Am I rating this high? the final two episodes are so garbage that perhaps 2/5 stars is too generous.
Second half of this premiere season noticeably better than the first, plot less scattered about.
Not sure if i like this season more or less than the first, like many marvel shows i really enjoy when jessica or other main characters are on screen but for the most part the supporting cast is very unappealing.
I'm still finding the narrative to be rather uneven and character arcs to not being fulfilling either dead ending or doing strange things from time to time. However despite these hiccups it was a fun watch especially the last few episodes. Though given where it ends I have to wonder where the series will go from here...
I was rather let down with how this ended, really dropped the score for me, taking the slow character building and then destroying it all in a mindless confusing gunfight.
First four episodes drag and got rather difficult to watch tbh, Kandahar was pretty good but even that ep kept being bogged down by the repetitive flashbacks Frank Castle had of his wife, if the show changed it up some wouldn't have been so annoying but the same scene was used at least three times, we get it, he feels guilty for surviving while they died! Get on with it! Once Castle gets motivated though and starts going after the people who need to be got, the show picks up spectacularly and the last six eps are a particular rush, bang, bang, bang no let up and it was terrific. Would have given the first season an easy 9/10 but I just can't forget about the slow opening. Rest of the show makes up for it though, should I rewatch I think I'll start at Episode 5...
An improvement over Season 6 but still rather scattershot and the teleporting of characters gets from amusing to absurd. Like the 6th season though this year gets its strength from a couple strong episodes rather than the narrative as a whole which hasn't been that strong since Season 4 and the show started to go beyond the books. Rushing hurts the story after all but what we do get is strong enough to still be a solid outing, I just wish Dan and Dave had the time and budget for this to still be 10 episodes, maybe with the extra time the storyline would have been smoother and I could have ranked this among the great seasons back in 1-4. Can't wait for finale though, shame the wait will be so long...
Not quite the low point of Season 5 Archer Vice but still not the best outing this show has given.
