Movie Ratings and Reviews

Public Enemies

Found rather long, boring, uninteresting and unattractive.

Persepolis
Persepolis(2007)

Been a while since I've watched such a tasty movie.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Unexpected indeed; I enjoyed this movie more than I thought I would.

Gedo senki (Tales from Earthsea)

Miyazaki's son knows the secret formula.

Waking Life
Waking Life(2001)

Just brilliant! I don't remember being so engulfed by any other movie like this. This is the kind of movie I've always wanted to watch, so involving and thought-provocative. Genius!

Enter the Void (Soudain le vide)
½

I don't know what to make out of this movie, except it makes me really sad. It bares everything and spares nothing; definitely not for everybody.

Cairo Time
Cairo Time(2010)

Awkward at times, too much sexual tension - Enjoyable nonetheless.

A Room With a View

The best example that the ratings on this site can be very misleading.

The Passion of the Christ

The language(s) may sound awkward at times but the acting makes up for it.

No Country for Old Men
½

Very catchy performances from everybody.

The Prestige
The Prestige(2006)

During the whole movie, I kept wondering, "When does it start to get interesting?". It didn't. Nolan is definitely not my cup of tea (to say the least) and I learned this fact the hard way.

Inception
Inception(2010)

Too much wasted potential. Nolan never fails to disappoint.

Hotaru no haka (Grave of the Fireflies)
½

Made me tear up. Not a lot of movies out there that have, enough said.

The Dark Knight Rises

So many plot flaws. A movie that tries to make an attempt at being epic and fails.

Ghost in the Shell

Never got what all the fuss was about.

The Secret World of Arrietty

An English novel made into a Japanese anime movie. A Celtic soundtrack made by a French harper who sings in Japanese and English. Am I the only one who's immensely inspired by this epic international amalgamation? Stuff like this gives me some faith in the world.

Sin City
Sin City(2005)

As a general rule, any comics-based movie is bound to be bad (in my own opinion) and this is no exception. If it wasn't for the innovative method it was shot, I wouldn't have bothered watching it.

Transsiberian

Highlights: Emily Mortimer's amazing performance. Ben Kingsley speaking Russian! (Is there any role that gentleman can't play?). A very interesting movie.

Slacker
Slacker(1991)
½

Been a long time since I've watched such a fun movie. This movie has the most pointless, yet thought-provocative rants I've ever heard; along the lines of 'Clerks', 'Before Sunrise' and 'Before Sunset'.

Nostalghia
Nostalghia(2013)

I think I'm going to need some time to digest this masterpiece. Definitely needs a re-watch. Epic cinematography.

Fargo
Fargo(1996)
½

Has its funny moments but I didn't find it involving at all. Theme music was pretty good though.

The Black Stallion
½

Amazing performance, poetic imagery.

Clerks
Clerks(1994)
½

Smart dialogue, very enjoyable.

Driving Lessons

Good music and Scotland; can't get better than this.
