Movie Ratings and Reviews

The Sandlot
The Sandlot(1993)

What a sweet, feel-good movie. I'm a sucker for anything coming of age or sports-related. This film really hits home for me.

Bring It On
Bring It On(2000)

The perfect feel-good movie. Awesome choreography and great satire, it's forever a favorite.

The Virgin Suicides
½

This eerie and dreamlike story of suburbia is wonderfully compelling. Perhaps a stretch from reality, the film still feels incredibly familiar.

Inside Out
Inside Out(2015)

Finally Pixar extends its casts to include more awesome female protagonists! Inside Out will leave you laughing and on the floor sobbing as you follow a quirky cast of characters through a young girl's mind and emotions in a story that begins to take a look into mental illness and depression in a refreshing and touching way.

Bandslam
Bandslam(2009)

I am all about Battle of the Bands movies. But this one really fell flat. Each character embodies a stereotype, the plot is shaky and uneven, and the musical performances are all unmemorable and boring. I'll take School of Rock over this any day.

Something Borrowed

I only watched this movie for John Krasinski. And nothing remotely good happened to his character. And it was the most unsatisfying ending where everyone ends up with the wrong person.

The DUFF

I liked it! Definitely not as monumental or groundbreaking as Mean Girls or Clueless, but this "chick-flick" tween movie is rather satisfying and funny. Mae Whitman is incredibly charming and absolutely steals the show. 6.5/10.

Braveheart
Braveheart(1995)
½

Meh. Some nice shots and intense action but rather convoluted at times and not particularly gripping throughout.

Under the Skin

Cinematic beauty but overwhelmingly weird and unsettling. And not in a cool-and-innovative way, but in a never-want-to-watch-this-again way.

The Grand Budapest Hotel

Vibrant, fast-paced, and comical, "The Grand Budapest Hotel" proves to be surprisingly sentimental.

Captain Phillips

Where is Hanks' Oscar nomination? Incredible film. Intense, suspenseful, and thrilling.

Charlie Bartlett
½

Starting out quite slow, a bit random, and lacking depth, Charlie Bartlett is still a fun and enjoyable ride.

The Shining
The Shining(1980)
½

Good, but far too long for the story that needed to be told. The length took away from the story, constantly falling out of its own plot.

Donnie Darko
Donnie Darko(2001)
½

A fantastic movie that sparks numerous theories and questions that continue the intricate and enthralling story.

Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 3(2007)

Lacking in the villains that were in the previous movies. Kept my attention but not worth another watch.

Hanna
Hanna(2011)
½

A good attempt at an original movie. Not terribly interesting and lacking in a deeper backstory but overall exciting enough to keep one's attention.

Monsters University

Fantastic! Sequels and prequels are always worrisome but Pixar pulled through on this one giving us a funny, beautifully-animted, and exciting story.

Turbo
Turbo(2013)

A Pixar wannabe. Predictable and unoriginal.

Pacific Rim
Pacific Rim(2013)

Downright awesome. Cool concept, great characters, and jam-packed with action. Don't even get me started on the amazing film score.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

An awesome adaptation of the book. Stunning movie.

The Amazing Spider-Man
½

Just like the title says: Amazing. Engaging plot with interesting differences from the original. Funny and cute characters and a good plot. Would have appreciated more dedication to the original story of how Spiderman came to be.

Treasure Planet

My favorite movie. Stunning and magical, a must-see.

The Croods

I was worried about this film after being disappointed with Rise of the Guardians. I was pleasantly surprised with a fun, bright, and insightful movie. The range of characters is great with different personalities in each person. The animation is beautiful and the scenery is gorgeous. It starts out a bit slow, making you question if the movie will come through, but it quickly picks up and pulls you in with laugh-out-loud humor and a well-paced story. The fantasy and real-world aspects of this film mesh perfectly together to produce a great movie for all ages.

Warm Bodies
Warm Bodies(2013)

Creative and different. Very funny at times and no too overbearing with the zombie theme. Well-executed forbidden love story.

Ratatouille
Ratatouille(2007)

A forgotten masterpiece.

WALL-E
WALL-E(2008)

Clever, funny, and original. This film is perfect.

Up
Up(2009)

One of the best films you'll ever see.

Cars 2

I strayed away from seeing this movie due to its bad reviews and discouraging rumors. I finally decided to give it a go and I don't understand the hate that this movie receives. It's a good film! It's not as good as the original, but most sequels aren't. It's not amazing, but by no means is it terrible. The pacing is a bit rushed and the plot is very so-so, but the execution was good.

Pitch Perfect

A pleasant surprise. Not nearly as funny as everyone said, but definitely an enjoyable movie with great characters. Happy to see a plot that wasn't completely predictable.

The Breakfast Club

Had no idea what to expect out of this movie that everyone has heard of. I've seen the references and have been told countless times that it's a classic I need to see. Well, I've seen it and can safely say it deserves the hype. The Breakfast Club is fantastic.

Rise of the Guardians

I really wanted to like this movie, but unfortunately, it just didn't do it for me. It's aimed at younger kids, but even then the story line is random and predictable, and the plot is underdeveloped. This movie could have gone is so many great directions, but instead it took a turn down an unfortunately rushed path.
