Firstly the soundtrack was subpar. I get that this is black comedy, but there is no anchor in reality whatsoever. We're left with a cartoon. It seems that as Pike ages, she must believe that she can only play caricatures rather than real people. Chris Messina is always a joy as is Diane Weist. However, no amount of good acting can save a bad screenplay. Equally offensive is racial stereotyping with the incompetent Black judge. The movie is not fun. It's a lost opportunity to expose elder care grifters.
Long drawn out story in great need of editing and a reason to care about any of the characters on screen or in the secret films. The only reason to see it is to see a young sexy Charles Dance. Poor Poliakoff who just can't quite make it into Jed Mercurio's league of thrillers, no matter how much money the BBC throws at him.
