The Innkeepers

Can't recommend. Aside from 3 or 4 slightly frightening scenes, this plays out like a made for TV children's special. Think The Goonies meets Poltergeist. There really is no plot, and the ending leaves you baffled. Not baffled as in, "Wow, there are so many possibilities here," but baffled as in "The ending means nothing." The filmmakers are to be applauded for attempting a scary movie that doesn't rely on half-naked women in distress and disembowelments, but the scares just aren't there. Neither is the story.

It's torture porn with a Cockney accent.

The protagonists act far too stupidly for this realist horror movie to work. The Deliverance angle only works when the protagonists are trapped, set on their course. In this movie the protagonists have a dozen or so warnings but carry on like poncy poofters just the same. Take your holiday in France like everyone else.
