John's Review of End of Watch
End of Watch(2012)
Two officers working in a high crime area of LA go to war with a Mexican Cartel.
It's very easy to realize that the same writer from Training Day (David Ayer) was the brains behind this film. Which feels like a reality TV show. The chemistry between Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peņa is some of the best I've seen all year. I never once thought that they were actors playing cops. I felt like I was watching two really great friends that were partners fight a war on crime. The writing and excellent performances by Gyllenhaal and Pena make this one of the most exciting and realistic films I've seen all year.
There is no doubt in my mind that Cops, Firefighters, Service men and women all have very dangerous occupations. Anyone that is willing to sacrifice their own life to save others should be considered a hero to everyone. This film reminds us that Cops do not have a easy job that is filled with speeding tickets and coffee. And it's one of the best films I've seen in 2012.
I give End of Watch ... 4 Stars
