So... I'm confused... Terminator 2 got better than this? Critics here are a bunch of fucking degenerates... This movie is an action classic.

It's basically the story of how Martin Scorsese grew up, but a well told story just the same. The acting, writing, all that was good, but the best part I think is the music. As always Martin has a seemingly endless stash of awesome songs in his brain that are playing on shuffle in the background, and it fits perfectly. I thought Harvey Keitel was the best actor, he upstaged Robert De Niro in about every way I can think of. I was dissatisfied by the ending. It was well done but it kind of... petered out. Anyways, it was about time I saw this one, and I'm glad I finally did.

I had some issues with the chemistry of the kidnappers, it seems the ending wasn't made clear enough, almost like a couple scenes were cut out. the movie is a bit overblown with all of the issues it addresses, but I still enjoyed it. Gary Sinise and Mel Gibson put in excellent performances, and keep the pace of the movie going.

I'm not going to lie. It has its flaws, and is way, way overrated. I have no idea how this got over Godfather on IMDB but, anyway, the movie. While not the best one ever this movie is really damn good. The only drawback that keeps the movie from perfection is on Frank Darabont's part. It always seemed to me that in this stage in his career he was just too afraid to take risks. He explains everything to the audience like we're a bunch of fifth graders. Usually in the form of Morgan Freeman's emotionless narrating voice. It got irritating around the point he had to explain the inmates' reaction to the record Andy put on intercom throughout the prison. "Yes I get it, the singing is beautiful, they havn't heard anything like that in years- decades even! Yes okay they feel free, moving on... come on already! UGH!" Despite my annoyance with Frank Darabont's obsession to explain the simplest of things in this movie, I still think it;s great... but not the best.

Man on the Moon

Jim Carrey has become something of a joke to me... Starring in these childish comedies all the time. Man on the moon on the other hand is probably his best movie since The Truman Show.
