I saw this today. Had to wait a week because I don't like 3D or RPX. Another ok popcorn movie. I found the dialogue disappointing, especially for a talented thespian like Benedict Cumberpatch. I'm not normally a big special effects guy but did enjoy most of the big scenes, though thought they seemed like they were a rip off of Inception. I collected comics as a kid, but not Dr. Strange. Only saw him in crossover issues, but was familiar with most of his back story. As a stand alone character he is ok, but if he goes into the big Marvel movie team ups, I think he might get drowned out by the louder characters. All and all, a 3 out of 5. Wait for it to come out on DVD, unless your into special effects, then by all means spend the extra $4 dollars on 3D or RPX. Peace.
his was a good movie, kind of a remake of Rocky, except using Soccer and WWII. Still, you will never see Stallone, Caine, Pele and Sydow in a movie ever again. That alone makes it very worthy. Also, have always loved Bill Conti ever since I watched The Right Stuff. I think he was channeling The Great Escape in this.?
Just watched this today. Interesting movie. I enjoyed the other Jeff Nichols movies such as Take Shelter and Shotgun stories. This one has the same flavor of it. A ambiguity runs through the movie the whole way, always wondering what the hell is going on and whats going to happen. The actors seem to say more through their actions and the looks on their faces and their eyes then what they say. Kind of like the old spaghetti westerns with Clint Eastwood. Especially with Michael Shannon, and his awesome glare, he always says more with his eyes then he does with his mouth. Also, found that is has that Southern flavor to it, like Steinbeck had in all his writing. This movie will not be for everyone, it is vague where most movies are decisive. Plus it is very slow paced and the CGI is a minimum. But if you like a though provoking movie, and actors that seem like real human beings dealing with something incredible, I highly recommend it. Also, interesting to see Adam Driver in a post Star War's role.
