In my opinion, on par with anything else from FFC. Superb.
Considering all that Clift suffered, (both on and off the screen) was it worth it?
A picture of old New York. Wallace Beery the usual brawler opposite gorge raft, pre King Kong Fay Wray, and Jackie Cooper as a scamp sidekick.
Not Dickens, but fleshed out enough for what it is and what it's trying to do. Except the ending, which didn't have enough of a pay off.
As good as they say. A neo noir horror western that breaks a few rules.
