With all the buzz that this was the best movie of the year, I was ready for something so mind blowing, it may have been impossible to attain for me personally. That said, I actually had very little idea of what the film was going to turn into from what little I knew from the trailers. It's more of a character study of a man who is so socially awkward yet so confident in himself it can literally go in any direction and the direction it chooses works well. There was never a moment I was comfortable when Lou (Gyllenhaal) was talking. He harbored an attitude that could be taken as misunderstood or psochotic. Gyllenhaal should be nominated for this role and as creeped out as I am with that character he brought to life, I would find it hard to believe he won't win an Oscar.
