Wow! Im shocked at how bad the acting is in this movie. Its so bad its distracting.
Started off boring and slow. Some of the music choices were INEFFECTIVE. I get that its told through girlfriends POV therefore they wanted us to experience Bundy how she did and that worked cuz i related to him. Liked him. Rootrf that he would escape and get off in the in. However, the presentation didnt work. They shouldve showed some of the killings and had him in a mask or did a killer pov in between the arrest. It just said he was here, he was there... i was like when did that happen? Efrons performance was flawless. I suspect he wore a prosethic nose in addition to the teeth. After getting through the boring parts i became riveted by the movie but it couldve been a lot better. I think the problem was the filmakers were trying to hard to respect the victims by not showing his crimes that they wund up glorifying the killer inadvertently. This is what happens when you are scared to take risks.
I like the spin off aspect, but the movie bored me half way through because it's the same formula as every other Rocky movie. I had to give a lower score cuz of the retarded dirt bike scene where Adonis starts shadow boxing. Was that suppose to be cool, cuz it looked super cheesy to the point of making me cringe.
It started off very slow. I actually had to rewatch it a second time and FORCE myself to do so. Then it was riveting at parts. But it was very confusing. Loved the soundtrack and there were some strong performances but overall I wasn't feeling the story. It came across at first as a kid struggling with schizophrenia which is what the filmmakers should've done but then it turned sci-fi with time travel which seemed out of place and made the story convoluted.
Critics gave this a high score cuz they are into art house SNOOZE fest. The only redeeming quality about this "movie" is it's CINEMATOGRAPHY! Bravo! That was EPIC! The practical gore effects were perfect too. Soundtrack was great at times.
Here's my biggest complaint. I was BORED! From the first five minutes, I didn't care about anyone in this movie. The actors weren't actually BAD but they were LACKLUSTER. Mind you they weren't pretty to look at so you at least think that they would have something remarkable about their personalities that make you like them, NOPE.
This movie felt like the filmmakers were overly PRETENTIOUS, thinking they were making something EPIC! The best movie that was relevant and a social commentary while still being entertaining. Nah. It was BLATANTLY a political propaganda mixed with ultra violence, gore, and controversy in order to disguise its political motivation. It brings up the same conversations we've heard before. Social media is bad. Social media is fake. Blah, blah, blah. It really thinks it's saying something when in fact it's vomiting stuff that has been said a million times over.
This movie made no sense whatsoever. There's one thing to pay homage to films you love like Heathers, Mean Girls, and Purge. Then there's another just to straight up copy them.
After 20 minutes I had enough of this nonsense, and started skimming it just to see the creative cinematography.
There are few movies I actually LOATHE. This is one of them. Primarily because of the lead cast.
