative. Characters are poorly flushed out, if at all. The fantasy sequences are visually arresting, but turn very repetitive after the first two. Overall this is just boring and silly.

Director's Cut: An improvement over the third film. As I have said in other reviews, I am a sucker for post-apocalyptic settings. Bale and Worthington do a serviceable job, as does the supporting cast. The action is decent and the special effects are, for the most part, very good.

This movie is very ridiculous, loud and destructive for the sake of being loud and destructive. Cameron's 2 films were ridiculous as well, but the character moments help ground those movies in reality. The acting across the board is not that great, nor are a lot of the special effects. The ending is pretty solid and help boost this from a 2 to a 2.5. Chris (Peter) Hardwick makes an appearance!

152-Minute Special Edition: One of my all-time favorite sci-fi action blockbusters. Fantastic action set-pieces. Almost all of the special effects hold up. The couple of the longer added scenes help flush out the plot and characters.

The Terminator

A good entertaining action sci-fi flick. Good early robot effects by Stan Winston. I do feel as though the T-800 loses a lot of its threat when it become a walking robotic skeleton. The new Blu-Ray remaster looks fantastic.
