Rabih's Review of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1
DISCLAIMER: OK, so I am a little behind in my reviews, so I will try to keep this as brief as possible, but I am a huge Harry Potter fan, so it's unlikely.
This is the second time I watch this movie, and I am leaving it with a very different feeling from the first viewing. Initially, I felt the movie was very well made but a little slow. Although it's true in the book the first half is not as action-packed as the second, I thought the movie was a good 3.5 / 5.
Now, after 2 years, it's a whole other movie. It's damn right amazing. Soooo much action, so much excitement the whole way through. Yes, there was that 20 minutes of relatively little action, but that is to be expected. It was relatively very loyal to the book and yet felt even faster paced.
There are some amazing scenes in the second darkest film in the series (the darkest of all being Deathly Hallows part 2). The diner exchange is fantastic. The Nagini attack is scary as $#^@. The scenery throughout is mind boggling! Cinematography epic win! Some of the best footage of scenery in a mainstream film.
The acting bar is again raised, this time to a solid performance from all actors. Although if I need to be honest, among the leading three I feel Daniel Radcliffe is the weakest while Emma Watson is the strongest. I understand it must have been tough selecting these actors at the age of 11 trying to see who would blossom into the strongest actor a decade later.
Music is stellar. VFX are photo-real and amazing. Production value is through the roof (as it should be considering the budget!). Overall, Warner Bro's have done a fantastic job bringing the books to life! Particular kudos to Yates on a fantastic series of movies. Really came out of nowhere for the Win!
Overall, an excellent and necessary watch before the finale: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2!
