War for the Planet of the Apes
58 days ago via Rotten Tomatoes

War features a more personal story for its lead which is emotionally hard hitting but also leads to its one big flaw: it's title and marketing. Expecting a more action centered plot like Dawn's is bound to lead to some questioning of its title. But that in no way undermines it's more personal narrative, thought provoking themes, special effects to leave your mouth hung open, an hard hitting emotional moments. If War is the conclusion to this rebooted trilogy then its the perfect example- of a-whole series of-reboots done right.

Alien: Covenant

While controversial as a part of the franchise, Alien Covenant is excellent as a standalone piece. Great acting, beautiful cinematography, genuine scares, and thought provoking ideas.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

While I don't think it matches to the original (in that the original was a breathe of fresh air to me) there is no doubt it is funny, action packed, and even more emotional then the first. It's the fun time you are expecting.

½

Emotionally powerful, beautifully filmed, and well acted A Monster Calls is not for everyone but those who click with it are in for a wonderful experience.

Logan
Logan (2017)

I have few if any problems with the supposed final Wolverine film to star Hugh Jackman. It's a violent, unique, and emotionally powerful comic book film that is destined to be a landmark.
