The season that finally answers the question: Who killed Rosie Larson?
Some of the pacing and writing is not always on point, but the gloomy atmosphere, compelling characters, and fantastic acting keep everything afloat. I'd argue sometimes S2 surpasses S1 in terms of characterization and intrigue.
The S2 finale is simply fantastic, layered with mind-blowing twists and truly touching drama.
Death Has A Shadow
Mind Over Murder
A Hero Sits Next Door
Brian: Portrait of a Dog
An excellent slow-burning first season with compelling characters, great acting, immersive dreary atmosphere, and a deeply emotional focus that separates this show from all the other cookie-cutter CSI/Law & Order wannabes.
The over-arching mystery involving Rosie Larson murder is compelling but it sometimes falters due to one or two over-the-top red herrings and brief hiccups in internal logic. The S1 finale is also an unfortunate mark against an otherwise really good season due it's frustrating cliff-hanger ending.
Fully recommended for those who like dark and gritty crime dramas.
